I was receiving eyecare for several years with no problem. They had referred me for cataract surgery and were completing follow up appointments. I woke up one morning and could not see out of one of my eyes. I was scared and I called Montana Eyecare to get an appointment. I explained the situation to them and they told me I would have to wait 4 months for an appointment. I had never cancelled an appointment and had always paid my bill on time. I called Mountain View Eyecare, where I had never been, and they were able to get me in the next day. They were compassionate and professional and I am so glad I found them. I would never return to Montana Eyecare if they were the last eye dr. in Helena. Strongly recommend AGAINST going to this business. I give this office a 0/10. read more

When I called for an appointment it was five months out. When I said I needed a pressure test for glocumac she said she could do fairly quickly and set my appointment for June 5th, 3 weeks from the date I called. When I arrived for my appointment today, they said the appointment was canceled. I told her I did not cancel it. After looking at the schedule and calling someone in back she finally said they canceled it because I had not been seen recently and they needed to do a full exam before the eye pressure test. They DID NOT CALL ME TO CANCEL the appointment. She said to come back in September. This is June 5th. I told her I would find another eye clinic. We left and while driving home the clinic called me and wanted me come back and would try to fit me in. I told her no because of the incompetence of not calling to cancel the appointment and September was too long to wait. I had a stroke three months ago and it is extremely difficult to navigate for appointments. I would not recommend this clinic due to the hassle they created for me and they're too busy. read more

I contacted him when I first moved to Helena on the recommendation of my optometrist located in another Montana city in the Eastern part of the State. Bill is a kind and caring professional. During the 25 years with Montana Eyecare I've not had a single unpleasant experience with any staff member nor another doctor when Dr. Simons has been unavailable on the rare occasion I've had an emergency. I've being seeing Dr Hasquet for 25 years. Great doctor. Today, after my usual thorough exam, I was handed over to the most rude, condescending eyeglass technician I've ever experienced. If you want to spend hundreds of dollars on eyewear and be disrespected at the same time, then this is the place to go. I was visiting town on business when I had an issue with my left eye. I called my eye doctor back home and they suggested I find an eye doctor right away. I happened to be having breakfast when I saw the Montana Eye Care building and took a chance and walked in. I was nervous that something was seriously wrong with my eye. I explained my situation to the lady at the front desk (she was awesome!) and she got me in to see Dr. Hasquet right away. I was very impressed with his thoroughness. He explained to me what was going on with my eye and cleared me for my flight back home. I was so grateful for his help! I was able to relax and head home. I have been going here for years for eye appointments and have no complaints. I wanted to write a review today because I went in to have my new glasses adjusted and I am so pleased. Even though I bought the glasses from an outside source (Warby Parker) they still helped me and got them adjusted properly free of charge. And it all took less than 10 minutes! I already liked Montana Eyecare and this is just icing on the cake. The staff are always professional and helpful, happy to answer questions, and very conscious of covid. Spent 2 weeks waiting to get into see them for a eye exam. Went in and worked with Mike who told me I should be able to get a pair of new lenses in existing sunglasses. This was big for me, because I could not afford the 600 pair of sunglasses that were equivalent. Sent to lab. Heard nothing from Mike for two week. Called in today to check on my glasses. Mike told me that Lab is unable to do them because of astigmatism. So waiting a total of two weeks to hear this new was dissapointing. I had an exam and purchased glasses in 2017. I never felt the correction was right even after returning for the second exam but decided my eyes weren't as good as in my younger years. I recently had an exam at Costco and my sharp vision has returned despite my age with my new glasses from that visit. Their service was great and the price was much less. read more

Many year patient here, but no longer. With their new building the customer service and hometown feel is gone. The staff are anything but friendly and accommodating. It's always been a wait in the office when you get there. (They even have signs everywhere that say if you've waited more than 15 minutes to see the receptionist.) However, now they have a policy that they will not see patients that are 10 minutes past the appointment time. So it's okay for you to be there and wait in their office for them, but not for them to wait on you. Look elsewhere for your eye care needs. read more

