The toilets are always dirty. There's blood on one of the walls in the ladies bathroom and it's been there for so long. The toilet paper is never ever in the dispenser in any toilets even the baby change instead always loose on top of the sanitary bins or dispenser. Considering the surroundings, this Morrison's is actually really very nice. It's in a handy location, right next to the main First and U-link buses in Fishponds, meaning you only have to walk a few metres with your heavy bags. There is also a substantial car park which I have never seen full to the brim. Inside, its bright and spacious meaning there is plenty of room to maneuver your wonky trolley without plowing down the locals. Prices are also good, and easily rival the adjoining Lidl's and I personally think it's much more of a stress-free zone than Lidl's. Additionally, there is a cafe for a sit down if you have had a long morning, which is always in use (mainly by the older generation may I add!) and the coffee isn't too bad. read more

It s time that the management of this store had a close look at the running of the cafeteria in the Fishponds store. My wife and I wanted to purchase a hot drink and a cake before heading home. What was the problem/ 1. No plates for the cakes. 2. Nobody to ask about plates. 3. We could have opted for a hot drink, but 4. Nobody on the till. This is not the first time we have faced this problem. We have used other Morrison stores and their cafeterias but they do not suffer the same problems as Fishponds. What is wrong at this store? As far as supermarkets go I've got a lot of love for Morrison's. From my younger days I remember it as a supermarket only found in the North and even back then I felt it was something a bit different from your tesco's and somerfield. It's now been in the South for many years and before moving to Fishponds I never really got the opportunity to go there, but now it's my number one supermarket of choice. In the last few years they've had a massive refurb and the fresh produce is now fantastic. They have these amazing refrigerated veg stands with a eerie mist rising from the vegetables, I've not seen this anywhere else and it gives you that real feeling of freshness! They also have really good meat and fish counters. My only slight complaint is a wish they did more organic stuff, but they're not alone in this I feel the same about most supermarkets. read more

OK not the sexiest place in the world to review, but being my local supermarket I feel I should let you know what it is like. Sitting back to back with Lidl, in lower Fishponds, it doesn't really promise to be a great supermarket and when it started out it really was rubbish. However, they seem to have adapted the store to its surroundings and have brought up the standard to make it a pair with Lidl rather than competitor. Always busy, expect to have a calm attitude when you go in here. They have a good fruit & veg section, which has removed a lot of its packaging in the past year or so. They have a good pie section which is handy to pick up before heading out on long walks. Their bread is actually a lot better than Tescos (but not as good as the local independent bakeries). The main reason I come here though is their baking section. Since the Co-Op in Staple Hill changed to a Tescos I have lost the best bakery ingredients shop local to me, but Morrisons has a good choice of cooking chocolate, flour and sugars to keep me going. They have a small self-service section and the checkouts are normally pretty well staffed. There is plenty of on-site parking but just four bike hoops - situated in front of the cash machines. The only annoying thing is the layout of the doors - the entrance and exit are the wrong way round and you are always tripping over people to get in and out. read more

Where I went to University the local supermarket was a Morrisons store, so for 3 years I became very well aware of all the offfers they have, the good times to go in and get cheap Deli food, and where their bargain shelves where located. This Morrisons is one of the few in the whole Bristol Avon area, so I do make the occasional trip to buy a whole roast chicken for £1.50 (that's when it has been reduced at the end of the day!) which is so worth the trip, however I do find that alot of the other food on offer is overpriced compared to what tesco and Asda offer. With so many local butchers and grocery stores nearby I think you would find that you can get a much better standard of food than morrisons offer with only paying a bit more of the price. read more

I remember when Morrisons in Fishponds was Safeway and had no particular axe to grind when Morrisons took over as both are medium sized supermarkets and I presumed a similar shopping experience. At first I was often enraged at bad mannered staff and actually did the unBritish thing of complaining !! Perhaps I wasnt the only one, nowadays I find the staff quite friendly and this makes shopping their pleasant. I think Morrison work hard to please their customers they would be stupid not to. and theres a lot to be said about the place But My main gripe is how the bread and cakes just dont do it for me. Safeway bread used to have me nibbling crusts on the way home but since Morrisons took over I have stopped buying bread and cakes there after being disappointed too many times. Maybe they use a diffent flour or recipes but its all rather bland. It all tastes well.... cheap. I last tried a french stick which as we all know should be crusty outside and light inside Ughh! Thats it, no more morrison bread and cake for me I do use Morrisons as my nearby supermarket but dont go near the bread and cakes unless starving and desperate read more
