Great selection of antiques but customer service is lacking. The owner, Edith I believe was her name, told me no photos as I was looking at art, I said okay! She then rudely said, "did you hear me" my phone was not even on it was just in my hand and I was not taking a photo, I replied I had heard her and she waited for me to repeat back "no photos" as if I was a child, she then said "you can buy them but no photos" gee thanks but no thanks. Nice antique mall, staff are attentive and accommodating of my endless requests to open cases and examine items. Prices are what you would expect, but there are bargains to be found. The vendor who runs the coin case in the back has pretty good pricing for coins. read more

The innermost room in the back gave me really weird, uncomfortable, and eerie vibes. Don't understand the pricing on leather goods as nothing about them were exceptionally rare or collector's items. You can probably walk into Prada alone and find the exact same one this place carries for $100 extra. Anyway, the collection was not impressive to me. The only people who would care to be seen accessorizing the items from here would be well past their 60's and even then, old people don't care about what they wear at that point. Ugh! read more

Okay selection of antiques and collectibles with various dealers spread out over several rooms and vignettes. Only problem is everything I was interested in had no price. If you are not considerate enough to price your finds then I will not consider purchasing them. I need to know the negotiating baseline is not an arbitrary number based on my interest. read more

This antique shop is fabulous! There are so many unique pieces. I was there with my daughter and we were blown away! We ended up looking at their jewelry, there is an eclectic mix of fine and costume baubles. The owners Edith and Jerry are lovely. We were also helped by a wonderful gentleman who was attentive without being pushy. We never felt pressured. I purchased a beautiful necklace made of different types of pearls with a mother of pearl clasp. I also bought a very cool bauble necklace. My daughter purchased an eclectic bracelet. Uncomfortable atmosphere, followed throughout the store as I browsed the selections they had, the moment I was finally left alone i overheard the owner say "why did you stop following him". (I could walk into a Channel or LV store in my workout sweats and be treated better) If they had considered for a moment that I was actually looking for someone who is a collector they may have made a sale. I work with the public and have always taken into consideration on how customers are treated, and for that experience alone, I will never return, and will advise my clientele of my experience when asked. read more

Montclair Antique Shop is sensational. They have all kinds of finds from fine bone China to cranberry vases to Limoges to Nippon. They have over 50 consigners. They have vintage Waterford & sterling. They have beautiful antique cherry and mahogany wooden tables. I constantly find myself buying beautiful things; I am addicted. The owners are very knowledgeable & exceedingly kind. This one is an easy one to write. I was hustling down Church street on a hot Wednesday when I looked into the window. There I was stunned by the memorabilia from World War 1 era. Quite honestly it offended me but I keep an open mind. What one woman values a man may not or visa versa. So I entered the store to be greeted by a wonderful lady elegantly dressed. She told me her name as we conversed but I would butcher the spelling if I tried. We talked about history. I threw out some names like Eugene Debs which directly related to the World War 1 time frame of the art. She didn't recognize that name. She in turn told me about China mentioning things totally foreign to me. In our shared naivety and expertise a bond was created. Naturally, I pulled out a poetry book and recited a poem. Excited about the store I left my bag, guitar, and poetry book with the fine lady and took a walk around. This is not a place where one can take in the beauty in one shot. It is like walking through a botanical garden except they had trinkets of wonder instead of flowers. I remarked, "You should charge admission as if this was a museum." Please note if you do shop here bring your credit card and expect to pay a fair amount of money. read more

Not your ordinary antique store! I have been shopping here for many years, and every time I visit I am amazed at how much they have to offer. From amazing jewelry, to sculptures, designer bags, art unique furniture, this is the place to look. The people who work there are very friendly and knowledgeable and stand behind what they sell. I have spend thousands on jewelry and other antiques, and have found similar items priced much higher elsewhere. I purchased a marble sculpture of a mother and son that I gave to my wife as a gift. It took my breath away when I saw it, and she had the same reaction. There are great deals to be had here! read more

Rude, officious, patronizing man at the counter caused us to leave the store inside of five minutes. We had browsed through the center several times in the past. On this visit, we made a simple informational request: what are the terms and conditions for renting space and selling in this "center." Rather than answering the question, the young man questioned whether we were up to the daunting task of pricing and selling our own possessions. When I mentioned we had an early 18th-century map of Belgium (by Nicolas Visscher) on eBay, he became gratuitously contentious, really argumentative, as to our ability to know what we had (i.e., to authenticate our map) and to price it appropriately. Anyone who tries to sell an antique on eBay, he implied, is an idiot. This is precisely the kind of small establishment that drives people to the internet. If you want to visit an establishment where obnoxious staff will elevate your blood pressure to unsafe levels, this is your place. If you're not in need of a stress test, avoid at all costs. read more

We visited this antique store last week while on vacation from NC. We looked at trip advisor for the address reviews and where to park since we were new to the area. The ad said parking behind store. We found the store and parked and was admonisthed by the rudest man. He rudely admonished us for parking behind the store and told us to move to public parking back across the street. Not what trip advisor says but there were signs that said it was for the gallery staff. This man was so rude it was absolutely ridiculous. I wouldnt have bought anything from this store if they would have offered it for free. Then continuing with his rude rant he says "the entrance to the store is on the main street.""" Duh Idiot to boot. If you are looking for nice proprietors there are many on church street, but not the man with gray hair and the black dyed moustache. I found him very rude and when I saw that he worked there I left the store. No room for rudeness when you are enjoying your vacation. I hope that if he comes south he is treated the same way. read more
