They took this campground a few years ago in very rough rundown condition and have transformed it with lots of investment money and tons of labor into one of the nicest most "pleasant" places you'll ever stay. From the state of the art terraced and beautifully fenced dog park to the immaculately kept fishing pond with fountain, beautiful & totally renovated/updated pool, immaculate grounds, everything is perfectly manicured and maintained. Every single upgrade is obvious that no money was spared, only the best furniture and fixtures everywhere. Level sites, many redone with new concrete. Nicely paved and smooth roadways with sweeping roomy turns, no problems with big rigs, no low hanging branches on roads or sites, we are 65' long. Updated electric, plumbing and 90 channels of crystal clear cable TV! Did I mention the perfect wifi signals? We were the furthest site from the office and were able to stream effortlessly. Immaculately clean bathhouse, laundry, no ruts in roadway, no low hanging branches, the upkeep and attention to detail at this place is just exceptional! The staff is so "pleasant" and Jason is constantly working around the campground to keep it looking perfect. Whether you are just looking for a super clean overnight or want to stay 5-6 days like us, this KOA will not disappoint. Need propane or firewood? Jason will come to your site, pick up the tank, fill and return it to your site, hassle free. I had a bum knee on this RV trip and Jason handling that for me was a treat. The beauty of this place is that they didn't provide that service because of my knee or because they liked me better than others, they do this for everyone! This campground is small but gorgeous with the nicest people owning & running it you'll ever meet! Ignore any reviews about highway noise, ALL KOA's are close to the highway, thats why they are so convenient and the road noise was minimal, some people will just complain about anything. We are 5 hours away in Oklahoma City but I promise we will be back, this place and it's owners really made quite the impression on us! We also ordered from the canteen and it was the slowest service I have ever experienced. The employees seemed completely lost and not sure how to run it. Mixed Experience at Jellystone Park in Tyler, TX - Won't Be Returning…read more We visited Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Tyler over the 4th of July weekend, renting multiple cabins to celebrate with family. The water park was definitely the highlight -- our 2- and 4-year-old had an absolute blast. The main pool was also a hit with the kids. The fireworks show on the 4th was fantastic, and the overall list of amenities is impressive on paper. However, the rest of the experience didn't live up to expectations. Cabin Conditions: * The A/C worked well in the living room, but bedrooms didn't cool properly when doors were closed. * Every cabin we rented was noticeably dirty -- floors hadn't been swept and one even had old hot dogs left in the microwave. * A power outlet in one unit was missing a cover. When we reported it, we were told it wasn't a concern since it was behind a couch, and that no replacement was available. * Shower water pressure was barely a dribble. Booking & Check-in Issues: * Reservation originally showed 2 adults and 1 child -- we corrected this twice (via email and phone), but still arrived to find the wrong number listed and missing wristbands. * After addressing it at the office, an employee from the back (who hadn't been part of our conversation) loudly accused us of lying across the lobby. Extremely unprofessional and embarrassing. Thankfully, the staff member at the front counter resolved the issue. Canteen Inconsistencies: * Friday's ice cream experience was a pleasant surprise: generous portions and great value. * Saturday was a different story -- disorganized line, over 30 minutes of waiting, and significantly smaller portions for the same order. Other Observations: * Some activities were fun, but it felt like we were being nickeled and dimed: expensive gem mining bags, having to pay for mini golf balls, and constant unexpected upcharges. In summary, while the water attractions were great for our young kids, poor customer service, cleanliness issues, and lack of consistency made this stay more stressful than relaxing. There are beautiful ponds, towering trees, plenty of birds, and gorgeous scenery everywhere you look. My first two days were rainy, so there were only a handful of guests. Personally, I loved it because I was looking for peace and quiet. If you're hoping for a livelier social scene, check the forecast before booking. From my experience, weekdays are generally slower, while weekends are where the energy picks up. The accommodations were comfortable, clean, and had excellent A/C--which you'll definitely appreciate in the summer. Service deserves a special shoutout. The owners and staff were incredibly responsive; anything I needed (within reason) was just a text away and handled quickly. When we got there and were hooking up a member of the staff drove by our site and called us by name and asked if we were doing ok. Great service! Very nice large pool. It's open 9:30a-9:30p. They have a volleyball net and basketball hoop so you can play in the pool. Park is pretty large. There is a pond out back where you can go fishing. They have cabins available and a few have good sized decks that overlook the pond. Nice tent area with covered picnic tables and electrical outlet. Would like to have seen grills at each site. Cabins and tent sites seem to have them, but RVers like to BBQ, too. Also some recycling bins would be good. We pulled in after dark and the entrance was not very well lit and there were a lot of cars due to an event in the Rec Center so it was hard to see where we were supposed to park to check in. This time, with Reesa and Ricky, we stayed in the Texas 2 Step. Dual connecting cabins. Loved it. There's also about 30 or 40 RV spots. There's a private boat ramp. Riverbend Outfitters keeps kayaks here for rent. We've gone kayaking twice. It's fun, relaxing, and beautiful. The owners are very friendly and attempt to solve any problem you might have. The cabins are big and comfortable. They have satellite tv and WiFi. A full kitchen makes mealtime easy. Be warned, cell service here is terrible. You are out in the middle of nowhere! We have absolutely loved our stays here, and will definitely return. Check their website!