They exhibited a remarkably poor standard of care and scheduling is a mess. They take you right back to one of their many exam rooms, but from there you'll be left waiting with no idea whats going on or how long it will take. Broke my only pair of glasses(unrepairable) and my current eye care place said it would take a week or two to get a replacement pair. I searched for another place and called Montana Eye Care in Helena and they were quick to tell me to come over and they could get me a replacement in a day or two. After visiting with their staff and finding a set of frames they had me take the frames to the facility that makes their lenses. First thing the next morning I was called saying my glasses were ready. Couldn't beat that customer service and care from their employees. Needless to say, I'm switching to Montana Eye Care. Have gotten lenses here once, and had my frames fixed twice. Very professional, courteous and cordial service each time. The new facility is a little "over the top" in terms of size and glitz, but the service is excellent. My only concern is cost. Much, much more expensive than getting glasses at Costco. I don't have vision insurance, so I pay the whole freight. Ouch. But Montana Eye Care does deliver top notch service and high quality materials. When I have stepped on or sat on my frames, I have walked in and gotten them fixed (for free!) in just a few minutes. read more

So I'm just new to Helena and needed my glasses adjusted and it was a Saturday morning. They were open and the ladies that worked on my glasses were the best. Fast forward a month or so and now it's time for my yearly exam. I call them up remembering the great service I got when my glasses needed help. The lady that answered the phone was not happy, it was very obvious that she didn't want to be there. After she took all my information she "needed to inform people" that they were not talking new patients. So in update of my previous review. This has been the biggest hassle in my intire live and I'm releasing that the newer issues are more of a lab based problem vs the the actual store so I have upped my stars to three science my last posting the customer service has improved mainly as I think I'm meeting with a manger now vs the employees. But here we go. I paid for the upgrade and 4 days later they where ready I was super excited but was also super busy so when I picked em up I was in a rush I stopped in and picked them up really quick threw em on and left and raced back to walmart once I slowed down a bit I realized my vision was really cloudy under the bright lights so I pulled the brand new digital Hi index AR lenses glasses of and took a good look at first they looked dirty so I tried cleaning them off and the problem remains under closer view it looked to be the coating had all kind of abrasions on the lense right more then left it was on the inside lense closes to the eye as if the coating had been all grinded up it was the strangest damn thing I only had them on long enough to take an Uber from there store to Walmart so I called them and was asked to place them in there case tell the next morning and come back apon arriving I showed em what was going on at first they seemed to think I had caused the problem as they claimed they check em before leaving I told the mm I watched her pull them out and hand them to me and I only had them on all of maybe 20 mins. I showed them look it wired if you look straight at em you can barley see it tell u hold em up to the light and that's when it pops clearly neither I or them noticed it untill I was under Walmart bright lights The called the lab and the lab wanted to analyze then and I was told it would take a week for analysis and remake I also showed them that the same lense was not cut to the exact shape of my frame like the other lens was leaving a gap in the corner that your nail can fit in and there was similar but less abrasionon the opposing lense also I just paid 191 out of pocket and my insurance paid 550 for a pair of glasses that I can barley see out of I was not happy The assured me the issue would be resolved but it takes time to make new lense I said thank u and left the glass for them to send out it wAs only two days later that the glasses where said to be ready I asked them how that was possible it took four days to do the original Lenses because the digital cut and treatments and I suspected they only removed the coating and reapplied it she assured me they made new ones so I picked em up first thing I noticed was the lense cut was not fixed it was sitting the same way but the abrasions where no longer visible and I needed them for work so I didn't bother with the cut issues also the Amal scratch on the apposing lense remained but it was hair line and was out of view it wasn't all of 5 hours untill they needed cleaned (AR is natorius for getting dirty easy) but when it was all dirty you could see a ghosting of the original obrasions as if the lense it self inside was damaged with hair lines from the obrasions at first I could only see them when it was dirty again I needed the glasses so I just kept them when with in a few weeks the scratches being to reaper I use a socialite AR protected cleaner and ultra soft cloths and my last AR glasses didn't get scratch for almost 8 months I take very good care of the mm but it like the smearing brought out the obsessions cleare and when you clean em really well you can only see them when you bounce light off of them but after a few weeks they have gotten noticeable and noticeable and now there're always there there also some very clear ones that don't finish with cleaning I took em back and showed em look there's no way they made these new this wouldn't be happening if so first they said I must be scratching them with cleaning and asked how I clean them I explained if whiten AR all my life I know how to care for them and keep them in amazing shape its only been about a month and It's clouding my vision again she said she could see some of the abrasions and would call the lab the lab agreeed to make brand new ones free of charge but any more remakes would coast me 40% I thought that was rediculous but I agreed and told them I want them made correctly this time. So to make sure they make them brand new I was allowed to keep the ines untill the new lenses are ready to go in the frame I will be sure to mention again about the space long gap but that minor I just want a pair of glasses that are the quality for the coast I should not have to remake lenses the first day and a month later clearly there is some kind of defect in either the Marie rail or the treatment but I hope the issue gets fixed this time. I will be sure to go over the new set with a fine tooth comb (not literally) to be sure there's no imidiate issues but I have to say what a hassle for a nearly 800$ pair of glasses! Yikes read more

