Senior Citizen here. I was referred by my primary care doctor and I quickly got an appt. I was seen by Dr. Conner Godwin. My eyes had not been examined in 7 years; i was anxious about cataracts, dry eyes, sagging eyelids and I also needed a new eye glass prescription. Dr. Godwin could not have been more professional, proficient, kind, and patient with me. We are moving forward with a Cataract Evaluation; then proceed with treatment or going with the new prescription as indicated. Due to a recent fall, his glasses were damaged and unwearable. Dr. Denton was not in the day I went to the office for assistance, however, the office staff collected my contact information and Dr. Denton personally phoned the next day. My husband and I are long time patients at this clinic. Just last week we paid over $800.00 for a new pair of glasses for my husband -- way too much for one!! My husband tried to get in to see them today because of an issue with blood pooling in one eye. They would not work him in to check it out and told him it would be October! I called today because my daughter is a nurse Ora and knows Dr Basden. I called as a new patient and also told them my eye feels like there's something in it... first available is in May! I didn't expect a NP exam but thought they might see me to just check my eye and maybe get some drops but nope never happened. I asked if someone canceled could they call me but she was really short and informed me that there were many people ahead of me. Someone must be having a bad day ! Moores mill.... WORST OFFICE EVER. Front staff was rude as soon as we arrived. The techs did a great job with my boys but the doctor was very straight to the point, no communication and seemed bothered. The woman who fits for glasses was AWFUL and very rude. When I picked them up and asked for a copy of their prescriptions she didn't wanna give them to me. She mixed up their prescriptions and when I asked about it she tried to blame me and then realized she did mess up and order new pairs with an attitude. When arriving to pick up the new ordered glasses she was rude. I just called to ask for their pupillary distance since their glasses have ALREADY broke she refused and said I had to pay to receive it. Like what? Didn't Insurance already pay for the whole appointment? Why do I have to pay to find out something already paid for? I called another optometrist who is gonna see my kids and get me the PD without charge or hassle. read more

The doctors are great and so is most of the office staff but when there is no doctor on site they are not patient centered or friendly. Received an email at 11:40 on Friday before spring break week that said our glasses were in. When I called 3 minutes later and was told they were closing early that day at noon, I asked if they would wait a few extra minutes so I could make the drive there and they were very unhelpful. Would not wait an extra 5 minutes for me to drive across town. Said we could come in Monday. I told them we were leaving town and would be gone the entire week. That was my problem. I found Basden Eyecare randomly. I was driving on Dean's road and saw a sign for their office. I decided it wIas probably about time to get my eye examined so I pulled in and got an appointment for the next day. It is a very very nice facility. Big, clean and well organized. The front desk staff was very nice, they got all my paper work done quickly so that it was ready to go when I came back for my appointment. As a side note, one could also fill out the paperwork online. What an amazing concept. Didn't have to wait long at all before I was seen. I was impressed by the technology they had. Instead of having to read random numbers from a chart on the wall, the random numbers were shown on a screen via a computerized program. I saw Dr. Olive who was really nice and explained everything he did. I then moved on to pick new frames and got the most pleasant lady to help me. She gave honest opinions about the frames I picked which I really appreicated and was very helpful. Check out was also a breeze. I highly recommend Basden Eyecare for your optometry needs. I was beyond pleased with my experience at Basden! I had been putting my annual checkup off since January, and had been wearing my last set of contacts since March(ish). I like to live life on the edge. Actually, I'm just really good at procrastinating. The girl that took my information and did the basic stuff at the beginning of my appointment totally judged me, but I don't blame her. It was a great bonding moment. The rest of my appointment was peachy and my doctor had a sense of humor and answered some questions I had from my checkup the year before. The best part though was picking out my frames. I typically DESPISE this part of the process. I've actually successfully managed to avoid the whole thing for two years by only wearing contacts. The frames I typically go for have been out of style for sometime now and are hard to find. It also really doesn't help that I have a chubby face, big head, and my lenses are ridiculously thick. BUT, the sweet lady working that day made the process so much fun! She was patient with the thousand selfies I had to send to the bffs, had an honest opinion on frame styles, and validated my concerns about hiding the thickness of my lenses. She was wonderful. Really, this review was mostly based on her and how confident she made me feel about my $300 investment. I sadly don't remember her name, but Basden, I'm sure you know who she is. Keep her happy. They have the worst phone customer service of any office I deal with. No one calls back. I am left on hold (almost 5 minutes) each time I call, only to be transferred to someone who never answers their phone. Each time I leave a message, no one returns my call. Dr. Basden was a lifesaver in my time of need! A few months back, I had scratched my cornea and was unable to engage in everyday tasks due to light sensitivity. Even though Dr. Basden is not my primary eye doctor, as I am a student at Auburn and typically have my appointments back home, he and his staff we able to accommodate my emergency and get me an appointment for that same day. Dr. Basden started me on an antibacterial drop so that my eye did not become infected. I had a follow up appointment with him a few days later to ensure that everything was healing properly. Dr. Basden was very easy to talk to and was a humble man. We talked about his time at Auburn and different connections that we found in common. Whenever I left the appointment, he gave me his card in case I ever needed anything else from his office. I would recommend this clinic to anyone! read more

