We were in and out of the chairs in less than 10 minutes, which felt more like being processed than receiving a service we paid for. As two Black men, we couldn't shake the feeling that we were being hurried along before too many of the regular customers noticed us. Whether that was the intention or not, we left feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable. I've had several pedicures over the years, and I've never experienced one that felt this rushed or impersonal. They do good nails but they're are so rude one of the lady's were coming at my mom telling her why she doesn't leave a tip that it's rude and she kept belittling her saying that she's a grown woman and that she should leave a tip. I went back in the store to leave a tip for my mom. I told the lady never to talk to my mom like that again that is rude and that she doesn't need to leave a tip I work in customer service. I called and made an appointment and when I arrived, they looked at me like I didn't make an appointment and they didn't know what I was saying. For years, I regularly came to this place for simple gel manicures. I saw the bad reviews and gave them the benefit of the doubt. Most of the time my nails turned out fine. After today, I will not be returning and I'm a little sad about it. The woman who did my nails was pretty unpleasant. She rushed through the entire time, was very distracted with conversations with other employees (conversation is fine, but she would stop what she was doing to chat), did sloppy work, didn't notice the light to the drying lamp not turning on despite me informing her. Overall, she made me feel like I was inconveniencing her. After this experience I left with my nails looking awful. My son paid for his wife, 4 year old daughter and myself for pedicures. The location is nice and clean. I didn't like that prices aren't listed in clear view so you're sort of set up with unexpected prices. However, I sat down with Mia and choose the regular spa pedicure with gel polish. Suffering from chronic pain the reflexology pain was heaven. It took my pain away first time ever in 19 years. I will go back and see Mia. DIRTY TOOLS! I have been going to Chocolate Nails since they opened in Monroe. 6+ years now. Overall, I have never had any major issues..........until recently. I always have the more expensive pedicures, which I prefer b/c they have a longer leg massage included. 2 weeks ago I was there on a Friday after work. New woman did my pedicure. Tools she used were NOT clean, nor sterilized. They were taken right out of her dirty little basket she brought to my pedicure station. I told her not to use them when she started. I wanted new, clean, sterilized tools. She looked at me like I had 10 heads. Her co-worker next to us spoke to her. She then walked to the sterilizers and brought back "new" tools. I'm sure they were the same ones that she put in the plastic sterilized sleeve thing. She came back with, what I hope and pray, were sterilized tools. She was clearly inexperienced and/or not licensed! The problems didn't stop there. I paid over $80.00 for this...stupid on my part. I spoke to the owners/managers - FOUR of them as I was leaving. They all stood and stared at me. One kept her back to me and clearly told her partners something in their language. I voiced how I have been coming there for roughly 6 years. They know my face for sure! They made the woman come over to me and she simply said..."sorry" I told them I don't want an apology, I want to know why the tools were not clean, the woman had no clue what she was doing, and why were they all standing there staring at me. More employees came over and just stood there with blank faces, staring at me. It was as if they were trying to intimidate me. I will NEVER go back. I have also told off of my referrals to stop going here. I have also reported this to the OC Department of Health. Get it together Chocolate Nails! I have been a client with Chocolate Spa for over seven years. I have always had a very quality experience here. The products that they use for nails are superior, and I have never, ever had one nail break in all of these years. Additionally, I enjoy having my lashes done and most people double take and ask if my lashes are actually my lashes. They are mine if I bought them right? lol ...the point is, they look so good that most people can't tell if they are artificial. That's winning! I took my daughter for a pregnancy news celebration mani/pedi. They had attitudes during the manicure that was not worth the money then got pushy trying to up sell us during the pedicure while talking to each other in their language until my daughter said " did I show you this cool transition app that listens too you?". Shopping around for a new nail salon and decided to try this place. I got a pedi, which was good, but my fill and gel mani was HORRIBLE! Initially the work looked good, but my square points felt sharp. Didn't think anything about it at the time, but the very next day one of my gel polished nail bubbled up and peeled off on the corner of my nail. Then the following day, Monday three of my actual nails chipped. By Friday one of my chipped nails broke. That has NEVER happened to me before.. I have been here several times. I honestly don't know why I keep going back. Each time there is some kind of issue. Either they rush through or they take forever, but the end result is nearly always sloppy. This last time, in less than 24 hours, I not only noticed that my bails aren't as shiny as they should be with gel, but also got chips on both thumbs! And noticed a blob on my one thumb. My nails also feel paper thin after all the filing she did before applying the gel. It's a recipe for disaster. Now I just have to wait and hope they will recover by the next time I need to redo them...and survive a couple of weeks with chipped thumbs! read more

This place has really changed. Well, all except the viewing selection, I guess! My husband I go once or twice a month for the same pedi. This last time I was cut so deep bled (two times), and my husband didn't get the same time massage as I did, nor the wax on his heels- even though we got the same service. And to top it all of when I gave her my "punch" card, she brought it back and said oops I forgot it, use it next time. I'm sorry, what? Please go fix your mistake and give me $5 back.
