For our last dinner in St John, we booked a reservation here. Only bar seating was available but it did not hamper the experience. They open at 5:30pm which was our reservation time and it was busy. Folks were lined up down the stairs waiting to get in. They handled the crowd well. We started with splitting the tango salad. It was a nice combo of island tastes and great way to whet the palate. I chose the coconut shrimp. Four large pieces of shrimp were presented with a cob of corn and jasmine rice. Everything had a nice island flavor. We finished the meal with a flourless chocolate tort with a raspberry sauce. So good. They are noted for key lime pie but just not my fav. The open airiness of the space was cool and inviting. Being at the bar, our server was the bar tender. They were extremely busy but we never felt neglected. Service was good. The three of them worked well as a team.
Had dinner on a Tuesday with two other couples while on vacation. Turned out to be lobster night which was a welcomed surprise. We ordered a bunch of apps Tuna tartar (3/4) fresh and decent portion but the tuna was a bit lacking in flavor Calamari (4/4) simple and great crunch Lobster dish (6/4) fantastically executed and hands down one of the best lobster I've had. Beyond tender and zero chewiness perfectly cooked and no additional sauce seasoning or otherwise needed. Lamb lollipops (4/4) excellent tender and a decent app Grouper (2/4) pretty thick crust and mine was overcooked and under seasoned Mussels (3/4) decent and plentiful good sharing option Drinks (2/4) they were fine, I would go for wine or beer if you visit. Space filled up pretty quickly at 5:45 and plenty of seating multiple levels of tables and bar seating. Be aware it is pretty outside with covering and fans but we were definitely sweating the whole time. Service was fine, we had to ask multiple times for simple things like ice or a spoon but overall we were very much on island time so weren't in a rush. Book early and if you can GO FOR LOBSTER NIGHT! There's a taxi stop right out front along with the ice cream shop and other cute stores nearby.
This spot was a pleasant surprise. While the seafood is frozen, not fresh, it was still among the better meals I've had on the island. I'd recommend skipping the calamari, though; mine were overly chewy and tough. The paella leaned more toward a basic seafood rice dish, featuring frozen seafood, but the flavors were still enjoyable. The real standout, and the reason for the 4-star rating, is their key lime pie. Truly exceptional. As someone who's borderline obsessed with key lime pie and orders it at every restaurant that offers it, I can confidently say this was the best I've ever had. Light, tangy, perfectly balanced, absolutely heavenly.
This was our fourth visit to Morgan's Mango and it remains one of our favorite places to get dinner on St. John. Reservations are a must, although we have lucked out with seats at the bar when we didn't plan appropriately. Three types of ceviche!! Say less. Catch of the day. Always amazing. Love their cocktail list. Service has always been excellent. Can't wait to go back!
We celebrated a lovely birthday dinner at Morgan's Mango and would do it all over again! You definitely need a reservation, whether your party is big or small, this place fills up from the time they open to the time they close! Even the bar takes reservations! We skipped apps and went straight to dinner and it did not disappoint! The portions are large and filling so come hungry! I had the coconut crusted grouper and it was absolutely delicious. My one critique is that the side of veggies was a bit undercooked for me, most were still hard. A few others in my group for the surf and turf dinner special and the lobster was cooked perfectly and super tasty. Probably hopped out of the ocean that morning! We "forced" ourselves to get dessert and opted for the key lime pie. It was delicious! Perfect amount of crust and filling and super tasty! It is also the biggest pie I've ever seen! The staff was super great and attentive. Always filling glasses and checking in. Couldn't have asked for a better celebration spot! Definitely would recommend for a more upscale dinner on St. John!
My husband and I visited Morgan's Mango for dinner one evening on our honeymoon, and we were very found of the drinks, food, and atmosphere. We made our reservations well in advance, which I highly recommend unless you want to sit at the bar. Our server was wonderful, and as he went over the evening specials, he was sure to point out some of his personal favorites. I had a gin cocktail that was delicious, and I chose the filet for dinner. The filet was topped with a chimichurri sauce and accompanied by a potato mash and seasonal vegetables. Everything was cooked perfectly, and the portions were generous. We ended our evening with a highly recommended slice of their key lime pie, and it was AMAZING. We will definitely be returning to Morgan's during our next visit to St. John!
Absolutely AMAZING food! My husband and I ate at Morgan's Mango for our first anniversary and everything was exceptional- from the service, to the atmosphere, to the food! The paella was the best I've had, better than Barcelona and Madrid! The Mango Colada drinks were sweet, refreshing, and filling. The Key Lime Pie was also one of the best I've ever had! Our server was also amazing and well versed with the menu. We ordered based off his recommendations and everything he recommended was spot-on! 5 stars!! Can't wait to go back!
Let me just put this out there right up front. I've been coming to "the islands" for 10 years and have had the privilege of eating many fine meals here. And this one has to go down as one of the top 5 best. The service was amazing, the atmosphere was classy without being snobby. Carrot Ginger Asparagus Soup. Just let those flavors swirl together in your mind. Paired that with a Mango Colada. A real one. Follow that up with Ceviche, Mussels and Pork Tenderloin and Ron Zacapa XO, finished off with a Key Lime Pie that was all original. They even timed the sunset. Perfect. read more

