By the time you get up there to pay and get your drink cup, the food is already coming up. I ordered the pull pork plate with 2 sides and a drink for $11! Can't beat that price. The fries came out hot, the pork was juicy, and the greens flavorful. Doesn't come with sauce on it but there's plenty of options on the dressing table to pick from. The only downside is the parking situation... it's insanity, with folks here in work trucks, cars, motorcycles, you name it. The line just to get in the door can be long, but the staff does a great job of getting people in & out within the time of their lunch break. Pack your patience & give them a try!

Pulling up here to a full parking lot before noon on a Monday was an early sign that I was in for a…read morereal treat. I know people throw out places like Texas, the Carolinas and Tennessee as barbecue meccas, but I stand by my claim that some of the best barbecue comes from the great state of Alabama and Fatman's is great proof of my claim. I walked in and there was a line, but it moved fast and the helpless taking our our orders were friendly. The inside is pretty much low on ambiance, but the food is the real star here. Since it was packed inside, I got my food to-go and ate at a nearby park. I had the pulled pork plate with camp stew and potato salad. Everything was absolutely wonderful. I would definitely recommend here and I give it five stars.

Brenda's is still the place to go for ribs, but they were a bit off this time. The quality of the…read moremeat was not as good and tender this time around. Is it becoming harder to source the quality tender ribs or are the quality ribs becoming more scarce or inaccessibly expensive? Whatever the case may be, things took a back step this time and the ribs did not have the smoked taste as I have experienced before. Did the ribs need to be on a little longer? I ordered three slabs and large sides of potato salad, baked beans, and coleslaw. Surprisingly, the baked beans were the weakest of the three. The potato salad was markedly better and the coleslaw was the best for my tastes. I still maintain Brenda's is the place to get great smoked ribs, but this weekend was not their best effort. Brenda's is the best place to get your bones in Montgomery and I take them back with me to NYC because they're that good. 4.0 stars!

I stopped by the Smokehouse Pit BBQ today and decided to get the fried chicken liver basket with…read morefried green tomatoes. I was not disappointed at all. I know a lot of folks do not care for chicken livers but if you do, you must try these. They were cooked perfectly, and the fried green tomatoes never disappoint. If you are in a hurry, be patient. Two things to know, #1, there might not be more than a couple servers working and more than likely they are busting their buns waiting on tables, #2, most of the food that you order will be cooked as it's ordered. Do not expect to get your order 5 minutes after it's placed. But, it's worth the wait to me. Not everyone agrees, but this is my review. The staff has ALWAYS been super nice and attentive as much as possible. I don't get upset if the server is not standing by waiting to fill my drink or get me an extra napkin. I have seen people get upset with the server and in most cases, it's not their fault. Be patient if you order fried chicken, it will not be ready in 5 minutes. I'm just sayin,,,,,,
