I remember coming here in the past for dinner at Atlantic Seafood & Dim Sum. I would love to return here more often to explore the many food options it offers (see below). Residences are on the upper floors. All shops, restaurants, and entertainment are primarily on the bottom floor. Third building is one floor. It does have a great selection of businesses. I've only been here a few times for Meet Fresh, Summer Rolls, and Shibulaya. I have yet to check out some of the other biz. I would love to return to dine at all the restaurants that start with letter B, Sunmerry Bakery, and all that starts with letter T. Funny, my Mom and I have been coming to Fortress Plaza for Union Travel for many years now. But I…read morenever noticed this plaza's name until recently when we were here to pay a visit to Da Vien Coffee and Bake & Che. It didn't used to be busy, but now it's super busy with the two new comers that are sharing their amazing coffee and fresh Vietnamese desserts with the SGV community. It's a small plaza. The parking lot is small, too. Try to come here during low peak hours. But then again, I don't think Da Vien and Bake & Che are going to have low peak hours unless it's when they first open or it's near closing time. Anyway, besides the popular coffee and dessert shops, a few other tenants are present, too. Based on the For Lease sign, it looks like there are vacancy. I don't know what they will do with the limited parking challenge. Street parking may be available around the corner. Please read the signs. I'm sure my Mom and I will be returning to this plaza in the near future. I would like to try Hot Stone Pho one day. This is one busy plaza as soon as Bake & Che and Da Vien Coffee officially opened. These cars blocking the way have their hazards on not even taking the open spots. Drinks don't come out that quick. Across from these drink places is Hot Stone Pho and Tip Top Mart. Grand Opening for Moonlight Flower Massage is there too. There is one of those camera police light to capture the action here so that's one space taken. There should be a security guard here pushing these double parked vehicles waiting to wait on the side street. River Avenue is a good one to wait because it's not going to block the bus stop in front. That's what the star rating I am giving this plaza for allowing the chaos.

There are multiple seating areas, a section for dogs, and reading stations throughout that tell the store of the city of Downey's contributions to space exploration and movie history. I also came across the Time Capsule, that will be opened in 2056, which is the year of its 100th anniversary. It would be cool to see what was put inside on October 17, 2016. I've been here several times to eat at some of the restaurants. Parking is plentiful. You can spend an entire day here browsing the stores, watching a movie, and grabbing a bite to eat.

The fact that there's so many businesses (nothing wrong with the businesses, they're great) and the fact that the parking pit in the basement is shared with the hotel, it's an absolute PvP zone. People are driving, backing up, parking randomly and doing things without looking and without regarding their surroundings. If you want a good jump scare this is the place to go. You enter from a busy street, and even when you're driving into the plaza, someone will just back up randomly. In the pit, it's not that much better too, with people driving well above a standard parking speed limit and fighting for spots. When you leave the pit, the cars on the upper layer have a stop sign, but it's of no use. People disregard it so they can turn out of the plaza ASAP so if you're coming out of the basement parking, be careful or else you're gonna get hit for sure. Of the entire time I was there, not a single car stopped for that stop sign. I just had to time myself getting out of there so I don't hit anyone and since it's going uphill, there's always a chance of your car sliding back and hitting someone behind you. Other than the parking horror, the plaza isn't bad. 3 floors of mixed businesses from shopping, medical services, and lots of food places (tsukemen, coffee, chicken sanwiches, a bakery, etc.).

There may be a few more biz that I didn't capture because their biz name is in Chinese characters. I see a few vacant spots as well waiting to be filled. Cheese and was pleasantly surprised by how big it was inside! I don't remember this mall having a Chuck E. Cheese when I was a child. I remember a Macy's which has closed and left that side empty. The mall does smell like seafood thanks to seafood city which is not enticing for a mall. I didn't get a chance to check out any of the other stores but likely will come back for the Chuck E. Cheese.