I am a patient of Dr Pate and I've had several interactions with the staff. I've found everyone to be caring and efficient. My left eye and right eye don't have the exact same problem and Dr Pate was able to adjust my prescription appropriately. I found the selection of frames to be adequate and I'm glad I've moved on from just using readers from the Dollar General. I'm still getting used to the progressive lenses but my vision is much better than before. read more

I have been a Basden client for years, but not after today. I have a pretty extreme astigmatism and now need custom contacts. Dr. Pate ordered a trial pair for me several weeks back and stressed that this is not the only brand from which he can order contacts for me, so if these are not great, call and ask that they try a different brand. I did just that. About three weeks into the first trial pair, I called and spoke with Brandy about ordering another trial pair as suggested by Dr. Pate. She told me that the company she would order from is fairly expensive, and they would send a full year of the contacts (4 pair) instead of just a trial. She quoted the price of the contacts and said she would need to check with Dr. Pate to make sure he is ok with ordering them because if they don't work for me, they clinic would be out $400 since the other three pair could not be returned. I clarified that they would give me the first pair as a trial and would pay for the contacts when I picked up the other three pair provided they worked for me. She confirmed this and said if I didn't hear back from her, the doctor had approved the order and they would let me know when the contacts arrived. I received a call yesterday that the trial pair is in, so I went earlier today to pick up and they asked me for $476 for one trial pair of contacts. Brandy came out to speak with me and I reminded her what she said on the phone and response was 'no, I did not say that'. I asked her to just give me a copy of my records and I would have another doctor handle it. She looked annoyed, dropped (literally) the two glass vials of contacts into the plastic bin she was carrying and turned to get my records copied. $4 later... I have no contacts. Horrible, disrespectful service. It doesn't matter how good the doctor is, if the staff are going to treat the customers this way, stay away. read more

Basden seems to value the time of their customers very little. I arrived on time for my appointment. 35 minutes later I was seen by the optician (at least I think that's what she was) for the standard eye tests/measurements. She left. 15 minutes later the doctor arrived. In total I waited 50 minutes for 10 minutes of service for a basic eye exam. No apologies given just business as usual, apparently. Furthermore, expect to wait at least 5 minutes on hold when calling the office. Medical businesses seem to forget that they are in the service industry; no different than a clothing store, restaurant, or bar. Customers can and should judge them on a level playing field. Lousy service and an outright disregard for customers' time are unacceptable regardless of the industry. read more

The staff at Basden was friendlier than any medical office I've ever encountered! As a new patient, they were able to see me within an hour of calling to make an appointment! The exam was thorough and painless, and I never felt rushed. They happily answered all my questions and the new office on Moores Mill is gorgeous! I also didn't have to wait at all upon arrival! I've always used Wal-Mart for my vision needs to save money, but the experienced staff and cost puts those "cheap" clinics to shame! The doctors are very good. Unfortunately the front desk workers are very rude and do not treat costumers with any respect. I have gone to pick up contacts after confirming on the phone which location they would be at. Both times they sent me to the incorrect location! And I was treated like an idiot both times! I had scratches on my lenses and couldn't find my other pair of glasses, went to them to order new lenses. Being a grad student, I don't have the ability to go without glasses for very long. They told me it was going to take 2-3 weeks to get a new pair of lenses finished and sent back. So, I searched long and hard for my other pair of glasses. The very next morning, I called back saying that I found my other pair of glasses and I asked to cancel my order. They told me that I couldn't cancel my order because the company had already finished the lenses, even though they said that they production wouldn't start for a week or so. I think they just lied to me so I "couldn't" cancel my order. The lenses were 300 dollars, and again being a grad student, I don't have a lot of cash to throw around. The lady said "well I guess you're going to have two pair of glasses now". Just felt as if they were rude and didn't care about the customer at all. Wouldn't recommend. Also, the appointment took about 2+ hours of my day. And they didn't seem like they were busy at all. That being said, the optometrist that I saw for my eye exam was great and nice. I just didn't have the best experience with the ladies that help sell the lenses and glasses. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. I' been going here since the 6th grade and I am now 22, every experience I've had with Basden Eyecare has been fine up until today. I called three times a month ago to order contacts and no one ever answered or called back. I am very busy so I had my mother call back and finally she got ahold of someone and ordered my contacts, gave her CC number over the phone and the woman said they would be ready by Thursday (3 days after the call). So, no one called to tell me they were ready so now 9 days after she said they would be ready I drove all the way across town, I live on the other side of Opelika (30 minutes away), the woman at the front desk said they weren't ordered. She continued to ignore me and talk to her coworker about Florida football and what they were going to eat for lunch while she took my payment and "placed the order". I took my receipt went outside and called my mother to make sure she ordered them and paid and she said yes. So I went back inside and the woman was annoyed and seemed disappointed that I had figured out that we both had been charged. She voided my transaction and told me that she "didn't see that there was a payment made before on September 22" (24 days ago) "but that no order was placed". Well maybe if you were paying attention in the first place and had some guest care you would have realized the mistakes. After I pick up my contacts this time I will no longer be using Basden Eyecare. Never in my life have I stepped into a office that I thought was so respectable and professional and come out completely horrified. read more

