Crushing disappointment! I was psyched to try this place based on their delicious sounding menu. I admit, I'm a sucker for claims of "clean" food. Also, they're just a five-minute walk from my apartment! Turns out it was all too good to be true.
The first disappointment was the cook wearing his mask under his chin, and another employee not wearing a mask at all. Also maskless: the few diners in various stages of not-eating, along with delivery drivers waiting for their orders. Regardless, I went ahead and ordered.
I requested "sin cebolla" which the server repeated. Upon arriving home, I discovered the chilaquiles were covered in pickled onions. I pulled these off only to discover the dish was strewn with sauteed onions! I went back and requested a different menu item, but the server wouldn't agree to switch. Instead they just pulled out most (not all) of the onions - which obviously I could've done myself at home - and gave the same gross dish back to me. Yuck-o.
Even if they hadn't ignored my request for no onions, this was a two-star dish at best, served cold with the chips still crunchy. Was I supposed to bake it myself? As it came, it wasn't chilaquiles but chips and salsa - just with several forms of onions mixed in.
So much for clean eating! I was actually sick for two days after this, and while I can't say 100% that it was Mora Mora, I'd only been eating safe things at home before that - no reason to suspect anything else. In any case, I'm in no rush to give them a second chance.
Giving two stars only because they are vegan, so at least I was the only animal to suffer because of this awful dish. read more
