Walked in on a Friday right after opening. We were given menus and once we were ready our order was taken. We ordered birria fries, chicken tenders, a burrito bowl, and a burger for our food. For drinks we ordered a flight of 4 beers, a cola that comes from Mexico and a mango drink. Everything came out in a timely manner. The food was flavorful and the drinks were delicious. They have the best hazy IPA south of the border and one that would compete favorably with those in the US. We have been to Monzon at least three times in our past two trips to PVR. Great little brewery with plenty of seating. The beer is good, with a wide variety from IPAs (Lupita was my favorite) to stouts. Location couldn't be better, right in the middle of everything. Amazing craft beer. I tried the viva la vida and tropical craft pale ales. Ice cold glasses and both brews were clean and refreshing! I loved the flavoring on both ales and definitely would drink again. I also got the Chico sized guacamole and it was very good (and a large portion!). If you're looking for really great craft beer on draft this is the place! It's a fun venue, with the bar half inside and half outside, and thankfully not surrounded by TVs! There are plenty of tables for seating indoors as well. We've been here a couple of times, the brews we've tried are very well done, and the prices are decent, not a bargain, but fair. We tried sours (the best), farmhouse ales (really great), and some lagers (also tasty), all have been very balanced and served chilled. Stopped in with my family last night and we were very impressed! First of all, they are family friendly and, welcoming my toddler and presenting him with a coloring sheet and markers- which is a big deal when you're 3 and don't usually get markers. It was also a big deal to my husband and I as it bought us 30 minutes of peaceful beer drinking. The other nice thing is they have a changing table, which is a game changer if you need one (we didn't). Service was friendly and fast and our beers were so good. We stopped by Los Muertos afterwards because we wanted to try a beer there but had been so spoiled that they tasted pretty insipid after Monzon's full of flavor brews. We shared an order of chicken tenders and fries and I was pleasantly surprised- I hadn't expected to find some of the best tenders I'd ever eaten. The breading was crunchy and the perfect thickness, and the meat was hot and delicious. They offer a variety of dipping sauces, all of which were good, and fresh tasting. We hit up this place twice in our visit and both times they were extremely accommodating. The beer is truly delicious--I had the stout and my partner had both the Hazy IPA and the Sour. The sour was one of the best sours both he and I have ever tasted. The food was very good as well (from what I can remember, it was in the middle of a bar hop we were doing) and the staff is unbelievably friendly. Go for beet. This is review really for the owner. Have stopped there every year for the last 5 or so. Met the owners in the early days. Beer has gotten significantly better over time. My West Coast IPA was great My companions had cocktails - mango mojito(s)- 1st was tasty but sweet with crunchy sugar at the bottom (female bar tender). The other mango mojito made a bit later (male bar tender) was pretty gross - tasted mostly like sugar cane water; no rum taste w/ two shots; we added a third shot, still no rum taste. Our hotel recommended this spot and mentioned the brewer/owner and his wife had moved here from Seattle WA. We actually got to meet him when he explained he couldn't image life without great beer so he decided to start brewing his own when he moved here. After drinking Mexican beers for several days at our all inclusive resort, I needed a break. Using Yelp, I sought out a brewery in the Romantic Zone of Puerto Vallarta and found Monzon Brewing, and what a find it was. We took a taxi from the Hotel Zone and arrived at Monzon in about 15 minutes. The outside signage was a welcome sight, and as we entered the place, I saw the brewing; it was exciting. We found a seat quickly, and the staff was awesome. They had several beer options, so I started with a flight of five beers. They were all great; especially the Hazy Bay IPA. As a result, I ordered another Hazy Bay. My wife even enjoyed the beer! As far as the food, we had the Elote, which is served off the cob in a corn husk. This was new to me. The corn was mixed with cheese, jalapeños, and diced ham; so delicious. On a second visit (yes we went back again), we had the Brisket Tacos. OMG, the tacos were top of the line. I look forward to trying to make both the elote and brisket tacos at home. Regarding the prices, they were very affordable. Although I wanted to spend much more time at Monzon, it was time to go. We took the bus back to the hotel, which was about $1.00 each; great deal. If you find yourself in Puerto Vallarta at a place that only has the typical Mexican beers and you enjoy IPAs, get down to Monzon! read more

