I had these folks come out to bid a job at my home. We agreed to use them and set up a future time and date. That appointment morning at 8 a.m. I called to confirm... no answer, so I left a message. Joe called back at 9 a.m. He didn't remember he was due to come and start work at 10 am. He didn't recall the job at all. I called him out for that (I had totally arranged my schedule to be home for the 2 work days!). He rudely said, "You know what? I don't think I want to work for you". Wow!! I hung up. I was in need of an electrician to install an electric car charger/outlet at my home. After doing research on Yelp, I contacted Monticello Electric, received a quick response and was able to schedule a visit to get a quote in short order. Joe came out to my home on a Wednesday morning, examined the job, gave me an estimate and we scheduled installation for the following Tuesday. Less than 24 hours before my scheduled install date, I received a voicemail from "the electricians" stating that my landlady had not approved the car charger installation and associated costs and therefore my appointment was being rescheduled until further notice. Oddly, I own my own home and do not have a landlady. I promptly returned the call and realized there was nothing but confusion about who I was, what my landlady (who does not exist) had/had not done to delay the scheduled work, etc. I was offered to reschedule my appointment, with zero reasons given as to why (nor any type of apology for the mix up), for an entire week later. Rather than engage with this company, who in my experience does not prioritize customer service and appears quite unorganized, I decided to go elsewhere to get the work done. Not much to be said that hasn't already been said. The tldr is, Fast, efficient, fair and a genuine nice guy. The initial job was to extend a circuit for a new hot tub, fix a broken wired smoke alarm, repair some lights that refused to turn on, install a outdoor outlet. Ended up hiring him to do significant additional work including pulling new 50amp circuits from the main panel. His price came in significantly lower than some of his competitors "upvalley" and he was able to get to the job faster, got it done quicker, and was more responsive in general. All work passed inspection without issue. I am glad to have an electrician I can trust and recommend Monticello Electric highly. read more

I had so much to do with new Home, rewired the entire garage , removed old 1967 wiring, can lights, pendant lights, adding outlets, kitchen chandelier, ceiling fans, the list is endless. 100% Amazing work. Ready for another 5 star review of Joe and Monticello electric? Our dryer quit mid-cycle sometime on Friday and we didn't notice until Saturday when we pulled out a load of damp laundry only to find the dryer would not turn back on. We tried the breakers thinking it was probably an electrical issue but that didn't fix it. Since it was a weekend all the appliance repair places we called were closed and none of the handyman services we contacted got back to us. After finally reaching someone on Tuesday I was shocked to find the service call would be $100 and if it was an electrical issue, not a dryer issue, we'd still be charged the fee and then have to call an electrician anyway! Turns out this was all a blessing in disguise! I decided to contact Joe after reading his Yelp reviews and messaged him today around 4pm telling him my situation. He responded within an hour! He had other calls but took my number in case they were able to fit me in before it got too late. They called at 7:55 pm, arrived moments later, and fixed the problem in under 15 minutes! Not only was the service fast but so personable and genuine! I cannot recommend them enough and we will use them when we upgrade our electrical panel in the future. I was in need of troubleshooting on a remodel job in an older building so I called Monticello Electric. Gabriella answered my call and said that they would stop by the job at 4 PM that day. I would give Joe negative 5 stars, if available. He started buying many parts for the small wiring job in my garage, which he finally did not use, but said that "you paid for all this" just after arriving. After checking the receipt that he left with me to return some of these items, "because you paid for all this", I figured out that he does this to get reward points on his Home Depot contractor account. This guy was supposed to check with me what was needed for the job before buying anything without my approval. After working for a couple hours he made a second trip to Home Depot to buy additional material, time for which he charged me at his regular rate. And believe it or not, he forgot to buy everything needed for the installation. After more than 4 hours, he did not finish the job and the quality of the installation is very poor, with conduit and an ugly box not sitting properly on the wall. He also showed lack of expertise mounting hardware on finished walls, when he tried to use undersized fasteners for a heavy duty application. I am hiring another contractor in the Napa area to redo the installation, which looks like part of a factory or an industrial lab. If you do not want to end up with parts to return on your own after this guy leaves your home and paying a professional contractor to do the job again, find someone else to work on your project. read more
