I went here to get some pants hemmed. The lady said $15 for non rush and $25 for rush. I told her there's no rush on it. Not even 2 hrs later, I called to change the size and make it shorter. But she said she already finished it and I can't change it. So then the next day I picked it up and she's charging me $25 each because she finished it early. I didn't pay the said amount but still gave her a tip even if I was caught on the spot. Came home and she did a horrible job on the pants. Some are not even and one side was hemmed differently than the other side. Will never go back here. Brought a floor length gown for hemming due to its long length. Received back with weird and poor craftsmanship. Tailored so long I had to wear completely different heels from the one I wore at my fitting. Sewed the heavy top layer of my gown to the thin interior layer, probably to make the job easier and not have to sew two separate layers. This made the gown lay weird and not smooth, was obvious in all photos. Hem line itself is very thick and not even straight. Don't go here. Pricing isn't even all that cheap considering it's a cash only home operation. read more

Yelp needs to add a thumbs down feature because this alteration place is by far the worst I've ever seen! I ignored a bunch of red flags because a nice little old grandma was on the other end of the phone. I thought it may work out and she may have a lot of experience. I purchased my brand new House of CB dress and dropped it off to her. The fitting was seriously strange. Someone else also said in their review that she is touchy feely. And she was! She literally sat there and waited for me to undress. And when I wasn't undressing she asked if I wanted her to step out. I said yes! So I get the dress on and called her back in. I explained that all I needed her to do was to loosen the straps because they were too tight. But she insisted on making them tighter to lift the corset up higher. I told her it needs to be loosened because it was digging into my shoulders. She then insisted on showing me how high the corset needed to be to cover my cleavage and decided to scoop my right breast up with her hands. after more discussion about where the corset is supposed to go, she conceded and said she would loosen the straps about an inch and a half. Which is what I wanted. She tells me to pick it up the next day. I thought great! At pick up she couldn't remember who I was or what dress I brought in. I had to tell her it's a black satin dress. I am no seamstress and do not claim to know anything about altering a dress. But stitching was sub par and looked like something I could have done myself. Not only that but she made the straps even tighter! I was sooo disappointed. I told her to give me my money back. Mind you it was only $10! It's on principle!She then proceeds to tell me that this is a very hard job. At that point I just wanted my dress, the bag, and hanger back and get out of there. Btw, this is a home alterations place. Another red flag I ignored. I left, stopped by Walmart to pick up a sewing kit and did it myself. It looks like but is no different than what she did. She ended up telling me it was going to be an extra $30 for some reason. So I got ripped off I think lol. This lady is horrible! She ruined my expensive bridesmaid dress. So upset right now. First off, she doesn't have the cleanest environment. If you are modest like me, you will be very uncomfortable. No privacy whatsoever. I needed her to shorten my straps and length of dress. She claimed because of the fabric, she had to charge me $85. I find out from the other bridesmaids, she completely overcharged. Then I get my dress back. I had to show up there since she never called me asap when it was ready. So its now too late if there's a problem. I put it on, length is incorrect, the hem looks like a 5 year old did it, the straps look like they will last about a hour, and one strap is crooked. I took my wedding dress to her to Do my alterations. I just needed it hemmed and bustle put on the back. she insisted that I needed a boob supporter. I went ahead and had her put the boob supporter in. When I went to try on my dress it looked like a completely different dress she took the dress out on each side 2" without even asking me. It was a corset back therefore it didn't lace up properly. She also took the boning out of the side of my dress in said I didn't need it and it was making my dress fall down. I was in tears because it was not the same dress. She told me it was because I was a bigger girl and had large boobs. I showed her a picture side-by-side of how she made my dress look and how the dress looked in January before I took it to her she said that lady in the dress has smaller boobs than you that's why it looks better on her. I stated to her that lady in the dress is me. I paid a lot of money for my dress to be altered I picked up my dress and took it to Maxine's bridle where I purchased it from and it's gonna cost me a $165 to fix what she's done to the dress .It wasnt even, one side was 3" longer than the other the side of the dress was she took out was coming unstitched .The bustle in the back was not even with the dress there was a bunch of snags in the dress.After I left there the next day I went back to Dolores to show her everything that was wrong with the dress and how much it was going to cost me to fix it thinking she's a business woman she would wanna make things right and reimburse me for my dress she got really defensive and said that she knows what she's doing And the bridal shops way isn't right so now I'm stuck with a dress that has to be shorter than it's supposed to be because she made one side shorter than the other please be careful if you're going to her to do your alterations for your wedding I would advise you go somewhere else read more

