The service was really good! Coffee was above average and the smoothie was refreshing on a hot day.

Purchased the Aww-So-Good and it was worth every penny. Very smooth and didn't have that tart aftertaste that some coffees have.

The staff there were very nice and worked hard to get our order to us quickly! There was maybe one table inside, but it was tight. There are several tables on the outside patio, so it's a great spot to sit on a nice day. There are a couple more full service breakfast spots in the area, but Brewed Awakening is a great option when you just want to grab a coffee or a quick bite!

I was driving from Hartford County to Mystic and Yelp-searched for a highly rated coffee shop near…read moremy route. Brewed Awakening stood out as having a good rating and being close to my route. Brewed Awakening does not present as a craft coffee shop focused on bean origins and things like that. It's a small, old school coffee shop, with limited inside place to sit and stand. The space is not fancy. It's more functional. But I'll tell you something . . . almost every usable inch of that space was occupied by people who seemed like long time regulars. Maybe like 5 to 6 people, but people who were happy to be there. The coffee was reasonably priced. The food, included hot dogs, donuts, breakfast sandwiches, classic sandwiches. Also reasonably priced by modern standards. There seems to be a New York connection to the shop because they use Nathan's Hot Dogs and the donuts on the counter came from New York. The woman who I assume was an owner was the only person working. She was very nice and helpful. I suspect she's a reason why they have a loyal customer base. I thought about ordering a hot dog at 8 a.m., but I had food plans in Mystic. I just ordered a Black Iced Coffee. The ice cubes were that thin round tube style with holes on the top and bottom, that you used to see a lot in restaurant fountain soda. The iced coffee itself was about average. If I just wanted a high end black iced coffee, I probably wouldn't return. I would definitely return to check out their reasonably priced food in warmer months when you can sit outside. In any event, if you're looking for a place with a lot of character, Brewed Awakening would be a good choice. It's close to the Route 9 Exit that you take on your way to the Clinton Outlets. 3.5 Stars

The entire setup feels careless and amateurish, from the chaotic workflow to the lack of basic crowd and traffic control. The parking situation is not just inconvenient--it's unsafe. With no barriers, no clear flow, and vehicles cutting through pedestrian areas, it's shocking that no serious incident has occurred yet. Operational standards are poor. Sanitation practices are questionable, including uncovered ice being transported from outdoor areas after being placed on the ground. That alone should concern anyone paying premium prices. The drinks themselves are little more than sugar delivery systems with a token splash of espresso. Flavor is buried under syrups and sweeteners, masking what appears to be low-quality coffee. Nothing here feels original; it's a collection of copied concepts executed badly. Service is slow, the product is inconsistent, and the pricing is unjustifiable. This isn't a serious coffee shop--it's a novelty stand selling sugar and spectacle at inflated prices. Better coffee, faster service, and safer conditions can be found almost anywhere else, for far less money.

The coffee was disgusting and not even hot--I had to send it back, and they still brought me a completely different drink than what I originally ordered. There were barely any customers, yet I waited over 15 minutes just for coffee and even longer for the food. The staff seemed uncoordinated and overwhelmed despite how slow it was. For $45, this experience was absolutely not worth it. Save your money and go elsewhere.

The inside is actually two businesses, on the left is the cafe and on the right is a boutique. The inside is so lovely and inviting, the space is well lit and bright with flowers hanging off the windows and off the chandeliers. Each table had a fresh little bunch of flowers. There was a talented young man on a guitar, entertaining the guests. Their menu features an assortment of coffee drinks and tea. For food they have, brunch, breakfast and dessert options. On this occasion we just got coffees. I got the Reese's Mocha. Others got hot chocolate. This mocha was pricey at over $8.00. When I made my order I told the barista I wanted it for "here". It took around 20 minutes for the coffee to be ready. I was let down that it arrived in a generic to go cup. This place is so elegant and it ruins the vibe a bit that they don't offer ceramic cups. The Reese's Mocha tasted just like biting into a Reese's Cup. It smelled like peanut butter and chocolate and tasted just like it too. This is a cup of cozy! I would love to get avocado toast next time.