Delicious! They open at 530 and either make a reservation or eat at the bar. The key lime pie was just as good as we expected it to be based on other reviews. Definitely need to have that to finish off your meal. We tried the surf and turf with the fresh catch of the day which was halibut a huge piece compared to what you would get stateside and the Ribeye both were fantastic there was also a special appetizer which was three scallops and two shrimp which Was better than any scallops I've ever had . I usually don't even like scallops because they taste fishy and like rubber balls. We also have the paella And I could eat that every day so delicious. Fresh bread basket had 4 rolls and an herb butter. Great good, good service, and we would come back. About $260 for Dinner for two which is maybe a little pricey for The location but if I had this in the city it would probably be about $500. read more

Our first time on the island and visiting Morgan's Mango did not disappoint. Definitely make reservations in advance as they book up quick! We went on a Tuesday which is one of their lobster nights. The staff is right on point with their service and knowledge of the menu. We started with the appetizer special of the day which was a flash fried sushi roll and was so delicious. I ordered the lobster dinner (1 lb) and had more food than I knew what to do with. The lobster was cooked perfectly and accompanied with plantains and beans. Hubs decided on the coconut crusted grouper and had the best meal out in a long time. The sauce that is served alongside the grouper is such a nice surprise really complimenting the flavors of the grouper. We would 100% go back and try other items on the menu the next time we visit the island. read more
Outstanding food, service, atmosphere and YES, drinks! The bushwhacker is like starting dinner with a milkshake. Awesome drinks round 1. Paella was terrific as was the grouper and snapper. I would suggest that one should not leave for home without a dinner here! read more

Morgan's Mango is a must try on the island! The ambiance is great and was the perfect spot for my groups Christmas Eve dinner. Highly recommend making reservations ahead of time because this place gets packed! Appetizers: - pan seared lamb lollipops: ($18) this was hands down the best lamb I've ever tried. Perfectly cooked and juicy. Extremely flavorful from the tamarind-Cabernet reduction. - yellow fin tuna tartare: ($18) super fresh and perfectly paired with the yuca chips. A very refreshing app. - calarmares fritos: ($12) you can never go wrong with fried calamari! - malbec steamed mussels: ($16) these were really underwhelming and extremely tiny. Main courses: - creamy seafood paella: ($40) MUST TRY! I've only ever had traditional paella which is more dry. This creamy paella was so flavorful filled with mussels, shrimp, mahi, calamari in a rich creamy sauce. Our group loved this dish. - grilled mahi mahi: ($40) this was just okay. Considering we're on an island, thought the fish would be amazing but it wasn't anything special. - poppas ribeye steak: ($38) great steak, make sure you dip it in the sauce. read more

We made a reservation for Saturday night and glad that we did. There was long queue of people waiting to get a table. We ordered the Empanada de la casa and the bread basket to begin with, it was very good. We order the Lomo con chimi churri and lobster with saffron rice, beans and fried plantains every dish was scrumptious. We ordered the chocolate brownie to go. read more

We love to come here and eat when we are on island!! We usually come two times per trip! Best restaurant on the island in my option! It is pricey but worth it! The staff is always friendly and the ambiance is perfect! read more