I took my favorite jacket in to have a cell phone pocket sewn inside. The owner was very friendly and professional. I showed her how I wished the pocket to look on another jacket. She didn't need to measure or anything, but the pocket came out Perfect. She had it ready the next day! In search for my wedding dress alterations this past Sept. 3rd 2009, I was recommended a home seamstress who specialized in wedding gowns. Her motto is "Professional Seamstress and Pattern maker, Specialize in Wedding Gown; Bridesmaid and Formal Dresses and other sewing Services". In giving her a call, she was very pleasant and didn't mind that I called her a few times after, with more wedding dress alteration questions. She was always available to answer a call and be at home whenever I needed to drop off or pick up my wedding dress. Delores's prices were fair in comparison with others I had checked out, so since they were affordable for me, I chose her for doing my wedding gown alterations. *(Of course going into someone's home you don't know isn't recommended, yet I was told very good things about the seamstress from trusted friends.) I went to her Manteca home to try on my dress for the first fitting. She pinned it where needed, and we discussed what I found needed altering from the bridal consultants I spoke to when the dress was purchased. *(Having notes ahead of time and the height of your wedding shoe is very helpful in a fitting.) Trusting Delores wasn't easy because I had never seen her work, but because I was told that her prices and results were great, I entrusted my wedding dress alterations to her! The fact that my gown had tons of intricate beading surprisingly didn't cause the price to escalate. The bustle was $50, the waist $50,....overall the total was $170 (included also the hemming, replacing of missing beading, fixing the sleeves, and last minute removal of the inside zippers at no charge). When I came back in Oct. to pick up the dress after one of my bridal showers, Delores welcomed me and a few of my girlfriends in for the final fitting. She had done a fabulous job on the dress; it fit tightly, the waist fit well, the hem was just touching the floor perfectly with my healed shoes on, the beaded sleeves were now perfectly in place, the bustle was very sturdy and elegant,....everything was amazingly well done. She did a flawless job and my dress was looking as if it never was touched. My girlfriends were just in quiet awe as I showed them the final fit. I'm glad I trusted Delores and that she let me pay in two separate checks before I picked up the dress. She was pleasant and did a great job, making my dress look like it was made just for me on my special day. Now it was the Spanish style I wanted! Delores was very sweet the last day I picked up the dress and gave me a complementary bag of ripe persimmons. One of my bridesmaids and my maid of honors all got their dresses altered by Delores. (Big groups receive discounts.) I highly recommend her services in Manteca. She is very good and very pleasant. read more

This is a tricky review. This place gets 2 stars for the following reasons and I'll try to keep it short... Took my wedding dress in to have it hemmed, bustled, and the top taken in (strapless and it was a little big last time I tried it on) I hadn't tried the dress on in a few months mind you and when Delores was helping me put it on I hear, "ohhhhh it not fit! It's too small I'll need to let it out 5 inches" 5 inches?! Seriously? How is that possible? I have lost weight since I bought my dress so I'm thinking this is really weird. However, I was mortified and embarrassed so I took it off and trusted that she knew what she was doing and she could fix it. She would have to let it out and take off all the beading and move it so that the corset back and the side beading are in the right place and centered. After a month of stress, disappointment, and starvation I go in to try it out again and bring my mom and sister with me. As i am sitting waiting for my turn i hear her with another client telling her, "It not fitting! I need to take out 9 inches" 9"?! I'm thinking that's weird that someone would buy a dress 9" too small... It's my turn next and I try it on and see that she has altered my dress so that the corset laces completely closed making it so it's as though it doesn't exist!!!! Ugh!!!! If I didn't want a corset back I wouldn't have bought that style dress!!! I asked her why she did that and she looks confused and responds, "Ohhhh you no like like that?" I had to pull my phone out to show her a picture of me in my dress to show her that the corset is intentional and of course I no like that!! Long story short she fixed it and took it in an additional 2" from the original size. Yes it was perfect after the fact and yes it looked as though it was never touched and yes she did a great job. I think she is a sneaky soul and will try to tell you that you need alterations that are not necessary. If you use her please proceed with caution and take someone with you who will give you an honest opinion. read more

