We just spent 2 weeks here in our 5th wheel, backed up to the river and didn't want to leave! The owners, Mary and Gary take pride in their campground - the grass was so green and flower accents were so pretty. We enjoyed free coffee and pastries in the office on multiple occasions, the washer and dryers were clean and reasonably priced and this campground caters to adults so it was very quiet and peaceful sitting by the river any time of day. Mary created a very detailed list of things to do in the area and it was quite handy. read more

It was fine until our daughter and grandchildren came to visit. The owner Mary yelled at our daughter after she was told to go talk to her at the house or store by her husband to register as guests. She was very rude to our daughter and her attitude was unprofessional, especially for a business that is supposed to care for customers! Children are not allowed in this RV campground, yet nowhere does it state that in the paperwork given to us. I do not recommend staying at this campground because of their lack of professionalism. Great little park right on a gorgeous river. Sites that back up to it are level and full service. Has some nice pull through sites too. Owners are nice and accommodating. We visited a sugar shack and got local maple syrup, Ben and Jerry's pre scheduled a factor tour. Mary & Gary, owners, make you feel very welcome. You can sit & talk on their porch with Mary & you'll find Gary always willing to talk even if he's doing something in the campground. My husband & I love visiting here every year. A lot of the sites are along the River. You can watch the ducks float by. It's clean, pretty and very quiet. My wife and I along with our dogs have been staying here since 2009. Gary and Mary run an absolutely beautiful campground right on the banks of the Moose River. We picked this campground due to it's proximity to Dog Mountain. It is a very quiet campground and it has all the amenities. It was great 16 years ago and it has only gotten better. The sites are large and there are lots of places to visit. We enjoy taking the dogs to the Moore Reservoir as well. We will never camp anywhere else while in the Northeast Kingdom. read more

My husband and I, plus our two dogs, rented the one cabin at the campground for a weekend. It's in a beautiful spot right on the river and tucked away at the very end of the campground, which gives you some privacy. The double bed was comfortable, the kitchen and supplies were sufficient for cooking some simple meals, and the small deck was nice for sitting outside in the evening. It was remarkably quiet for a campground, and both the host and the other guests were friendly. Although the on-site dog park had been destroyed by recent flooding, it is just minutes from Dog Mountain, a fabulous place where we brought our dogs to run free. read more

We stayed at Moose River Campground the weekend before Memorial Day weekend so that we could attend the New England Golden Jubilee at Dog Mountain. I'm so glad we made it a four-day weekend because our stay was wonderful! I only wish we had made it an entire week. This is a small campground that is very well maintained. The owners, Mary and Gary, go out of their way to make sure everyone's stay is enjoyable. From the friendly greeting we received by Mary upon arrival and check-in to the end of our visit when Gary saw us off after checking that our departure was trouble free - there is no doubt they take pride in their little piece of Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. The campground is very pet friendly. We were accompanied by our two Golden Retrievers, who really enjoyed the large dog park. Because of the event at Dog Mountain, there were many Goldens in the campground over the weekend. Our site backed up to the Moose River. The site had a gravel pad for our fifth wheel with a nicely groomed grass lawn surrounding it. We sat outside listening to the sound of the stream and the birds singing. It was so quiet and peaceful. The only downside to our visit was that there was a statewide ban on burning due to dry weather, so we weren't able to have a campfire. We appreciate that this campground caters to adults and that the owners ensure everyone abides by the park rules. What a perfectly relaxing time we had! We will definitely visit again! read more

Nice quiet RV type campground with a few tent sites. Most day camping is along the river which makes for a serene camping experience. Very nice welcome and lots of information provided about local activities and points of interest. Great community bonfire on Saturday night. Friendly campers and very clean facilities. Only hick is the bathrooms need upgrading as they lack some privacy and there is no heat so if it is fall or early spring it feels cold coming out of the shower. We plan to be back! read more

