I was uncertain on how to book through her website but, no worries, she was very quick to text. I haven't settled on one massage therapist until I found Calyn. Her "office" is a very comfortable room in a chiropractor's office. Everything was clean, and welcoming from the start. I was asked the usual questions about any problem areas, how much pressure, etc. When Calyn started my massage, I quickly realized that I need to get one more than once every three to four years. Yes, the tight areas in my upper back needed a bit more pressure but Calyn was able to work those knots out. Now my body relaxes to the point that I wanted a nap right there. Thank you, Calyn for the donated to a great cause! And you have a new client!

I started physical therapy and quickly used up all my allowable PT visits but was nowhere near ready to stop doing physical therapy. I figured if I was going to pay out of pocket for PT, then I mine as well pursue therapeutic massage therapy and do the exercises at home on my own time. Enter Suzanne. I have been seeing Suzanne about once a week for over a month for targeted therapy on my legs. In some cases it extends to my low back, glutes, pelvic, hips, etc but it all just depends on what's happening with my body in any given week. This woman works magic. I leave her studio pain free and feeling muscles I didn't even know existed. The work she's doing on me hurts and is not relaxing but my goodness has it completely changed my recovery. I'm sure she offers relaxing, gentle massage work too, but if you really want to invest in body work then just let her do her thing because you won't regret it. Here's the catch... she's a very popular lady and is often booked out 4-5 months. I have no idea how I managed to get on her schedule but I have to believe the universe aligned and made room for me when I needed her most. Once you're a client, you can add yourself to her cancellation list (managed via text) and if you have a flexible schedule then you'll typically find at least one slot a week opens up.

But I had never had a massage before, so I had no idea where to start and felt a little uncomfortable with the whole idea. But then I realized Sara, who I was friends with as a kid but hadn't seen in quite a while, had a massage therapy practice. Of course, I also like to support friends, so it was a double-bonus to be able to go to someone I knew I would be comfortable with and to reconnect with an old friend while supporting her business. The only regret I have about that choice, is that I hadn't made it earlier! I could tell right from the start of my first visit that Sara was very in tune with what I needed for recovery for my athletic endeavors, but also just managing the toll my body takes from the stress of day-to-day life. Since then, my visits to Sara have become an integral part of my efforts to stay healthy and take care of my body. I've also been able to refer numerous friends to Sara. Whether you're an avid athlete that needs some bodywork, recovering from some sort of traumatic physical injury, dealing with chronic pain, or just looking to enhance your wellness and quality of life, you can't go wrong with giving Sara a visit!!!

The first thing I noticed when I opened the front door was that it smells like a spa - very inviting. I had an appointment with Adrian. The first thing I noticed is how kind and friendly he was. He took me to his studio and spent some time talking with me and learning about any issues I was having with my body. He had also read the information in my online questionnaire. He made notes of our conversation and explained the process to me. He stepped outside while I got undressed and got on the massage table. While I was getting ready for my massage, I looked around. His studio was immaculate and very welcoming. He went to work on the areas of my body that we discussed. His skills are awesome and he makes you feel very relaxed while he is working. Afterwards, I felt amazing. He is kind, personable, a good listener, and an excellent massage therapist.

I've had a few prenatal massages elsewhere before and I can honestly say this was one of the most relaxing experiences. I felt calm, relaxed and comfortable (which is hard at this point in pregnancy) during the entire massage and my body was very relaxed after as well. Marisa did a great job checking in with me at points throughout the massage to make sure I was comfortable as it can be difficult to lay in different positions when pregnant. The owner, Molly, is very responsive and incredibly good at managing the paperwork involved in treating a veteran authorized to receive treatment by the VA (which, as we all know about government agencies, can be cumbersome). All I can say about Kristina is Wow. She truly is the massage whisperer. Per my husband, she really understands the physiology behind the treatment she provides, and he has a lot more pain-free time than he did before starting treatment with Kristina. I can see the relief in his face and in the way he moves after a session. We are grateful that my husband's treatment is covered by the VA, but should they decide not to renew an authorization and if my husband felt he would continue to get relief from the therapy, we would gladly pay the reasonable rates at Body in Knead to continue treatment with Kristina. Just to be clear, Body in Knead is open to everyone, not just veterans; but if you are a veteran receiving physical therapy at the VA hospital and think massage therapy could help your recovery, ask your physical therapist to submit a referral to the VA's Community Care Network. Whether you need a massage for medical reasons, stress, or just plain relaxation, your first call should be to Body in Knead.in Reno or Sparks.
