Avoid at all costs. If this gets one person to avoid this place I will be overjoyed. My initial review was way too long for Yelp so please know there is more than this.
Pros: It was new which is why I wanted to stay despite the issues.
Cons: Everything else. Bugs upon bugs upon bugs. The gym would have dead bugs in there for days. Cable machine constantly broken and that's just the tip of the iceberg. My apartment would have at least two or three a day especially before I started bug treating monthly and applying protection all over my apartment. My garage was just a lost cause at a point, which sucked as I had a whole reformer in there to workout on, and then there were rats too! Management would be extremely nice to my face but do nothing to help me with neighbor harassment and incessant noise. They would constantly yell at me when I left and throw parties at 12 am basically every Monday and were egregiously loud every single day. They were my fourth set of neighbors in that unit and I was not upset about regular noise but excessive to the point I literally could not do anything in silence and they would bang on the walls constantly. Management would be appalled at what I was telling them and say no one should have to live like that....and then did nothing. One employee even mentioned how one of the new neighbors was sexually harassing her partner at work (my neighbors are Door-dashers) but still did nothing for me. The cops were called so many times but still no action from Montessa. I asked for a transfer and even offered to pay the fee (they promised it would be waived, mind you) for it or reapply when my lease was up if that would move it along....I literally just never heard back after being promised calls time and time again. It became super clear to me that they'd like me to leave so they could start charging for my garage as it was given for free when I signed and another resident was asking for it for months up to that point. I even watched as one of them stared at the phone while I was calling multiple times and just didn't answer lol. When asked about why nothing got done they immediately jump to blaming the corporate office and telling me how much they don't get paid enough and how much they hate their reigonal manager as if that is relevant to my issue at hand. I can't stress enough I never went into that office until I had to. This was my first apartment and I never wanted to come off rude and pushy, but it didn't matter in the end because nothing ever got done. I had a hole in my SHOWER CELING for 2 months and had a different man from a different company in and out of there almost daily for 2 weeks because no one wanted to take culpability for who installed what wrong. The leak kept coming back and contractors would come and make a mess of the insulation and drywall and it still basically did nothing and they ended up saying it's because my AC was running too low (68 degrees....lol okay) The hole stayed in the ceiling up until the day I moved out and it was covered by tape, paper towel, and plastic that whole time that continued to fall off the ceiling. I would be gobsmacked if there WASN'T any mold as it was directly above the shower. I moved out and of course I owe them 230 after my deposit because why wouldn't I? The apartment was clean but you know you have to pay $200 for someone else to do that, ok fine. $320 for touch up paint and $200 for carpet cleaning in one room for "pet odor" and stains underneath the carpet? Not sure on that one, but if it's fair then so be it. After all of the aforementioned grief this was just the cherry on top. I am waiting to see the pictures they provide as to explain these charges, especially considering my partner is a professional painter and did that "touch up" himself before move out (no we never mounted a single thing or hung a picture) so I'm wondering what could possibly be needed that doesn't fall under a year's wear and tear of living somewhere. I just hope no one else has to deal with the absolute mess I did over the past 2 months. Value your sanity and go literally anywhere else, I regret it every day. The apartments look nice but that's about it. read more
