BEWARE. I hired them to store my household goods for 5 months in a so called heated warehouse. When my goods were restored to me, they had obviously been stored outside in a leaky container. Everything I owned was sodden and covered with black mold, ruined books, ruined original artwork, moldy carpets and clothing. EVERYTHING had to be washed and cleaned, some things professionally. Some of my furniture was gouged. Not only that but many of my treasured items were missing, presumed stolen....gifts from my deceased parents, kitchenware, art work, a shelving unit, gardening tools, the list goes on. I was still finding out after a year things I was missing. I would NEVER hire this company in one million years. Only got a third of my costs through small claims. BEWARE. We got a quote on the move and as we had used the same group from Campbell River we felt they should be good to do the move. WRONG! They showed up short one man and low on experience. As well they failed to tell us that they only had one large truck and it would not hold our complete household effects. This they didn't tell us until they were half way through packing. The two young men were doing as well as they could but in the quote there was supposed to be three and the one that was missing was the senior or more experienced of the group. Bad loss. Finally at about the 3/4 mark of the move they said we could go as we were already reserved on the ferry and their time quote was they would be done by 3pm and be on the first ferry the following morning with the loaded truck. With some apprehension we continued with the plan and caught the ferry and went to Chilliwack and awaited the truck in the morning. The next morning we were told that they would need a second truck to fetch the remainder of the household effects and garage boxes. Greatly disappointed we awaited the truck load that actually got here. That was unloaded with many "noticeable" things not on that load. After much discussion with the BEKINS OFFICE it was decided that the truck with the rest of our load would arrive later next week. Very disappointed in that news we waited and the truck arrived about a week later. The crew was not the one that loaded us in Qualicum Beach so they didn't have any idea what really should be there as the rest of our load. Bottom line is; there was "NO INVENTORY" made of the loads or even a "pre-load" listing. As we began looking for things from the garage and store room; they were the last to be loaded as described by the person in the office. That was 7 July 2022 and here it is March 2023 and we are STILL FINDING THINGS MISSING. We should NEVER have let them operate without an inventory of things & boxes to be moved. The representative from BEKINS finally said they were not able to find any of the things and offered us a $400. rebate. Considering that the quote was pretty high, I was surprised the lack of sympathy or understanding, as well as the poor compensation offered. I realized that would not come close to replacing what we were missing but I just didn't want to continue with them in a matter that was poorly handled by both myself and them; delt with the unexpected unprofessionalism; demonstrated by the BEKINS personnel. Due to their unorganized operation and lack of professionalism on the part of their people; from the lack of explanation of the situation right from the start; We would NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY FOR ANY HOUSHOLD MOVE beyond a short haul in town and then under a very watchful eye! read more

For the last month or so, as a service to the public, I attempted to leave a Google review that would accurately reflect my experience with Bekins Parksville, to no avail. For some unknown reason, positive reviews I left for other companies were publicized my Google, but not the (negative) review I left for Bekins Parksville. So here it is. The Bekins Parksville crew showed up at my house without a mattress bag for my bed & without packing material for my garage. At the time I had to send my father's caregiver out to Budget Rental to pick up a mattress bag. Also, the carpet runners laid down throughout my house were blackened & filthy. Initially I was happy, give the fact that I was able to have my furniture moved during the early weeks of our new Covid reality (at the time I even tipped the crew) however upon unpacking the boxes from the garage that had been placed (sealed) in a storage unit, the satisfaction gave way to disappointment when I discovered my possessions had essentially been thrown, haphazard, in boxes without any packing material. Furniture legs were thrown loose in a box (now chipped & marked) a pesticide container placed next to clothing, 3 in 1 oil bottle next to a jacket (which leaked & ruined the jacket) & water bottles, screw & nail blister-packs chucked in a box without being properly sealed (subsequently strewn everywhere) loose lightbulbs which resulted in shattered glass everywhere. Following this, when I phoned & spoke to the Bekins franchise owner, Peter Monteith, instead of being professional & acting concerned, he just mocked me. Also, Bekins representative - Bridget - had promised that I would be reimbursed for the mattress bags & this never happened. Ultimately, to anyone reading this commentary, it speaks volumes, when after a company has been paid, the customer service evaporates & is instead replaced with indifference & sarcasm. read more

If I could give them a negative 1 star I would. From the get go these guys were brutal. They were late and very tired and complaining about what they had to do. The driver was the only decent one of the crew and he was getting burnt out. We had three guys move a 2 bedroom apartment to a three bedroom house and it took them 9 hours!!!!! For a 10 minute drive in Nanaimo from our old place to our new place. We had no living room furniture and no appliances. I had all the boxes labeled with colour coded tape so that they knew where to put the boxes accordingly. Somehow my vanity was scuffed to hell and my dresser now wobbles. I had a box of dishes that got broken. They had to hoist my king sized mattress over my balcony because they couldn't get it up my stairs??? They left about 15 boxes outside because they had been moving stuff all day and were tired. (That's why we are paying you!!!??!)So out of that I was now paying $2500 I gave a decent tip because the driver gave me a sad story and I felt bad for him. I called the office the next business day and I was pretty upset so the. They knocked it down to $1900. Still not happy about this they then told me that they were going to talk to the driver so they did and apparently the driver was surprised by what I was claiming so I called today to do a follow up and the company wants to have me on the phone with the driver and them so they can have us talk!? Nonetheless I am still paying $1900 to have three guys move us. (It cost us only $1400 more to move from Calgary to Nanaimo in the middle of winter during a pandemic almost two years ago!!) We are not happy and will not be recommending them to anyone. read more

the address in Yelp is wrong by 10 years! and Bekins have moved me personally twice and I have referred hundreds of people to them (I am a realtor, and no they don't pay me anything) and I have yet to have a client who was unhappy with their service. The guys are careful and they literally run between the truck and the house (when their hands are empty) Brigette in sales & the office is amazing and the owner Peter is hands on virtually every day!!! read more

I'll never use this company again! The price was very high, for the international move they told me they work with United, but they used a very small third company to pick up my furniture and move it to Vancouver; over there they transfer all my stuff to another truck, this time from United. They disarmed all the furniture, compacted all the boxes and mixed everything even when it was clearly marked as a fragile (glasses, etc). The boxes arrived in awful condition; some pieces were broken. As the were using a big truck, once on destination needed another truck (this time from a company that rents them), with another movers. They charged a lot of money for that, apart from what they had charged in Canada without taking account that they didn't have to unload the stuff into the house but in the garage. To make things worse, the driver was very rude and in a bad mood. In short: I'll never use this company and won't recommend to anyone to hire them. read more

We hired them to move us from Port Alberni to Victoria. They were extremely rough with all our boxes and furniture. My husband witnessed them standing on top of fragile boxes to reach the top of another pile! Every single piece of my large furniture pieces was damaged! Scrapes, dents, and broken pieces in boxes. I lost many vases, had to throw out or large professional shredder because it no longer worked (witnessed dropping), had to replace a ripped bike seat, just to name a few.... I felt extremely violated that I paid good money to some one who destroyed my hard earned possessions. We tried to discuss it with them on several occasions, we were passed around not returned calls and avoided! When we finally got answers they refused to do anything reasonable and didn't care that we were not satisfied! We completely felt that they had the upper hand and we just had to move on and NOT RECOMMEND them to anyone!! Also Beware that they hire out contracting movers instead of having their own staff, which makes me wonder if you can trust who it is that they hire since they don't even know them. read more
