I have a fairly difficult specialty dye-job hairdo on top of one of the most difficult hair-types to deal with (coarse thick frizzy wiry curly kinky), so it's such a wondrous relief that Nicole has painstakingly figured out how to tame this unruly mop into submission! Her salon is decorated super cute, there's always good music playing, interesting conversation, and as she's the sole proprietor, it's lovely and relaxing to get to be the only client, which is especially nice during COVID-times. So glad I found Holly! I had my hair cut a year ago by an amazing hair artist, but she was in San Francisco. I spent hours researching places in Los Angeles that had a hair magician that could razor cut my frizzy wavy hair. I found her!!! Holly cut my hair in February, and it's grown out so perfectly. Two of my friends have been to Moonstone and their hair looks amazing. After pouring over Moonstone's instagram I rushed to make my own appointment ... I scheduled a cut with Holly and color with Nicole. I went in confident I'd be happy based on how thrilled my friends were (and how great they look), but both Nicole and Holly surpassed my expectations. Nicole gave me the most beautiful, natural and soft blonde ... she understood immediately what I wanted and was so much fun while working. Holly was such a joy. She understood what I wanted as well as what would most benefit my hair texture and face structure. By the time I was done I felt amazing and was totally in love with them both. The other amazing thing is that they both work to create color and cuts that allow you to go longer in-between (so less money and time in the long run). These women are crazy talented and I feel really lucky to have found them. I'm hooked. PS. That one sourpuss review below is definitely someone impossible to please. If you look at that reviewer's other reviews 90% of them are one or two star cranky and mean-spirited critical reviews. I mean, everyone is entitled to their opinion ... but some people seem to live to be bent out of shape about everything. Having met Holly, she's sweet as can be and cares about what you want and how you feel. If you are walking out of there unhappy, it might be because you don't know how to communicate very well ... or you have unrealistic expectations. read more

I cannot give Nicole enough stars!!! I walked in to Moonstone Studio having very little hope after dying my own hair and making a HUGE mistake (it's a long story). Nicole gave me a great consultation, listened to my opinions and had great feedback. I was expecting to still be pretty pink after she rinsed out the first application of dye, but she was done!! I was totally amazed. I was already happy with my haircut, and she dyed my hair around it. She must have a magic wand or something, because I've never had my hair done in such a timely manor, and gotten such amazing results. The salon itself is super cute, too! Really homey inside, parking was a breeze, and I was able to process my hair while enjoying the view of the lake. PLUS, they took before and after photos! Extreme communication failure. You won't see a pic of my haircut on her IG because she screwed up royally. She left me with a haircut 3 inches shorter than what I visually requested. And I picked out a haircut from her IG page! see pix below. I thought we agreed the haircut I was getting was the IG pic I showed her (included below). She even said she was going to give me "soft layers" which was how she described the pic I selected. So I'm still trying to figure out how I ended up with a semi-mullet instead. i was a first time client if she was at all uncertain or confused about what I wanted I don't know why she didn't take a few minutes to talk it over with me. I thought the pix I showed her made it pretty clear, I wanted long layers. I had really long hair and long bangs plenty to work with. Now my shortest layer is almost at the level of my cheek bone and most of the other layers end at my neck level creating a kind of mullet. I showed her how much length I wanted to take off. And she took off so much more because of the short layers she went with. can't do much with my hair now, even a ponytail looks silly. Major failure. I don't understand how communication can get this screwed up when I chose a photo of a haircut she did! read more

I set up an appointment and told Holly I wanted a 1950s mullet, ala early Brigitte Bardot, complete with the little "temple whisps." Holly knew exactly what I meant. She knows what looks good on people and is incredibly sweet. Both of these women are incredible at what they do! I started getting my hair cut with Holly when she was at a different salon and she always gives me such great cuts with her razor, it's really an art what she does. I'm so happy that she was able to start her own salon and I followed her there for another amazing cut and also got a color with her partner Nicole who's also an artist.