My left eye is an ongoing concern because of a damaged cornea, so fitting contact lenses is a big problem at best. Dr. Kelley is the most patient man in the world - he's given me so many trial contacts and supportive help through the years. You bet, I'd prefer the 'small town' atmosphere again, too, but because of their excellent care their business has grown and that means a larger building, more staff, and more patients. I don't like waiting in a back room for a long time either, but then maybe Dr. Kelley has his reservations about going through the contact lense trials over and over again, too. The negative comments can help the staff realize their little shortcomings and do better - I'd recommend this office to anyone. read more

Billing was a mess. I have my own vision plan and I am also covered under my husbands plan. They told me on the day of service that both insurances were verified and I was/am covered under both plans. They told me they would bill my ins. first and then my husbands the remaining. Then I got a bill from them for almost $300 and at the same time I also received a statement from my own insurance stating that they had already paid and my balance should be $70. I called and they said they would resubmit the claim. They also told me that I'm not covered under my husbands plan. So I would have to pay the remaining balance. We contacted my husbands ins and I took the paper to them and they looked it up and guess what? I. Am. Covered. Under. Both. Plans! My son and husband are due for new glasses. We will go somewhere else! read more

The eye doctor that I saw was good, but their billing department and their customer service was horrible. Getting my appointment scheduled and then checked in for my appointment was a nightmare I don't want to relive. Scheduling my appointment I felt like I was being interrogated by the CIA, they asked so many odd personal questions that I felt were not remotely relevant to an eye exam appointment in the least. Then the day of my appointment the girl at the front desk acted like she didn't really want to be there and that I was just the biggest inconvenience to her, checking in and all. Then they billed me AND my insurance for the examination which makes me wonder how many people they do that to and how many people just pay the bill without questioning it because they're scared of being turned into collections. When I called them the receptionist was nice enough, thought this was going to be a pleasant experience until I got there. So I'm getting my glasses through Vocational Rehab which non of the front desk personnel knew anything about. No big deal they found someone who worked with Vocational Rehab and the procedures you follow for them. From the moment she began to help me she was sassy and demanded all this paperwork, I said I thought you were familiar with Voc Rehab, then she started spouting off about I've been working here nine years, I said I can appreciate that, but she was determined to show her authority. She was a very rude women., almost like I needed a body guard to protect me, very hostile. I'm from the South and have worked in Customer Service in Helena for 4 years, never would I treat a customer in that manner. So I finally got passed her majesty and had my eye exam, the dr. was very professional and did a very thorough job. When I thought my day was going to be smooth just picking out some frames, I meet the girl that's going to help me pick out my eyewear so she offers with the monies that I have, progressive frames, transitional lens, this apt is going on for about an hour, so far I've been here over 2 hrs I'm ready to wrap this thing up. So she assures me everythings ok, just wait 7-10 days to pick them up. No sooner had I walked out and got down the street she calls me and tells me I need to come back shes not sure she got the right measurement for the progressive lens. I was livid, I had just spent over 2 hrs in that office it was not a pleasant experience. I told her I would be back on sept 20 after 4:00, when I arrived she was on break and decided to let her co-worker deal with me, which made me feel unimportant. The new girl wasn't the happiest person in the world either(something going around in that office), (OWNER NEED REALLY TAKE HEED)she doesn't know me doesn't seem to really care just takes the measurement which took about 30 minutes. All is well. I get a phone call during dinner, Its Montana Eye Care its the girl that doesn't know me(that just took my measurement) says that I have to pay them 60.00 for progressive lens. I said they are covered she said no they are not, then I told her I have had the most horrible experience of my 55 years of life dealing with them. Then she has the nerve to blame this whole experience on me. I told her I must go because I'm about to un leash a little bit of southern justice on you. At least I can vent this. I have never seen so many women run around in one office looking so unhappy and don't really care about their customers. Maybe they care more for people that can afford the more expensive glasses. You Drs. or the owner really need to look at these reviews and get your staff under control. At this point I don't think I could ever go back it really has been a nightmare. read more