The doctors at Basden are all wonderful, but order glasses and contacts elsewhere. It's impossible to get in touch with anyone over the phone and when you leave a message with the contact department nobody calls back. My daughter was having headaches and needed glasses. We were told 1-2 weeks for them to come in. A month later, I called to check because I hadn't heard from anyone and was told "Oh they've been here". Meanwhile my 4 year old had a headache every day. I have continually had issues with getting contacts ordered, taking several weeks from the time I hear from anyone to when they come in and I'm notified. I will continue to go here for my annual exam but will never order glasses or contacts through them again. Luckily, they very quickly emailed me my prescription info, but only because I was lucky enough to have someone answer the phone. read more

I have been needing an eye appointment, and Basden seemed to be a great choice. My husband called to set up an appointment, and a woman answered and placed him on hold immediately. He waited on hold for about five minutes. Then, she came back and asked him whether or not he was a new patient and what he needed. She asked him to hold again, and he waited on hold for another five minutes. She came back a third time and asked him to hold again. Surprisingly, he agreed, but hung up after another three minutes had passed. If they truly were busy, she should have taken our information and offered to call us back. A few days later, I stopped by their office while I was out running errands and asked to schedule an appointment. One of the ladies at the front desk (there were three of them, and none of them seemed to be very busy) told me that I needed to go online and fill out the new patient paperwork before they would schedule an appointment for me. Okay,so that was not easy or convenient. I went home, and the online paperwork was long. My husband ended up doing it for me about a week later. Then, I called to set up an appointment. A woman answered the phone. She did not sound overly polite or professional. She put me on hold. Also, there is no hold music. The phone beeps at you over and over again, and that is a pain. After I had been on hold for a few minutes, she came back on the phone and started asking me all the information for the new patient form. I let her know that my husband had already filled this out for me because I was told they would not schedule an appointment until I completed the forms. She did not apologize for anything, even though I was pretty clearly frustrated at this point. She pulled up my form and scheduled the appointment. I'm about to cancel and go to Montgomery instead, even though Auburn would be much more convenient for me. Basden may have a great doctor and some great staff, but if so, I haven't met them yet and no longer plan to. read more

I wish I could give 1 star!! I was referred to Basden from a friend. The new patient paperwork can be done online, so that was cool. The building is really cute too and looks pretty clean. I got to my appointment and while checking in, the ladies at the front desk seemed to care more about their conversation with each other then with helping me. I saw Dr Pate, and he recommended prescription eye drops. (I was having light sensitivity/dry eyes/etc for weeks). I go to CVS to pick up my drops the next day and they couldn't fill them because the Dr had to do additional paperwork. I waited a week..called again and still no paperwork. Called Basden 2 weeks later and told them that I needed the paperwork to get my eyedrops and she put me on hold and then transferred me to another location. Finally spoke to someone and they said they would get the paperwork to CVS by the end of the week. Well, week 3 rolls around and guess what..still no paperwork! Called Basden yet again..with someone yet again saying they will turn it in by the end of the week. I desperately needed the drops because it was difficult for me to drive/work on the computer etc. I'm sorry but if you go to school for 4-8 years to become a Dr surely you can FILL OUT PAPERWORK!!! Did not go back to Basden, went to Vision World in the Auburn Mall and got my eyedrops and new contacts in TWO DAYS! And the people were much more friendly!! read more

If you are looking for an eye place that makes you feel comfortable with a courteous staff and friendly over all environment SKIP THIS PLACE. visited today and the two receptionists never spoke after I walked in..they did look at me but no greeting of any kind. The lady that was to help me pick out some frames had the personality of a barracuda. Just not friendly at all. Very snooty group of people. Dr. Basden is the best. He was able to spot a problem with my husbands eyes & got us into see a specialist the next day. His fast reaction time saved my husbands sight. I shutter to think what would have happened had my husband gone to a low cost doc in a box to get his check up!! My family will never go anywhere else.
