Went in to have a prong fixed on my wedding ring, they gave me a estimate of $225.00. I thought that was kinda high. We have done business & bought numerous pieces of jewelry in the past from this store. I told them I would think about it , so I waited about 3 weeks, my husband said "just go have it fixed." So i took it back into the same store, talked with the same woman, they took my ring & before I got back home I got a call saying since gold had gone up so much it would now be $450.00. FOR A PRONG? I went back & got my ring. I was furious. I stopped by JDavid jewelry in BA they would fix it for $193.00. Guess who has my business now. This would never had happened if Robert were still alive & manager of Moodys. I will NOT EVER REFER ANYONE TO THEM AGAIN & WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER PIECE OF JEWELRY FROM MOODYS. read more

This Woodland Hills location use to be great with customer service & follow up. It has been almost 3 months since I placed an order & still have not received. Went in person during Nov and placed order. Never heard anything then followed up in Dec when I was told thier vendor hasn't return calls --- aka they forgot to place the order. Now Feb and half a dozen calls to the store telling me they will follow up and call me right back which they never call back. I would give zero stars if an option. Brought my wife's wedding and engagement rings in here to fix some loose stones and to get re-plated (rhodium). I was turned off at first because I had called around to several places asking for quotes. Every other jewelry had no issue giving me a quote over the phone, but another Moody's I called wouldn't give me even a ballpark estimate unless I brought it in. This Moody's location at least gave me a ballpark, but said I needed to bring it before they could tell me what they would charge. I decided to bring it in as it sounded like there was a chance their cost might be lower than some other places I spoke with. I'm glad I did. Not only did the fix several loose stones and re-plate both rings for half of my lowest estimate elsewhere, but they did a fantastic job. My wife was unhappy with the last loose stone repair from another jeweler - they had apparently pushed the stones in a way that made them look uneven. Moody's not only fixed the newly loose stones, but apparently straightened the ones my wife was unhappy with. She also said they cleaned and re-plated it so that it looked as good or better than new. They also did all the work in about 3 days since they do all their work in-house. read more

Let me preface this review by saying that my fiancé and I really sympathize with all the businesses affected by Covid-19 right now, especially smaller, local businesses like Moody's. It's obviously not their fault in the least that their factory and their doors closed during the shutdown these last couple of months. However, we are VERY disappointed in their customer service and their lack of communication with us regarding our order. We got engaged early March - went to their 68th and Memorial location March 10th to get my ring sized, but the sizing necessary was so drastic that they said they needed to completely reorder and remake my ring, at an extra expense, and they told us this would take 4-6 weeks. 6 weeks go by, no word. We figured they had probably closed down with everyone else, but we were hoping for some communication at the very least. We tried calling but their phones had been disconnected. We looked on their website and saw their statement that they had closed and were "holding all our valuables safely". This was actually frustrating, not comforting, because we obviously had quite a bit of money invested in this transaction and we expected they would at least call and inform us of the delay on our order personally. Finally they reopened May 1st. We still didn't receive any communication. We called ourselves the following week only to be told that their factory in Texas had shut down the week before they did and our order was going to be another 4-6 weeks. Again, not like these circumstances are their fault, but as someone who also works in customer service I expect good communication. Especially from a business handling expensive valuables. So this was very disappointing news. Today, two weeks after our last communication them, we called again to check on our order status. Only to be told that their factory had just reopened TODAY. So still no progress on our order. If I weren't so attached to the fact that my fiancé picked out this ring for me very specifically two years ago, I would have cancelled this order by now and requested a full refund. I have my wedding dress appointment this weekend and it's very sad that I have no ring to show. At this point I've spent nearly half of our engagement without my ring. If they had just been honest from the beginning and stayed in contact with us about the huge delay (let us know that the factory shut down before them in the first place, let us know that it still wasn't open at all when we called two weeks ago, etc), we definitely could've been more understanding. But the fact that they have not initiated communication with us once during this whole process has been extremely frustrating. We do not feel that our business with them is valued whatsoever. After we finally get my ring back, we certainly have no intention of doing any kind of business with Moody's ever again. read more

