However, for my particular needs, it didn't feel as if I got enough out of the appointment. My weight has been very steady for the past couple years, which I suppose is a good thing, but I've been trying to lose weight by doing consistent workouts, nixing coffee, takeout, trying to incorporate more veggies into my diet. I definitely have issues with soda and snacking (cookies/chips), but overall I wanted to see if I could have a plan designed for me to help me accelerate weight loss, preferably 1-2 lbs a week. Her approach is not about diet restriction/calorie counting, but more about wholesome clean/natural eating, balanced meals. It's a great approach and I applaud that. I just know my biggest issues are calories. I eat great foods -- spinach, broccoli, avocados, Greek yogurt, blueberries, almonds, peanut butter, apples, peppers/mushrooms -- but portion and calories, even with healthy things, can cause weight gain, too. I wanted a strict diet/calorie plan that would ensure I could drop weight but not feel deprived. I may have been better off using a calorie counting app, but figured a professional could maybe offer more?
I think she is good for someone who may have zero knowledge of nutrition, and have no idea where to begin when it comes to snacks or meals. Her snack/diet suggestions were things I was already incorporating into my diet, and it felt a little repetitive.
I was seen more or less on time, my appointment at 1PM, and walking up to her office by 1:10. It's up in a loft inside a pilates studio, so if people have any physical issues with walking, I would not recommend this narrow winding stair case. Very cozy and cute looking space once you're inside. Simple looking, with a desk for her work, some chairs, and further inside seems to be a cute living or recreational space.
Also, very hot inside. Considering we were on the very top, and it was still the height of summer, it felt unbearably stuffy and uncomfortable. No air conditioning, but not even a fan. I sat there, trying to think clearly while feeling sweaty and gross. By the time I left, I realized I had huge sweat stains!
Great person to slowly guide you into healthy eating. She offered good suggestions, and introduced me to the Plate Method.
