After receiving my exam from Dr. Rob Pate who I would recommend, I was told by the staff that my insurance was no longer in network since the practice had been sold to a larger corporation. I asked that they work with me on the charge as it seemed wrong to charge me the full amount since the practice is still showing in network on my insurance company's website. I was basically told by the billing person, sorry, pay the bill. Brett Basden built this practice by building the trust of the people of Auburn, including me, my father-in-law, mother-in-law, and the rest of my family. Now that trust has been sold to the highest bidder and I don't believe this is the way Dr. Basden or Dr. Pate want to do business. Unfortunately, it seems that they don't mind losing a patient over an $115 bill. What a shame. I will not be back.

I made my situation very clear BEFORE my appointment and explained it to three different employees. I explained that I have a longstanding vision issue where one of my eyes cannot be corrected with a traditional glasses prescription, and that I have always received a "dummy lens" for that eye. No prescription, just plain glass like the try on pairs. I have seen countless optometrists throughout my life and have never had an issue getting my prescription because of this. I completely understand that not every provider may be able to accommodate my particular situation. My issue is not that they were unable to help me. My issue is that I disclosed the situation multiple times BEFORE even signing in for an appointment, they proceeded with my appointment, and was then charged $80 for an exam they ultimately could not complete. It is also important to understand how this location operates. There is no optometrist physically at the location. The appointment is conducted virtually, with an eye technician performing the initial portion of the exam, and an optometrist apparently reviewing the information remotely and issuing the prescription. In my case, I never even saw or spoke with the optometrist. Again, I am not leaving this review simply because they couldn't help me. I am disappointed because I was completely transparent about my situation ahead of time, yet I was still charged $80 for an exam that was not completed. For me, that made the entire experience a complete waste of both my time and my money.

I saw another review that implied that he pushes cataract surgery but that certainly has not been the case with me. I keep asking for it and he says that I really don't need it yet. I'm seventy five. I also like a video board that he has in the room that allows you - while you're waiting - to research several things such as eye anatomy and diseases. I was able to use the Board to look at my current glaucoma condition, what it meant etc. I highly recommend Dr Weeks. He is certainly smart enough; he began his studies with a Chemical Engineering degree from Auburn.

STAY AWAY!!!They charged my husband for an exam that should have been covered under our insurance…read more They also tried to charge him $3000 for some contact lenses that are also covered under insurance. Instead of doing their job and contacting the insurance companies to see how the exam and contacts should be billed, they stated they offer a payment plan to help with the costs. After speaking with the insurance company myself and verifying the coverage, I called them back and they stated they would reach out to them and get things corrected. It's been roughly a month and $300 in the whole and my husband is still waiting on a call back from them. The Office Manager and Billing are never around to take the call. I would not recommend them to anyone. I myself, had to follow up with them regarding some contacts they were suppose to order for me after a month of no updates.

I received a text Friday July 3rd stating her glasses were in but we couldn't pick them up until today. We showed up and her glasses were not there, and the receptionist said we didn't leave them. We left them with the lady in the back and she walked them forward to the front where I paid the receptionist. They lost my mom's glasses and the receptionist could have cared less stating, "well I didn't lose them". Yes, you did. Eventually someone took us in the back in the back and stated that they would have to review the security camera as proof we did indeed leave them. Okay, fine I have no issue with that. Then she proceeds to tell me that the person that has the authority to review the cameras is traveling and out of the office for 3-weeks. This is a problem. My mom is 81-years old and really needs her glasses. Those were her main frames and the purpose of her leaving them there was to have sent them off and have the lenses input. To be fair they reimbursed the $195 I paid for the replacement lenses, but she needs her original frames in order to get them replaced at another location. I am seeking the frames we originally left there to be found and I do not think I am being unreasonable. Unfortunately, waiting three weeks is not an option and it should not be since your office lost them in the first place. I honestly feel the staff could care less and it is very disheartening.

I called to speak to a manager once I made it back to work and the receptionist was the manager who hung up in my face mid through my complaint.

Today I went and had my eyes checked and I am proud to say I still have 20/20 vision, and at 75 years of age that's pretty darn good. I even bought a new pair of glasses at the end of December 2018 and they were 475.00 dollars. Which they need to be adjusted. Haven't even been able to wear them. I have VSP and they are not a provider so I can not use them, I called and explained and I asked for a set of contacts to wear until I could find a provider. Now mind you my script is STILL current, has not expired. I offered to pay for 1 pair. I have spent over 1000 dollars with them in the last year. They told me NO, they just couldn't do that. I'll be contacting my benefit plan and see what I can do to recoup the 500 glasses in dec that I can not wear. Not good business practices.