My wife bought me a Breitling watch (cockpit B50) for Christmas from Moodys jewelry on Harvard. After opening it up, trying it on, and it not fitting we took it back only to find put that the watch was NOT new, but "Almost new"and the watch band had been modified (cut). (How we found out it was A "almost new" watch is a story within itself) Then we were told that the watch was not returnable after the sales person called the "President of the Moodys". My wife was furious to say the least. How do you sell a watch, proclaim that it is new, then admit it is NOT new, but it is "almost new"!? Then refuse to let us return it!? At first they said they could order a new band and give it to us at cost for around $300.00, then they decided they would sell it to us for only $260.00, Then after calmly raising more of our concerns they decide to order and give us the band at no charge, but still refuse to let us return the"Almost new" watch. To have had my wife spend this amount of money on a "almost new watch" when buying and believing it was new from Moodys jewelry is quite surprising to me! It's really unbelievable !!? We have bought a lot of things from Moodys in the past and we are just shocked at their lack of customer service in this situation!? We will take our business elsewhere. read more

I got my engagement ring from Moody's back in 2006. Ever since then i've kept up with my "ring inspections" to guarantee my warranty. Thankfully 80% of the time the workers will see the inspection paper and not try to tempt me into a new purchase. I don't mind them showing me items while I wait, but some days I just want to get in and out. I know, I know, they won't make sales unless they try with everyone - at least they're consistent with their persistence lol. The last time I was in I mentioned how my husband and I had been looking for a band to go with my ring. My engagment ring was sold as an engagment ring, but at the time Moody's didn't offer any kind of coordinating wedding band. I've been looking off and on for several years, and this time they may have found a winner! The sales people we dealt with this time (I wish I could remember their names, it was a man with short, dark hair and a woman with short blond-ish hair) really looked and seemed very knowledgeable about the new bands and sets. They offered up some solutions for my band problem and gave me some ideas. They gave my husband a business card with their names on it, so I think we will definitely be giving them a call when we're ready to purchase. Great customer service! read more

While I was in the market for a new ring the customer service was good. Unfortunately after the purchase their workmanship did not hold up and they will find any excuse possible not to honor their warranty. I felt very disrespected by the way I was treated. Sadly it seems a few extra dollars is more important than the value of a customer in today's age. read more

My wife and I have been married for three wonderful years. I decided to use a diamond stone from a family heirloom that has been passed down for generations. I went to Moody's Jewelry to find the perfect wedding band to place it in. One month later I was placing it on her hand. We both agreed we have never seen a more beautiful ring. The problem with the ring, more appropriately the setting, began a little over a year later. We noticed that it sounded as if the stone was rattling. We decided it was best to stop wearing the ring until we could take into a professional at Moody's to correct the problem which they did. After two months of wearing the ring we once again noticed the rattling sound so once again stopped wearing the ring and took it to Moody's for repair. This process of wearing the ring one or two months, hearing the rattling, and taking it into Moody's for repair happened a total of SIX TIMES! After the sixth repair a Moody's employee told my wife even though she could hear the rattling it was safe to continue wearing the ring. One month after this disaster struck! The diamond was gone. We approached Moody's to voice our vexation with their employees who mended instead of fixed the ring on six occasions and the employee who told us there is no conceivable way the stone could fall out. Instead of being met with concern and possible ways to amend the situation we were met with resistance in honoring their warranty. The managers would tell us what we wanted to hear rather than truly try to resolve the situation. Eventually the employees ignored me all together. I have contacted Moody's or left messages on 31 occasions only hearing back a total of 7. My wife also wrote one very heartfelt letter to the owner which we never received any sort of response from. Moody's has ignored my calls, disregarded their responsibility, and neglecting to truly try to help me. read more
