First time coming here since ownership changed and I can really say the food and service was great! I had the spicy fish tacos and cold beer and my friend had the carnitas tacos. We both enjoyed them very much! Came with ample serving of chips and salsa. Price for 2 meals with 2 beers was about $34 with an 18% tip totaled just about $40. So prices are up a bit but that's the case everywhere. I plan to go back and have more tacos in the future! read more

In my never ending search for the best breakfast burrito, my hunger led me here, Montecito Kitchen. It's been in business only 5 months but it was decorated so nice with about 6 tables. The girl at the counter greeted me and took my order. At first glance, the menu has everything from burgers to birria. They serve bottled beer so if you like a cold one with hot chile they're ready for you. I ordered the carne asada breakfast burrito, a very simple and basic item that will tell me how good Montecito is. If you get lengua, it literally will talk to you.. It took about 8-10 minutes and I was offered chile, red and green. I took the green, but the girl said the red is hotter. I figured I can't drink a cold beer and eat a hot burrito while driving, so I decided to go through a car wash. Is that still illegal? Ok, the first thing I noticed is the burrito was solid, thick and heavy. Sexy, huh? Get your mind out of the gutter. Now many places will load it down with beans, rice and potatoes to get it to look like this. So I took the first two big bites without chile to get the real taste of this burrito. The carne asada was all over this tortilla!! I figured I bit into the bottom first so it would only be other stuff when I get to the end. Was I happily wrong. . The carne asada filled up the burrito all the way through, and the other breakfast ingredients were mixed in very well. I ate the rest of it with 2 containers of green sauce which added a complimentary taste that was exquisite. The breakfast burrito at Montecito was well worth it. It was good, filled up with the good stuff, and combined with the sauce very well. I can't wait to go through the menu (you can get a pamphlet) and decide what to go after next. I would like to sit and have dinner there. The next foundation of a good Mexican restaurant is the beans and rice. The pricing is the same as everywhere else, but the burrito I got was worth every penny. If you're looking for a big one to choke down when you're hungry, the breakfast burrito here is well worth. I've been coming here for a few months. I pick up food and dine in w family . I've never had an issue with service or food quality. The food is great. But yesterday (4/1/25) around 12:00 noon I came in with my 4 yr old to sit down and have lunch. I ordered beef Fajitas $18 and a side of guacamole $5, no drinks. Server lady never brought me the bill. I took my son to the restroom and told her if she can get the bill ready for me, she did not. I went up to the counter to pay bc it took a while. She said my total was $23, ok makes sense. She then continued to mumble something about a $3 charge and the total was $26, I said to use my card?? She then proceeded to act busy and attend a table. She left me standing there to pay/sign, I was disappointed, I understand a .50 charge for cards but $3!!!!! Oh and she never gave me the bill either. She just punched it in the screen and I had to pay and sign. No receipt was offered. I did Tip $4 because of the cooks. Idk who she was, older and in charge of the register. I feel like she tipped herself. All I know is that I won't be coming back here. This was very very shady. I've never been charged $3 here. Owner should investigate this and respond. Is this legal???? Was really looking forward to checking this new place out. We loved the Galley and Capt's at this same location and were sad to see them go. However we noticed this new spot and it had great reviews so far, we were excited to check it out! The new look was nice, elevated and clean. We came in with the family and enjoyed the fresh made chips and salsa. They were both good, the salsa was lacking the heat I was wanting but the family in general enjoyed it! My youngest loved the Western Burger and it looks large and appetizing. Unfortunately for us the rest of the meals were lack luster. The Asada dinner plate was huge, the meat was not hot and didn't appear to be seasoned or marinated with anything. The rice was just ok. The nopales was overly salty and the grilled Jalapeño had zero flavor The Montecito wet burrito was bland as well. The green sauce on top was very much a lime base so it was a little sour and didn't complement the meal one bit. The rice and beans inside were run of the mill, and the meat (asada as well) was again tasteless. We split an order of Shrimp Fajitas, veggies were good, had 7 medium size shrimp, and didn't taste like much. The refried beans were decent, but a little watery. We also tried a quesabirria at the suggestion of the server, it was undercooked, lacked enough cheese, the birria was just ok. The plate came with a lemon (not lime, maybe this is normal for this restaurant) and 4 dried up ugly looking radishes. Service was good at the start and our server Mary was very kind and easy to talk to. As soon as we ordered the other waitress went home and Mary was stuck taking phone orders, serving all tables drinks, taking walk in orders, filling chips/salsa AND bussing tables. Needless to say service to all tables except for those just arriving suffered greatly, albeit not her fault. I really wanted to love this place, I think I'll give them one more shot down the road, but so far the entire table was not impressed. read more
