Someone around here has psycho-kinetic powers because they knew the instant I created this listing!…read moreIt's awesome that I added this listing to Yelp about a week ago, and within 2 days of doing so, someone had reviewed it. Way to get in there before me! I'm impressed and I tip my proverbial hat, although I don't wear a hat. Anyway. But it's a glorious old building in the heart of Rochester, with some decent food options inside. It has its own security and doorman and such, and a lovely floral plant-filled area inside, sort of like a courtyard in the middle of a towerblock. The popular hipster Yelpy place inside is Sapori, which doesn't impress me, but it's hella cool to have such a trendy sandwich shop inside such a lovely old NY State building. I say that because the feel of the place could only be NY State, or perhaps somewhere like Cleveland. It's extremely North East. The building is like what Manhattan buildings would have been like in the 50s. I love it. Like Icona Pop, I love it. Now I'm at the peak of my powers, I'll quit this review.

From inside and out, there's absolutely nothing that isn't short of spectacular! The first floor has retail which includes a tailor, an optometrist, and much more. It also has quite a few sculptures and art pieces. Entrances off of State Street and Main Street lead to the atrium. The atrium itself has another hidden gem in the form of Sapporo's cafe, which will be covered in a later review. Ferns and hostas proliferate throughout this multi-story extravaganza. You really feel like you're in a whimsical garden while walking through the space. Being that it's mostly professionals in the building it's nice and quiet. A perfect spot to read a book or simply have a seat and relax. No matter the weather, you'll leave this space feeling brand new. It's truly remarkable.

But could tell she was at least trying her best. Also was able to observe two customers arguing, ready to get into a fist fight, so at least I had a little entertainment to help ease me the extra-long wait! But i have to admit that the long wait was becoming unacceptable. So, I needed to text my supervisor explaining the situation, and why it was taking me so long. Even snapped a picture so my boss could see the fiasco happening before my very eyes! Until finally, a very professional woman in her 30s came to help me. I appreciated how very observant she was and noticed the way i was looking, needing to be helped. Besides her attractiveness, what impressed me the most was her professionalism, knowing exactly how to send my important court documents with a raised seal to my fiancé in the Philippines. I immediately could see she was a very competent postal employee who understood her job. I was very saddened by the experience I had at the Howard Road, Rochester, NY, Post Office last Saturday, February 14th, as the gentleman Postal Clerk adamantly refused to send my certified mail to the Philippines, making it seem like all the US Post offices do not send certified mail to the Philippines! Told me to check in very annoyed way to check out UPS, so went to them and wanted $250 to send. So funny!! So, I went to Upper Falls Post Office, and it cost me $49.75. After so much pain, struggle and frustration trying to mail a certified letter with tracking (gets delivered in 10 days besides), i didnt mind spending an extra $30 just for the peace of mind. I like knowing my important documents won't take 5 weeks to get to the Philippines and possibly get lost in the mail in some foreign post office..

Popped by this post office after doing some in and out downtown errands yesterday! WOW - this…read moreshould have a world record for smallest post office in all the land. During these COVID times, this is not the best. I essentially waited in the vestibule until there was no one else in the tiny waiting room. I imagine this location must get nutty during peak times, so I would try and drop by during the weekdays if at all possible, so as to not feel cramped. When it was time to send my package, the staff was unbelievably kind, efficient, and helpful. While I only had a two minute interaction (weigh, swipe, thank you, see ya!), it left an impression. Workers of these offices are not getting the props they deserve for being an essential business during this time and having to deal with people in and out at a consistent clip. This is a great and convenient location to send packages for holiday times, just make a plan to wear your mask and have everything ready to go prior to arriving, to save time and limit your exposure/exposure to the staff. Happy holiday gifting!

It is hard to review a post office since they are all pretty much the same. The location here is…read moreperfect being that it is close to a lot of the big buildings downtown. I think the location is the reason why it gets so much business. That being said, I am surprised anyone thought it was a good idea to open such a small office. It is tiny. There is room for a line of about 5 and then the line is out the door. Also, I have never seen more than 1 person working at a time so it can take a long time to get through that line. The area that every post office has to fill out paperwork or put stamps on your envelopes is also small which would be fine however the line for service is against it so if there is a line, you can't really use that work space Overall, I will continue to come to this location because it is so convenient to work. The facility is clean and the staff is nice but expect to wait in line in cramped spaces. If you want to meet a new friend, the line here may be a good place to donor since you are so close.