EXCELLENT service and work! I came to her with two of my wedding dresses. One was a fitted mermaid, the other a flowy A-line. I was 3 months pregnant at the time when I first met her. So I knew this was going to be a huge challenge for her and I. Approximately guessing how big I was going to be on my wedding day, 5-6 months pregnant. But she reassured me with confidence. We carefully planned each fitting so that we would have enough time if anything went wrong. Being a stressed out bride I came to my last fitting feeling extremely happy. Other areas were charging between $15-20 dollars but it was going to take almost a week for them to have it ready. Came here to get my dress altered for a wedding. She was very sweet and welcoming, however very pricey. I had an off the shoulder dress and for some reason she had a difficult time altering it,so I ended up having to safety pin it for the wedding. Asked her to put a slit in my prom dress, all she did was literally cut a line up it, didn't sew the seams at all like any seamstress would, that is what i was paying for, i could cut a line with scissors myself easily for free. I bought a dress online and it was the last one in my size. I got it in the mail and the zipper was broken, I could return it for my money back, but I really loved the dress especially because I was attending a wedding and needed something soon. So I went to Macy's to see if maybe they could do it, but they told me they couldn't do it unless I bought the item for them. I called morning light alterations and she told me to come in when I could and she could have it done by the end of the day, I came in with my dress at 4:30 and picked it up at 5:30. Let me start by saying that this review is not about they work they do this is strictly a customer service review. I called her last month and when I talked her about needing alterations soon for my wedding dress and she seemed very nice. I told her I would call her back and schedule an appointment closer to the time and after I have checked out some other places. After shopping around and seeing the reviews on yelp I decided that I would go with this place to do my alterations. I called last Friday and left a message and here it is a week later and I have not gotten a call back. I have called a couple more times and got no answer. I am big on customer service and getting a call back when I call a business. The fact that she could not be bothered to call me back after a week of waiting does not strike me as someone I want to deal with when it comes to my wedding dress. I am sure she does alterations well but customer service is just as important to me. If she can't even call me back to schedule a simple appointment what will happen if I need to reach her regarding my dress. Sorry but not a risk I am willing to take. I gave an extra star for the first conversation I had with her and even that is generous. read more

This review does not reflect her capability as a seamstress because I was quite happy with her work. However, this review is a reflection of her fairness as far as cost goes. When I initially went for a fitting she was very polite and we engaged in a nice conversation. She then went onto asking me what I did for work. I told her. Then she asked me how much I made hourly.... My dumb ass didn't think twice about this question but my best friend that was with me and later told me that she asked me this to determine how much she was going to charge me. Two stars are for over charging me for a simple hem. ( and when I say simple I don't mean I could have done it myself... Because I don't know a thing about sewing) I mean that my mother in law who is also a seamstress would have not charged $20 for a hem.... And $60 to fix tight shoulders on a dress) I would have had my mother in law do the work but she is sick and I needed these item in hurry as I am leaving for vacation and this was a last minute alteration. I originally brought 3 items to her and felt like I was being overcharged to begin with so I just omitted the third item... I would have been charged well over 150$ Another reason why I am giving two stars is because she told me the two Items were going to be a total of $60 and when I went to pick up the clothes she charged me an extra $20.... I personally think she should have given me a call and made me aware that things where going to cost more than what she had originally quoted me for. Especially because she accepts CASH ONLY! Again. I feel like her work on a scale from 0-10 was a 7/10 to 8/10 work but her honesty and greed got her this two star review. read more

Absolutely wonderful! I have had some bad experience with alterations in the past and so was a little wary when finding someone to do my wedding dress. I found this wonderful woman through Yelp and I couldn't be happier! She worked really quickly and had my dress ready on time. My dress had some beading around the waist that I was worried about getting messed up when having the dress taken in, but looking at it I can't even tell that anything was changed other than that it fits now! I just had 100.00 dollars worth of alterations done by this lady. 2 pairs of slacks, 2 jump suits and 2 floor length dresses. Had I known how the slacks turned out I would never have taken the dresses and jump suits to here but I handed them over as I picked up the slacks. I was so upset to get home and see that one leg on both pair of the slacks was longer than the other. One pair was too long and the other was to short! In the donation bag they went. One good thing it forced me to go shopping to find pants that fit in length so I don't have to go through this anymore. I loved the pant suits.....well one of them drags on the floor and the other pair is to short and there isn't enough hem left to let out :( Same thing in the donation bag they go. They were on sale for 69.00 each and 20.00 for her to hem, so I'm not happy wasting 160.00 because someone thinks they can hem without taking full measurment. She just put one pin in each spot and on the other she just said no I can do it by the other pair???? My dresses, one is to short in the back and the other is just right! One out of six I guess isn't to bad :( I do not recommend her and can't believe that her rating are this good, had I not seen all these great rating I would not have sought her out in the first place! To be fair to her, she did tell me if anything was wrong I could bring them back when I asked. Problem is you can't make something longer when you have cut off all the excess material. I've learned a hard lesson here! Does anyone out there know a real good seamstress who will take the time to measure and pen up the entire item to know that it is going to come out right. I gave her a 2 instead of a 1 because I can wear one of the dresses, the one I liked least :(She makes you pay her up front also, I don't think that is right either! read more