We always eat at Morgan's Mango at least once per trip to St. John. Many great meals and good times. A family tradition for us. Our visit this trip was great in spite of a few mis-steps. Even though I made reservations a week before and confirmed when they sent a text the day of, someone else claimed our table right before we walked up to the hostess stand. Fortunately they sat the five of us immediately; so while it is disturbing to think some feel it is OK to steal a reservation (what jerks!) Morgan's didnt miss a beat so it had no effect on us. We enjoyed our conversations with our server and the manager, both of whom had close ties to our home towns and colleges. The drinks are great, the wine prices extremely reasonable (about the same you pay retail at Starfish Market!). The food is the star here, of course, and this visit did not disappoint, except for one goof with the fish (seems I got my daughter's fish (wahoo) served with the accompaniments my fish (sea bass) was to have but didn't notice until I had eaten it... sorry daughter #1!) Wow. Another wonderful meal here at Morgan's Mango! We made a reservation and were so glad we did because this place was really busy. Everything we ordered was amazing, but the red snapper (fish of the day) was PHENOMENAL. Please do yourself a favor and order it. The fish was flaky and melted on your tongue. Other things we ordered were the lamb lollipops (so good), coconut shrimp, grouper, seafood paella, empanadas, local wahoo (also the fish of the day), and a bunch of drinks. Dessert was delicious! And was consumed completely before any of us remembered to take a picture. But we had the white chocolate banana pecan bread pudding, chocolate torte with guava mousse, and of course the key lime pie. All were fantastic. Don't forget, parking here is a little bit difficult (not a lot of parking spots) so give yourself some extra time to drive around looking for a spot. read more

All the other restaurants we wanted to visit in Cruz bay were booked and after sunset drinks in the beach we wanted a good resto before taking the ferry back to to St Thomas. Ambiance is great, we were able to get. 7:45p reservation so we stopped at longboard for a quick drink. All the food items ordered with our group were on point. The osso bucco, the steak, the vegan options, the wahoo ... and the dessert too. Staff was decent, we had to remind them we needed to catch the 10p ferry off the island. Overall food came out on time. We've already recommend the resto to others we've met. read more

We went for a special occasion dinner and enjoyed it a lot. There were several specials offered and everything on the menu looked great. My aperol spritz was fantastic and so refreshing. This is a gorgeous open air restaurant but plenty of fans. The tostones appetizer was fantastic great flavor! The gnocchi special was outstanding. The key lime pie was terrific! I would love to eat here again. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly as was other staff who helped us with drinks and sine tasting. I'm so glad we were able to get a reservation for a special birthday dinner! read more

Morgan's Mango opened on the island of Saint John in 1992. Their food is delicious and their service is exceptional. It is a restaurant that you have to put on your list of places to visit while in the island. Make a reservation or you will most likely be disappointed by either not getting in or not dining at the time that suits you best. The menu is fun and the atmosphere is relaxing. We started with the calamari. It is highly recommended and after trying it we wanted a second order. For dinner we decided to go with the grouper and a steak. The grouper is coconut panko encrusted and comes with a potato and yuca mash. The grouper was fresh, wonderfully seasoned and moist. I also had a side of plantains that were amazing. The steak was marinated in a pickapepper sauce and grilled to perfection. There is an impressive list of desserts but we were beyond full and had to pass. read more

The food here is good but overpriced for the quality. It's good, but not THAT good. One thing that I do like is that they have more Caribbean flavours vs. just catering to American tastes. Also, definitely save room to try the key lime pie! Cocktails: the Hugo cocktail is a frozen fruity delight! Not sure how much alcohol it really has but it tastes like a fruit smoothie. The Mango drink though was super strong! It tastes like a dash of mango purée and then pure liqueur. Morgan's Ceviche: Light and refreshing, this was a great appetizer to start off the dinner. Don't expect the Peruvian style, but the salsa & red snapper is still really good, plus they've got yuca chips! Coconut panko crusted grouper: This was one of the better dishes, but I don't know if it's really worth $45? It was light breaded and crisp, with a nice hint of coconut, but nothing else really stood out. The broccoli and mashed potatoes were the same for the steak dish, so there's no sense of 'pairing' flavors with the right food, more like here's your protein and some side veggies that we make for every dish. Chimi churri steak: Wow was I disappointed. I mean I know I shouldn't expect much for steak on an island, but for a $40 filet mignon I expected a little more tender or better quality cut. The meat was cooked medium rare as requested, but boy was it tougher than a chew toy. Unfortunately, because of COVID, they DON'T HAVE STEAK KNIVES. So I got a serious arm workout trying to cut each piece of this tough steak. The chimichurri sauce was probably the best part of this dish. Key lime pie: I would probably come back just to eat this, the graham crust and key lime was a perfect balance with the light mousse on top. It wasn't too sweet or heavy, and each bite made me crave more (though I do have a sweet tooth). read more
