Asked exactly how i wanted it parted a certain way, etc. Did straighten my hair first, which i said that i didn't like- but for today i wanted no change and for it to be curly. She took out her curling iron and curled it up and all looked nice. I've been here before and used to go to brenda, but she has since moved, and like this salon because they use your preferences and it comes out good. I have never been disappointed by her work! I get a great hair cut and color every time because Theresa really takes the time to listen to what a client wants--and is realistic about the results based on an individual's hair type and texture. The salon itself is very open and airy, and clean! All of the employees are very friendly. I've had the misfortune in the past of being to hair salons where the attitude is snobby and elitist, not to mention being cauldrons of gossip and cattiness. Not here! At By George, because of kind, down to earth and talented people like Theresa, I feel right at home! I even recruited my mother into being a regular client! Georgette actually saved my mothers life , intervening when my mom went in to get her hair done and Georgette noticed my mom was looking very ill and encouraged her to go to the Dr. Saved her life. If I could give 0 stars I would. The most unprofessional place I've ever had my hair cut at. I walked in with my friend to get our hair cut. The lady who cut my hair was extremely unprofessional, not to mention RACIST ( my friend is black and was made to feel really uncomfortable even sitting there so he did not get his hair cut). I used to go here all the time to get my hair done. A few days ago I asked for a VERY SIMPLE touch up on my highlights and a trim. Georgette missed HUGE CHUNKS of my roots and then she hacked off large sections of my hair to "layer it". This is the worst haircut/dye job I've ever had. I'm going to need to spend a small fortune elsewhere getting it fixed. I can't believe I even paid for this, honestly, I think I was just in shock. The terrible cut which I DID NOT ASK FOR bothers me so much more than the terrible job doing my roots, it's going to take MONTHS before my hair looks normal again. I never really had a desire to go to Georges salon, honestly didn't look as appealing to me as other ones on the same street. But by default, I went there. The new monroe hair bar had no openings so I walked across the street to George's Salon. I'm very glad I went in. The hair dresser that cut my hair, Alla, took me in right away. The owner was very kind and inviting. I didn't even look or ask how much my haircut would cost, just figured it would be at least fifty dollars. Alla cut my hair, blew it out and styled it, taking extra time on my hair because my hair is so thick and long. She was very informative about how I could take care of my hair. While i was sitting there getting my hair done, I just noticed how everyone at George's Salon treated their customers like family. I really appriciate that kinda warmth and additude. Not only was their service excellent, their prices are great! All that was 40 dollars! I gave Alla a well deserved tip and I walked out of there with a smile on my face and now a new favorite place to get my haircut! read more

One day I stopped by without a an appointment to get my eyebrow waxed. They graciously waxed me right away which I really liked. As my regular salon was too busy too wax me and I had to get it done. They did a great job. The only down side was that I paid double the price. I would go back in a pinch though. read more

Even when I brought my own photos of my hair and how I like to wear it, I still left all of them with their idea, not mine. I honestly think they are programmed to just give the haircut of the day. Although I live locally, I commute to the city, and have struggled to find a convenient hair salon where I'm happy. Ive looked around this area before, but always end up back in the city. I've regularly spent two or three times as much at high end salons in Manhattan with senior stylists/colorists. Well, I'm so happy that I've found Alla, seriously an amazing colorist and stylist, at By George in Monroe. She cut my hair exactly like I wanted and my color is the best it's ever been (single process with a few highlights). She gave me a perfect balance of warm and sunny, blond-ish, natural looking color. The only real thing I miss from fancier salons is the method of hair washing, a favorite few minutes usually. Here it was efficient but no mini head massage included. A plus though, is that the hair washing station chairs and sinks are very comfortable. If you have neck problems, you'll appreciate this a lot. The bottom line, and what really matters, is the great cut and color! I really recommend you give Alla a try. Also, they use great products. I had my first experience at By George Salon yesterday. I needed to have my hair trimmed and roots taken care of for an event on Wednesday. With only a couple of days left, I was hoping beyond hope for an appt. Even though it was the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, I was amazed when Theresa picked up the phone and said I could come in around 5PM. I later learned that she usually does not work that late, but was doing so to accommodate me. When I arrived, Theresa literally did not touch my hair without speaking to me in detail about what I wanted, and she paid close attention. Theresa had a down to earth, sincere demeanor, and I felt at ease immediately. I told her to use her own judgement with the color and cut, and she did an amazing job. She was fast, professional, and personable, and most of all, she really listened! I definitely plan on returning to By George Salon, and found the prices to be in line with other good salons.
