After sharing my experience with the Fredricka Kulicke School of Jewelry Art, they encouraged me to post a review online to help others avoid a similar disappointment. So, I decided to share my thoughts in the hopes that it might be helpful to others. A few years ago, I enrolled in Fredricka Kulicke's school with the hope of learning new skills and advancing my jewelry-making techniques, but my experience fell far short of expectations. The class lacked structure and clear guidance. Fredricka, the instructor, was not particularly friendly to new students. Whenever I had questions, she seemed jumpy and irritated, which made the learning environment uncomfortable. Instead of offering helpful explanations or support, I often felt like a burden when asking for clarification. As the instructor, she should have been able to manage a diverse group of students with varying levels of experience, but it was clear she struggled to provide meaningful instruction. Another major issue was the excessive list of supplies we were required to purchase before class. The list was long, and many of the items weren't even used during the course. By the end of the program, I had a tremendous amount of unused supplies. This unnecessary, and it seemed like the goal was more about encouraging students to keep coming back to use the remaining supplies and enrolling in future classes, rather than teaching practical skills in one course. The class also felt more like a social hangout than a professional learning environment. Fredricka seemed to have a close-knit group of long-time students with whom she was more comfortable, and the overall atmosphere felt cliquish. These students often worked on the same project for months, and the vibe was more about chatting and socializing than actually making progress or learning new techniques. It became clear that this wasn't a school focused on serious instruction but rather a casual hobby group. Ultimately, I didn't even finish my last two classes because the experience had become so invaluable to me that it wasn't worth returning. The classes didn't offer any real value, and I realized it wasn't worth my time or money to continue. This is not a professional school--it's more of a social hangout for people who want to work on the same project for months without real guidance. If you're serious about developing your jewelry-making skills, I would strongly advise against this program. It was a frustrating and unproductive experience, and I left feeling like I had wasted both time and money.

I worked with freddie on and off over 8 years in many different studios. she is an excellent…read moreteacher and imparts her vast knowledge with good humor and patience. her current studio is cozy and well equipped. the class atmosphere is focused but relaxed at the same time. during hundreds of hours in her studio I created many beautiful pieces in fine & sterling silver with semiprecious stones. other students worked in 22k gold which is Freddie's perferred medium. she is classically trained and excels at loop in loop chains, granulation & enameling. if you are serious about metalsmithing and jewelry fabrication, freddie is your teacher. You can definitely tell he truly appreciates everyone's business and really tries to make sure everyone has a good time. Though I am an introvert at heart, I appreciate being pushed a little outside my comfort zone and being put at the bar to mix drinks. This was the only reason I purchased them for weekday availability as it is very difficult for me to take off work on a Saturday. When I called to schedule, I was told that the course is not 8 hours and more like 4-5 hours & that they only have them available on Saturdays. I was very disappointed to hear that I was mislead by the Groupon and their website. I went to their Instagram page & they had a post that showed the dates available to schedule for the certification class. Along with the dates was an excerpt saying that you can message them to request a weekday for an extra cost. I messaged them through that specific post explaining my situation and they deleted the post and never responded to me. I also left a message on their website as well & they never got back to me. I am very disappointed as I was super interested in attending and would've certainly posted about it and recommended other people to attend & attend other events, or gifted to others. Edit: I knew the owner would respond and that is why I included that it is written on YOUR website and YOUR instagram page that you have weekdays available. It's not just misinformation through Groupon, it's you too!

While I respect personal lifestyle choices, I personally prefer an environment where my young child's focus is fully on the class and music rather than these kinds of distractions. Sandy is sweet, passionate about ceramics and was extremely flexible whenever I needed to reschedule and was always willing to work with me. I took my partner here for a wheel throwing class and although he was reluctant he really enjoyed his time and we had fun! I absolutely recommend checking out this cute studio nestled in the ground floor of a residential building. It might be a little hard to find and enter it (intercom system) but definitely worth it.
