We had the exclusive area from 11:00AM to 2:30PM, with drinks, unlimited BBQ lunch (potato salad, green salad, burgers, hot dogs, baked beans, chips, popcorn, and ice cream) and tailgate games. Soda, wine and beer at the bar from what I could tell. The main Sun Room with the glass ceiling was bright, and had two connected rooms. The views of the beach, water and wharf were awesome. You could open the windows to let the sea breeze in. I can see how this venue could be used for like a wedding reception. I can't speak to the cost of such a private corporate event but as an attendee it was very smooth, great service with the food and bar. Restroom was fine, water bottle dispenser, security staff too.

The room itself was beautiful, and overall quite reasonably priced. The food itself was okay, not amazing but did the job for the send-off brunch (I don't think anyone from the brunch will be raving about how great the food was, nor will they be saying it was bad). They provided a marquee outside, too, which was a really nice touch. My only complaint is that, after our contract was signed, they sprung that the food service would only be for an hour, despite the event being contracted for 3 hours. I think that should have been made more clear from the beginning. Overall positive experience!

I did notice some homeless folks sleeping on the lawn but that's a real problem for the city of Santa Cruz. I'm guessing that Yelper has never stepped foot inside the place or seen what this place does for the community. Today was my first time here and it was for a free dance class to learn "Thriller" just in time for Halloween. How cool is that, a free class! I suck at dancing so instead I left my wife to the class and I explored the grounds and wrote this review. I learned that Louden Nelson was a slave born in 1800 North Carolina who eventually (through a hard life of servitude) gained his freedom. He ended up in Santa Cruz in 1856 where he was able to buy a house and some property. When he passed away in 1860 he left all his land to the city of Santa Cruz to be used for education for children. This place is the result of that generosity many years later. In my stroll through the grounds I saw seniors playing ping pong, a little girl practicing ballet, a group of younger folks learning a dance in the auditorium. This place is a real asset to the community. So skip past the 1 star whining and get down to what this place really is, a great resource for the community.

We got a early access to the hall at 4 pm on the Friday prior to decorate and help set up tables. The tables and chairs are fold out but we were able to setup on three sections with ample space for kids to run around. There is a side room, ballroom style which can accommodate a DJ. Then there's a back kitchen with a couple stoves and ample space for a bar area. The hall has a stage and plenty of parking for guests. Although parking was not an issue there is a park across Little Corralitos Way for public parking. All in all, great experience, and not a ton of drama with the parking situation. Would recommend the hall for family get togethers and moderately sized events. One thing to keep in mind is cell service may be hit or miss and getting to the hall can be challenging for first time visitors. They can always stop at Corralitos Market and ask for directions.

The worst part is that the flow of traffic was not impeded, people were able to pass through normally etc. It's just neighbors like this Yosemite Sam asshole who believe Corralitos belongs to them and they're going to police people, these generational types living in grandma's house. This venue is a yes but you need to designate someone who can play yard duty otherwise your day will be a never ending cluster fuck.

Otherwise, it was a pretty nice experience the weekend I went back in April ! Fortunately, I was at Laurel Lodge, where it felt more hotel-style with each person having their own bed (4 beds a room) and one bathroom per room. There was also ample storage space. The room we all met in for sermons was also really nice and it looked like it was updated - with two 'lounge' rooms on each side of the main room. There is also a nice open field, a big dining area with lots of seating, and it is just pretty to walk around the conference grounds. I also really liked this little lounge area where you could get tea and coffee whenever you wanted. The campground staff was also helpful, and there was also a zipline and bouldering course further up the hill of the conference grounds that was fun to do for both students and youth leaders. I also came to this camp site a little over a decade ago and although I don't remember details of that stay, I do remember having a good time. It is really good quality facility.

I can't emphasize how many endless compliments we got on how gorgeous and unique the Sequoia is (especially the ceremony space surrounded by redwoods, and the cocktail hour deck with an amazing view of the forest) Diane, the owner, is so lovely, responsive/communicative, and accommodating. I was worried about having a secure place to store my jewelry- she got a safe just for us to use! I realized the morning of the wedding that I hadn't assembled our fujifilm cameras - she immediately stepped in to help. The venue is very customizable - it's BYOB (though FYI about wine/beer only policy- we served spritzes and sangria as our signature drinks), you can choose your own caterer, and we were able to save on florals because the venue is so pretty, it doesn't need any dressing up. We initially debated venues solely because the Sequoia was farther away for our guests -- but we kept coming back to the Sequoia, and I am so so glad we did. We would pick it again in a heartbeat!

It feels secluded and intimate, with a cozy, woodsy atmosphere that's perfect for couples looking for something a little different. From a photographer's perspective, the lighting in the grove is soft and dreamy, especially during the ceremony. The surrounding trees create a natural canopy that adds to the sense of privacy and connection, while the reception space is large enough to host a decently sized guest count.
