I hiked here the morning of Memorial Day. My advice for anyone hiking around this time of year in the mountains is to download a map in advance. Even for a super short trail, it's incredibly easy to steer off course when it's still snow packed. I nearly made a wrong turn at the very beginning! Once you get to the top, you get amazing panoramic views of the mountains. It's a wide open space at the top, and I think you're able to connect to the Pennsylvania Mountain trail if desired. I will say the trail was marked impeccably well with blue markers sitting high on the trees. It's very easy to get off track during this woodsy hike. When you arrive at the trailhead you'll find only a handful of parking spots. 1.2 mile loop 259 ft. elevation gain 35 minutes to complete (in summer, longer if snow packed) Contrary to the name, I didn't see many pikas. Assuming they'll be more present during the summer months. Nice little trail for all ages and difficulty levels. Great views!

WOW what a time. My…read morefriend and I signed up with this company to take us on a 2 day extreme class IV/V Overnight rafting trip on the Arkansas river. We both have experience with this company from rafting the Upper Salt River in AZ. Unfortunately the water levels didn't cooperate but, the rafting company modified the itinerary to give us the best possible adventure possible. Day upper upper Browns Canyon which led to class I've and the use of duckies. Operation am not a fan but, half of our group loved them. We were then driven 1.5 hours away for our dinner and tent camping (3 miles from our put in). Ryan and Eric our guides cooked a great meal and catered to the group. We awakened to a mist and heavy fog, which we were served pancakes and sausages for a warm breakfast, and let's not forget hot coffee. We then departed at 8:30 for our trip down the Royal Gorge were we hit class in rapids, lots of class 3s, great geology, good company, lots of fun and a great experience. Ryan our lead guide and Eric did a great job for 2 days of providing us a great experience and memories. You have many choices but from a personal experience this is the best company to deal with. We are already planning next year's multi day trip.

No integrity and no remorse for ruining our trip. Fast forward, we found an amazing company that agreed to work us in the same day and, after speaking to several people in the area, it is well known that Wilderness Aware Rafting has less experienced guides and get stuck in the river holding up "traffic" most days. Literally no one locally has anything nice to say. In hindsight, I am glad we didn't go with them.

From the customer service we received before ever showing up to the clear and concise instructions prior to launch, and the expert leadership on the water, all of it culminated into a confident and absolutely exhilarating trip for our entire family. His expertise and leadership which was blended with a quiet confidence and deeply personal approach immediately made us all feel like he was a close friend of the family. Shout out to Lawrence! You're the man! As for the time on the water, the scenery is something you will never forget. From the wildlife, the towering Gorge walls, the passing train along the ridge, and every approaching rapid it all leaves a visual impression that you will be hard pressed to forget. Some rapids were more challenging than others, but I would encourage you to always stay locked in as I let my guard down on a low level rapid and almost went overboard. Speaking of overboard, one of our favorite parts of the trip was the swimming part of the trip. Our whole outfit pulled over, and we were allowed to take a refreshing dip in the river. Climbing onto the bank and taking a plunge from a natural high dive, otherwise known as a giant rock hovering the river. What a great time! Don't sleep on the pictures offered at the end of the trip. They are worth every penny! And be sure to grab some Lost Paddle Rafting souvenirs before you leave. They have a great selection of stickers for your cooler, hats, t-shirts, and hoodies. John-o was our guide and he was great. He did a good job reteaching us the basics and knew the river quite well. Outside of that, he had some good geological knowledge and dad jokes as well.
