    First Friday gallery walk
    Christina B.

My husband and I try to stop by every first Friday since this is a stop on the gallery wall. To be honest, if you could only do one stop on the gallery wall this would be it. It feels so elegant, there's usually music playing, wine and light hors d'oeuvres being served and beautiful art on the walls. I've been to other events at the convention center and they always feel upscale.

It's a pretty spiffy convention center for a small-ish town like Bloomington and I've had the pleasure of checking out several events here over the last few years. Most recently, I visited for the Return of the Mac festival (Yelp partnered) and thoroughly appreciated the ease of free and abundant parking at this location. I also appreciate that it's only a stone's throw from the downtown square (great for out-of-towners hoping to explore. The space is clean with an abundant number of restroom stalls and from what I seen, they have the capacity to host more than one event/group at a time with the two floors of space. I appreciate the number of windows and natural light that floods in to the front of the building (great for food photos ;). I will say depending on where you park it can be confusing to figure out which entrance is correct given your event and destination. No biggy.

First Friday of the month their is a nice Gallery Walk . View wonderful art, and listen to great music and drink nice wine and enjoy socializing with others from 5pm till 7ish. Must do event. It's fun and you will have a great time.

I really liked this coffee mug. We returned on day #2 and had been already purchased. Ugggh

There were maybe 60 chairs to sit down and eat. I don't know where the breakdown in communication happened, but we all RSVP'ed, $33 each, and the numbers were so off it was like Sycamore Farms planned for 60 people. It's a beautiful venue, but I'd be very hesitant to book an event there again given what happened that night.

There is plenty of space for guests to mingle both in the barn and out on the lawn. Croquet, cornhole, etc. in addition to a designated smoking area. Bathrooms are set up in adorable converted stalls, the bar area is easy to access, there is a designated space for a buffet setup, and I loved the table decor. String lights and soft lighting (no harsh fluorescents!) made the entire place feel like it was lit by stars and moonlight. The dance floor is a covered space between the two sections of the barn, but the walls are open for easy access/mingling. Small tables everywhere, so I never felt like I had to scramble for a place to put my wallet and phone. The owners were unobtrusive, kind, and made sure everything went off without a hitch. If you're searching for a Bloomington-area wedding venue, Sycamore Farm is highly recommended!

The eggs and biscuits & gravy were especially good--fresh, hot, and actually flavorful, which you don't always get with hotel breakfasts. The room itself was spacious, which we appreciated, but there were a couple of comfort issues. It tended to run a bit warm, and the thermostat didn't seem to cool down to the temperature we set. The air also felt pretty dry overnight. We had an accessible (handicap) shower, and while it was easy to use, it left about half of the bathroom floor soaked after each shower. That made the floor very slick, which was a bit of a safety concern. We also liked that the hotel had a pool, which is always a nice perk, but it was pretty small. Overall, a nice stay with great amenities and breakfast, but a few room comfort and bathroom design issues that could be improved.

Small food store in the front that was very reasonably priced. Rooms were clean, bright and well appointed. Didn't use room service but it was very clean and well dressed. Breakfast setup is typical for the chain and well stocked. Attendants did a great job every day that I was there and they were always cheerful. One drawback is that the gym is very limited. There is enough to get in a workout but the cardio gear is very dated. Overall, solid experience and I recommend this location for a short or long stay.

I realize this is a large ask because the billionaire that owned pace salsa is from San Antonio, and spent much of his own money regentrifying the pearl. However, with a local culinary school it's definitely possible. I can imagine adding bars, restaurants and shops to the outside space, and including the creek that runs by in the plans.