This place is truly one if the nicest, well kept campgrounds we have ever stayed in. Our site, #12, is plenty long enough for our 31 ft fifth wheel and F250. It has a fire ring and picnic table and is right on the river with plenty of shade. I didn't see any bad sites. It's a small, peaceful campground located on the Moose River. The river itself is gorgeous. It is not deep and I am told that there are fish in there if you are into fishing. We are enjoying watching the birds, the ducks and a cute family of mink playing in the evenings. The campground is geared towards adults, which my husband and I appreciate. (No pool, no play area= no noise! Hallelujah!) The campground is right on hwy 2 and easy in, easy out. The owners, Mary and Gary are great people, friendly and helpful! The little store has a nice selection of items and there is always coffee and tea available and sometimes bagels or cookies or donuts. Fantastic front porch where you can sit and visit with the owners, other campers and their pups and yes, even the resident cats! Mary is a fellow quilter/sew crafter and I enjoyed chatting about quilts and sewing machines with her. When you check in, they have a bag for you that contains a wealth of information about the area and includes information on a site and taste tour called the Belly Ache Tour with a map and directions. They really put a lot of thought into ways to help their guests enjoy Vermont. We will definitely be coming back. The campground has a small laundromat, 2 washers and 2 dryers. They work very well and are very reasonable in price. read more

We loved this campground! We were in site 12 next to the river, it was fair size. Some of the other sites were spacious. The bathrooms were very clean. The owners were very nice and had put together a pamphlet of very useful information. They also had a pamphlet called The Belly Ache Tour. It took you to a lot of interesting places. We enjoyed our 3 night stay by the river. Quiet, friendly, well maintained small park for adults but not for kids. We were glad that the closest Veterinary Hospital was only 17 miles away as our "fur baby" needed care. Free wifi and cable was nice but could have used 3 passwords instead of only 2. We stayed at Moose River CG over a holiday weekend. The customer service is great. A+ Owners live onsite and are there to keep an eye on things. All RV sites have water, sewer, electric, cable, and wi-fi which is fantastic. For us, we have no children and this campground caters to us, which we enjoy. There is no playgound or unruly children which is great. The campground is small. It borders busy US Rt 2 in front, and then the Moose river in the back, so there is not much space or extended areas for hiking, dog walking, etc. Another positive, the owners have special weekend and holiday activities such as FREE potlucks chicken BBQ, karaoke, bonfires, and entertainment. Also free coffee and donuts in the office. Dog friendly, leached only, and fines for those who do not pick up after their pet. I even got a big hug from the owner when we left. Our stay was in a 24' cabin set along the rolling river that runs alongside the campground. The setting was private, the cabin was cozy and clean. The grounds were also clean and well maintained. The campground caters to adults and is very welcoming of dogs, There is a fenced play area for dogs set away from the camping area. There was a nice cookout during our stay. Although it was raining that day there was a large covered pavilion with tables. Mary and Gary are very nice. It was nice to speak with a person when making our reservations, receive an email confirming our reservations, and a reminder a week before our stay. Mary was very kind and welcoming upon our arrival. We received a bag with detailed information about local amenities - restaurants, stores, churches - and attractions. There is a covered porch outside the office with sit, relax and enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning. There was plenty of firewood and ice readily available for purchase. This was our first stay but will not be our last! read more

This park is small and lovely. We camped right on the river, beautiful spot and enjoyed just listening to the river. The owners were very nice and accommodating. When we arrived they give us a bag full of goodies including a list of sites to see and the directions to get there. I haven't seen that in any other campground on two trips across United States. This was our first trip to the beautiful state of Vermont and the little Moose River Campground was a beautiful and magical place to call home for a week there. Being there for a leaf tour in October, the campground is filled with different species of trees that showed off for us the whole time. Very friendly to dogs (one of the suggested stops was Dog Mountain nearby which was awesome), we were treated to a cute, fall-themed park that was well-maintained and easy to get in and out of daily. We were greeted with a list of things to see, local services and eateries along with a detailed list of campground amenities. Highly recommend this campground to one and all. read more

We've been all over the US and Canada in our RV and have stayed at a number of campgrounds. This is our number 1 campground. The owners are terrific, very friendly and helpful. The campground is super clean. The layout is nice. They have Moose items all over the campground. We were in site 23 which is amazing. Our door opened up to a patio just a few short feet to the river. There was fencing on both sides of this site so you had complete privacy. And with this site a free bundle of firewood each day. If you get a chance to stay here, do it. read more

