The donuts here are phenomenal, some days they sell out completely before you can even make it there. Even the donut holes are above average. I thought I could save some to eat for the next day and I kept going back for more until they were gone! They also have cookies, muffins, loaves of bread, rolls, and other bakery items. They even had some gluten free items the last time I was there. They have an area with a bunch of neat things you can buy, all local vendors I assume. And then on the other side they have a room that you can sit and enjoy your food and drink. There aren't a ton of seats for that, but I think most people don't stick around anyway. It's a busy place - whenever I go, it's a constant stream of customers in and out of the door. The customer service was just okay, to be honest. The dessert was very good and delicious. The reason for the low rating is cause their nutrition facts label is totally incorrect, not just be a small margin but by 3-5x off calorie wise. Their carrot cake slice is listed at only 170 calories per slice(which is labeled as 1 serving) but in reality that's not even possible doing the math. The real caloric intake it should say is 450-800 calories. Very disappointed. read more

YUM! We are donut connoisseurs. I don't mean Dunkin' - that garbage doesn't count. I could expand on this topic, but that's not what this review is about. We love a local bakery and Morat's did NOT disappoint. We got 2 breakfast sandwiches to eat in the car for the ride home (approx 15 minutes away). Served on Morat's English Muffin bread it came with a sausage patty, fried egg and American cheese. The whole thing had been grilled in butter and was SO good! We got an assortment of donuts, pretty much one of everything. I don't know if I could pick a favorite yet, to still have more to try. Also picked up some treats for the doggo waiting for us in the car! The service was great. The young woman that helped us was quiet, but friendly. Prices are higher than Dunkin' and Wesco - but you get what you pay for and Morat's is worth every penny. read more

We were driving by and saw the sign for this bakery so of course we had to stop and see what they had. Soooo glad we did! The Apple fritter was nice and appley but not crispy which is my favorite. The crumb doubts and donut holes were even the plain donut holes were delicious They had a special flavored baked good but were out. Vegan donut selection is a nice option. I want to support local, but I wish local tasted a little better. I think Morat's is barely above grocery store quality. Cookies were a bit hard and dounuts tasted a bit cheap. It's nice that they offer a drive-through, which is especially helpful during all the COVID-19 craziness, however, I have to have a pretty strong baked good craving to stock up on the generic tasting treats here. read more

I grew up in the Midwest. Saturday mornings at a local bakery we're a staple for my family. We'd been told that Morat's was a good one when we told some friends we'd be in Muskegon. We were not disappointed. We found ourselves in Muskegon for a wedding. It seemed an unlikely city to find the best bakery I've ever been to. And yet... That's a bold statement. But from the friendly staff, the atmosphere, the incredible smells, the deliciousness and the prices, it was difficult to find anything wrong here. We went on day one and got a selection of doughnuts. The apple fritter stood out. The scones were the perfect texture and loaded with flavor. The doughnut still warm, tender, sweet, big. Really big. On day 2 we went back for three dozen doughnut holes for a few bucks. They were little bites of heaven that we kept nibbling on through the morning. Get the doughnut holes!! We didn't taste the breads or cakes, but my suspicion is you can't go wrong here. It's the kind of place I wish we had in my current city. In fact, EVERY city should have a place like this. I hope Muskegon knows how lucky it is. I'm not sure how often we'll get back to Muskegon, but I know if and when we do, Morat's will be on our list of stops. read more

This place is gross. I was eating in the dining area and I went to get a drink and in one of the coolers next to the drinks all the shelves had MOLD on them. I couldn't believe it but there it was. Gross!!! I had went and told the employee that their shelves had mold on them and she didn't even care. I had asked to speak with the manager or owner but nobody ever came. They ignored me. Love this bakery! I'm from a big city on the East Coast and I'm used to excellent food. This bakery did not disappoint. Sit down and have a cup of excellent coffee and chocolate croissant. Morat's is a fantastic bakery. We have been there twice with the kids for a treat, and the kids love it. They have a great selection. This past week we tried some of their garlic dinner rolls, which were fantastic. So fresh and definitely gave our sloppy joes an upgrade. I really like the eating area with all the games displayed. You won't find donuts anywhere in town that are as tasty and loaded as these. Their products are a little pricey, but you get a great product. The service is polite, and they are meticulously careful with getting the orders right. They slice their loaves of bread when you order them, and not before. I went to this location a few months ago and the specialty donut of the day was a Samoa. That sounded amazing, so as my family and I went inside there was only one customer at the counter. Giving this customer the respect to take her time, we all walked around taking in the decor and checking out all the other items they had for sale. Who knew this customer would take a very long time to get her order taken care of and in that time nobody came to help the new arrivals (US). When it was finally our turn to order, I asked to see which one of the small selection of donuts was the specialty donut of the day. The lady behind the counter looked at me like she had no idea what I was talking about. After pointing in the direction of the door, I informed her it was the donut of the day. Still nothing... a guy from the back (looked to be the head baker) came up and asked what donut I was asking for and apparently he didn't know what I was talking about (again I pointed at the sign by the door). He then continued to mention that he could put one together, but I only wanted to see what it looked like (to see if I'd like one) and didn't want to waste anymore time at this location, that's when he made a snarky remark of how it would be amazing looking if he had one put together.
