They will even grab you a fresh baked one out the back upon request. I stumbled on this hidden gem one day after a my last craving for a waffle cone was unfulfilled at a franchise frozen yogurt spot. I won't name any names, but I hadn't been to the unnamed commercial spot in over 20 years. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. The waffle cone was stale and had a tinge of plastic taste. I literally thought I'd been poisoned. After looking up ice cream spots with good reviews, my daughter and I found Emmy's. It was not a disappointment at all. The ice cream flavors were limited but very premium. Although they don't make their own ice cream in-house, they get it from the best place I can think of ordering ice cream from - Wisconsin. They have a ton of really premium toppings for a great price too. Most are just $.50, with some of the nut toppings costing a dollar. My daughter tried their orange sorbet with gummy bears and the swear, they were the best gummy bears I've ever tried. I went straight for my go-to, pistachio almond. When I tell you it's stood up to some of the best Italian creamery pistachio I've had in my home town of New Orleans, I'm not exaggerating. Creamy, rich ice cream with an abundance of pistachio. All I needed was one scoop. So amazing and flavorful. Being skeptical after my last botched experience getting a waffle cone at a major franchise dessert spot, I decided to get my ice cream in their signature waffle cone. Oh. My. Goodness. It's like a confection by itself. Delicately buttery, perfectly sweet and super crispy. I hear they even make waffle cone nachos?! Aside from having great dessert, the staff is friendly and they have a nice little sitting area, complete with a soda-shop type bar to sit. It's not a question of if I'll be back, but if I'll be able to pass it up when I'm in the vicinity. Delicious!

My friend and I tasted a little bit of everything but we really enjoyed the cinnamon roll churros, the grilled cheese brisket sandwich and the chilaquiles breakfast plate. I do wish that there was a little more meat on the chilaquiles plate but the tortilla chips were perfectly fried and crispy even underneath all that salsa verde. As far as portion sizes go, the plates were huge and the churros were warm and crispy with the perfect amount of cinnamon and sugar. With that in mind, I would return solely for the classic combination of just the churros and white chocolate (although there are dozens of other add-ons to be had--like pistachio crème or cream cheese). If you are a sweet tooth, you are certainly in for a treat at the Churro Boutique. Side Note: this review is in reference to the Youngsville location and not the one located in the Lafayette mall

All Star Bakeshop opened not too long ago, aka right before the pandemic nightmare began. I know a little about her story and know she's local, has a passion for food and loves putting a smile on your face. I'm all about supporting local whenever I can and had been meaning to stop in here for a while. Then with the virus madness happened, I worried about this little bake shop. Will she stay open? Can she stay open. Oh hey, there's something I can do to help...go in and buy some goodies. So that's what I did. I had an idea of what I'd be picking up (hello lemon and lemon berry cake by the slice) but when I got in I started asking about the (HUGE) cupcakes. The first one I picked up was chocolate chip cookie dough. I don't know how, but the icing is rich and decadent and tastes like the guilty pleasure that is raw cookie dough but a frosting consistency. On top of a devil's food cake, this dessert truly is the best kind of evil. You guys. Go get one. Like, right now. I also tried a churro cupcake and it was cinnamon and caramel deliciousness. Do yourself a favor and go show All Star some love. I know I'll be a regular...I have my eye on her crawfish pies. You will be happy you did.

Well, at least the best on the planet that I've tried. They are divine. Soft shortbread crust with a cool, sweet and absolutely perfect lemon topping dusted with powdered sugar. They are so good that I've made it a habit to stop in here at least once a week for one. They carry lots of other yummy looking desserts but I can't pull myself away from the lemon bars. Try one! I know you'll love them like I do. There is one little warning though. You might want to check your shirt before you walk back into a public place after indulging in one. I made that mistake once and after several strange looks realized that because of all the powdered sugar on my shirt I looked like I had just walked out of an Al Pacino movie.
