Posting about my personal experience about Moraga Taxi - this in my opinion unreliable, untrustworthy, and downright dishonest business. 1. They don't always honor reservations. I reserved a taxi from Moraga Taxi to take us to OAK at 5:30am. I received a text message confirmation, confirming our reservation. (See text below) At 5:30am, Moraga Taxi failed to show up. I called, and they told me they forgot to note my reservation despite confirming it the day before. I had to pack my car and speed to the airport because of their failure to do what a taxi company is supposed to do - show up when scheduled. 2. They make apologies and offers to make things right that they have no intention of following through. They reached out via text and assured me that they "stand by their customers" and that they would pay for my parking, give me a credit for inconvenience, and reimburse my flight if that was necessary. (See their text below). After returning, I did what they asked - sent them the receipt and asked for parking reimbursement. They agreed, and said they would be sending a check right away. (see their text). Then, nothing. 3. They make contradictory statements about following through on their own representations. I followed up (see texts). They first claimed their insurance would send the check. Then they claimed if the insurance does not send it, they would. Again, nothing. Again, no response to the follow-ups. Taxi companies complain about rideshare taking away their business, and pride themselves on "reliability." Well, not in the case of Moraga Taxi. Buyer beware - they may or may not show up, then apologize, then lie to you about "making things right." The dishonestly is blatant; it's right there in their own words. Lastly, I know many will come to the defense of Moraga Taxi and post about their positive experiences. That's fine, and I am glad everything worked out for those of you who actually got good service out of it. Go ahead and continue to use what makes your life easier. The point of this post is to warn others that hiring Moraga Taxi is like tossing a coin, but if you land on the wrong side, don't expect them to come through for you. They will apologize. They will lie and not follow through. And if you are a sucker like me, you will waste time and $$ believing them. read more

The first time I used this service, everything was smooth and easy. Communicating was straight forward and I got my request accepted quickly. The driver was perfectly on time and polite throughout the ride. I booked the taxi one day early. When I tried to book another ride on short notice, I was less lucky. Unfortunately, no driver was available. Overall, great service if you know you need a taxi in advance or during off-peak hours. read more

Moraga Taxi has excellent service, nice drivers with great value. We've always used them for our family of 5 with 3 carseats and LOTS of luggage to go to the airport and they never disappoint. It was simple to pre-schedule a pick up by texting Moraga Taxi. Our driver arrived early and was very friendly while taking us to the Oakland Aiirport. We have sometimes had problems getting Uber to pick us up early in the morning in Lafayette. So this is a great alternative. The cost was $63 plus tip., which is slightly more than the cost of Uber but worth it for the peace of mind. We love supporting a local business and highly recommend Moraga taxi. read more

I called to book a taxi as I assumed that they would be more reliable then a Lyft or Uber at 6am headed out of Moraga side of Lafayette, to the Oakland Airport. There is no better way to really piss a traveler off then leaving them to call wondering where you are, at 15 min late... then blame the customer for not making a reservation... when I called from my phone memory(so I know the exact time I made the reservation!) Any mom traveling on her own with kids will tell you that we need a little extra time so don't ask me what time my flight is!! I know the amount of time I need to travel and thus my chosen time for the reservation. Two stars for not stranding me when you knew I was already upset. We made it to our flight but never again will Moraga taxi get my business! Reliable:NOT bring on Uber or Lyft! read more