This was our second time in PV. First time in 2019 we found Muertos and thought it was cool that there was a craft brewery to find because you need a break from the pool bar standards of Modelo and Pacifico and Victoria. We're from Denver, so we're beer nerds and always try to suss out the owners to chew the fat about pH and malt and yeast and fingers-crossed weasel in an informal tour of the brew room if they let us. We're also citra hop forward fans and visit White Labs occasionally to stay up on the the latest and greatest in yeast scoop. Thus, our expectations are always highly critical but we would never, ever drain pour...we just love the experience of seeking that holy grail that best reps the beer style. For me, my standard is 2014 3Fs Zombie Dust and 2015 TG King Sue. We're also Untappd insiders, supporters, and I'm a mod, so a brewery stop on vacay is more than just doing it for the check in...it's an adventure into the art and science of making water and malt and yeast and hops into magic. Monzon doesn't even compare to Muertos. Muertos is the step up from the Senor Frogs...but Monzon is for the seeker, the appreciator, the lover of fabulous beer. We got there around lunch, went up the stairs past the barrels and malt bags to the open air seating waving rainbow-flags over the Romantic alley walk (we just so appreciate the openness of LGBTQ+ love because in the States it's not the same vibe unless of course you're in those places known for accepting). The beertenders and servers were fabulous. Lupita IPA and Calmate kolsch were my favs; hubs was the Saison. There were three folks seated with laptops and spreadsheets to our right, so we figured they were managers/owners. After two rounds, I made a joke to the server about wearing my Apple Watch to help me close my exercise rings because I felt badly about him going up and down those stairs in the heat. We all got a little laugh and we finally got a chance to interrupt and ask about their story. The owner hailed from the craft-loving Pacific NW USA, went on vacay, and fell in love with PV. They decided to open Monzon brewery in 2020, and the rest is history with them living every beer nerd's dream. Just go...you won't be disappointed. It's awesome they take credit cards too so we stocked up stickers and coosies since we were getting low on pesos. Awesome place and we'll definitely be back! Thanks also for letting us know about the liquid yeast. Excellent brewery, fantastic beer even a beer dork would raise up, and the customer service was fab. So I came here late and sat at the bar. I do not know what they have, if any, beside the beer - so that is what I'll review. I wanted to try a Mexican craft brewery and came in very skeptical. Clearly I was surprised. I am not a big fan of IPAs so I tried a flight of all the non-IPAs with a pint of saison on the side. The beer is good. The beer is really good. I asked questions on broken Spanish about the beer and the process and it was met with friendliness. Again, really good beer. All of them. I will come back here. We came in to try a couple beers and wound up getting a lot more. We started with the Mexican lager and dry-hopped Pilsner, which were both fantastic. Then, we ordered a beer flight to sample some more. Everything was fantastic, with the dry-hopped Pilsner and the Scientific Method being standouts. We also ordered some birria fries which were great. The birria was incredibly flavorful and the fries were soaked with the consommé. They brought a tray with limes and salsas, so we tried a bit of everything. Only improvement would be if the fries were a little crispier to counter the heaviness of the meat and sauce. Ingredients were incredibly fresh as well. The restaurant has great vibes. Nice soundtrack (today was 80s/90s). No AC, but fans make it really pleasant. And that's during off-season. We went here in 2019 and were not impressed and I wrote an unflattering review. Today I'm looking at photos of the interior and it certainly has changed for the better; looks like a place I would enjoy. If they've put effort into the ambiance, perhaps the beer and food has improved too. I enjoyed (today) reading the owners' story so I will definitely be giving this brewery a second chance the next time I'm in PV. Giving 4 stars for reeling me back in. read more