We recently stayed in the cabin at Moose River Campground in Saint Johnsbury, Vermont and LOVED IT. The cabin had everything one could need from A/C, kitchen, gas grill and a private bathroom plus it sits on the beautiful Moose River. The campground is well maintained, everyone is friendly and we had a fantastic time with our friends who were in their campers on each side of us. Thank you Moose River Campground!! Truly a riverside delight! Sites were mainly level,?sloping a bit towRds the creek. Gravel surface was firm and secure. We had a 30-amp site with steady power and good water. Sewer is a holding tank on each site. Well-kept grounds, a fun office (owner bakes brownies!) sparkling clean laundry room and your pups are welcome everywhere!! A bit of road noise but mostly masked by the creek. They have purchased land to build a dog park, so it's coming. We will definitely return! read more

We go to Moose River every year. Great sites, super clean, green lawns with amazing flower beds, quiet, and very friendly atmosphere. We love it. Owners Mary and Gary are wonderful people. Was harassed and intimidated the entire stay. Was promised a campsite by the river. I was instead placed in the middle of the campground for all to parade around while my dogs barked at each person walking by. When my father-in-law walked our dogs around, a spaniel attacked them. When we reported this to the owner Mary, she simply replied "I could care less about what you say. That dog is a sweetheart and he would never hurt anyone. You are not welcome back here again because your dogs have been barking and have been in the flower beds". The owners simply don't care about customer service or anyone else at this site beside their "good ole boys". Lousy atmosphere. I expected a river to play in and swim and tube in like the pictures on the website, but all I saw was a stream 1 ft deep at most. There is also cheesy country music on the weekends that passes as "entertainment" with drunks getting up on stage and joining in on the microphone. read more

Stay Away! 1. We weren't given the sight we reserved 2. Campground very small, no privacy, people parading past the campsite constantly 3. More like a private party than a campground, LOTS of drinking, ALL day 4. LOUD country music blasted over loudspeaker until 10-11pm at night. We could hear it inside our RV loud and clear 5. Not permitted to use outdoor carpet/mat ( the kind that campers use to cut down on dirt being tracked inside) 6. The electric outlet was not compatable with our RV (see #1) we had to go out and purchase an adapter in order to have electric. 7. Most importantly, the management was nasty, and rude. I wouldn't go back for free so I certainly wouldnt suggest paying to stay there. read more

We just spent a month at Moose River Campground in our 35 foot 5th wheel and loved every second of our stay! Our pull through site was huge, with full hook up and 50 AMP service. There is a good amount of space between sites and the Park is immaculately maintained. The Park is small and quiet, the owners and people who work there are friendly and welcoming. There is a nice grassy Dog Park where my dog and I played Fetch nearly every day. One day there was a big muddy hole in the Dog park that someone's dog had dug. When we returned the next day the hole was nicely filled, no more mud! The owners and workers pay attention to every detail of maintenance and it shows! The area is wonderful with numerous woodsy Rail Trails for hiking and biking, lovely local shops (Dog Mountain Gallery is definitely worth a visit if you love dogs). Riley's Fish Shack has yummy food and Eddie's Bakery (in Waterford VT about 6 miles away) makes Cobblestone Cinnamon Bread that is addicting. Call first to be sure he has some. We will definitely return to Moose River Campground, can't wait! Highly recommended. read more

There are few RV parks We would give 5 stars, but this one does fit the 5-star category. The "office/store may not be large and spacious but the scenery and landscaping makes up for it. The park was beautifully landscaped with a large, well maintained pavilion. The staff was most congenial, right down to having donuts and coffee available in the mornings. The management has gone above and beyond the average. Would you believe they have put together a "Bellyache Tour" guide for those of us who have never been in the area. This tour takes you to visit with the Birdman, then on to maple syrup manufacturers, then to cheese factories, to the original Ben and Jerry's ice cream factory. It takes you to Montpelier, VT--the Capitol of Vermont. On then to the Vonn Trapp home; remember the Sound of Music? We left the campground about 9:30 a.m. And did not get back until nearly 7 p.m. When we did return, we were treated to waves from at least two of the staff. People that live close enough to use this park are definitely some privileged campers. read more