Recommendation for Moraga Taxi (phone 510-837-4535) Just wanted to put out a reminder and recommendation of our very own local Taxi company, Moraga Taxi (925-588-1915). In short, I didnt have my car for a couple days as it was being repaired and on a weekday afternoon needed urgently to go to Walnut Creek. After trying for 45 minutes I was unable to get a driver from either Uber or Lyft to come to Moraga and pick me up for the trip to Walnut Creek. The Uber app said their service was busy, try again later. For 45 minutes it said this. I also tried Lyft, and would get a driver assigned and then that driver would cancel and another driver would be assigned and they would cancel and over and over again. If this was an emergency I would have been completely screwed. I finally called our reliable local Moraga Taxi, and was promptly picked up and taken to my destination in Walnut Creek at a very reasonable price. What a relief to have them to here. Excellent service. We had completely forgotten to book a ride home from SFO to our home in Orinda on New Year's Eve. I called Moraga Taxi from the airport on the East Coast just minutes before boarding. Imagine my relief when they said they would send someone to pick us up. They kept in touch with us every step of the way - very reassuring- and the car arrived well before five minutes. The car was clean, the driver was skilled, polite, and friendly. I work locally and occasionally need to call cabs for patrons. Not once in all the times I have called have they ever had a cab available. How you have no cabs available on Friday and Saturday nights in this small town is beyond me. You can't complain about businesses like Uber and Lyft stealing your business if you don't ever actually have drivers available. If you have to call a cab in the area, don't call Moraga Taxi. read more

We were scheduled to be picked up from our home and driven to SFO for our vacation in Greece. Moraga Taxi did not show up and we missed our flight. I will spare you the ensuing nightmare, accompanied with small children. At first they were apologetic and accepted responsibility, offered to pay for our added costs and inconvenience but after I sent them an email with my added costs things turned ugly. Scheduling very easy. Text the owner ahead of time with the details of your trip- pickup, drop off, time etc and he gets back within a few minutes or no more than an hour. I really appreciate that convenience. Also, no charge for waiting - we took the taxi into SF for a fancy dinner (3+ hours), & then texted when we were ready for pickup. Awesome. Great service! Friendly, clean and comfortable. Plenty of room in the trunk for a foldable or rolling walker or crutches. Comfortably seated. Early or right on time. Timely to destination. Square transmits the receipt back by email. Sign with a pinky. And it's done. Or the driver will wait and drive you home. I've used them for all sorts of medical appointments especially since breaking my driving foot. Service beyond the call of duty: on short notice, when all their drivers were previously occupied, they arranged for a different taxi service to pick us up!! Wow!! I can't say enough good things about Alan and his service. My mother-in-law's flight from the UK to SFO arrived in the middle of the work day and of course it happened that both my husband and I ended up with committments we couldn't get out of. My mother-in-law is in her 70s and doesn't have an international phone plan, so we wanted to find someone to meet her in the arrivals area after she cleared customs so she wouldn't have to worry about finding a car. Alan went above and beyond to meet her and waited over an hour for her to get through customs once they deplaned. He asked me to send a picture of her so he could look out for her and even held a sign with her name. He texted me to let me know when she was safely through and that they were on their way. They then sat through nearly two hours of terrible traffic, only for him to try to tell me that my tip was too much. Such a wonderful service. I found them on a Facebook referral company for a flat rate to San Francisco airport. Called them and set a pick up at home to the airport as well as pick up at the airport and drive to home. They were a bit late picking us up at home but still in plenty of time to get us on time, and gave us five dollars off for being a bit late. Picked us up at the airport right on time and even had bottled waters for us in the vehicle. Great service. Friendly people. My husband left his hat in the cab and realized it the next day. Called them and it was there, and they brought it to our home two days later. Great company!!! read more

Have had mixed results with Lyft for early morning rides to OAK from the Lamorinda area. Called Moraga Taxi, found their rates competitive and hoped they would be more reliable. For a 6:05am flight I needed a 3:45am pickup. The driver was on time, maybe even a little early. Got to OAK in plenty of time and had a pleasant chat along the way. Afterwards, I realized my Square receipt hadn't been forwarded. So I texted a few days later and a receipt was emailed to me right away. Highly recommended, especially for early morning airport runs. read more

The black prius taxis in the fleet REEK of cigs, apparently they prefer to smoke in their cars instead of stepping out for it. I've seen people walk right past them at BART if there is another taxi company alternative behind them. I think they have lower rates to the airport. read more

I called Moraga taxi when I needed a ride in a hurry and got a wonderful driver (I think his name was Alan? sorry I don't remember) who treated me very well. Very considerate and caring; my situation was a health emergency although not life-threatening, and it was a relief not to have to wait a long time, as I've done with Lyft. I needed a ride home again at around 3 am and the same driver picked me up and got me home safely. Will definitely call this company again when I need a cab. read more
