Our first time camping, we drove about 2 1/2 hours to Monroe Canyon RV park. We loved it! Jordan who runs the place is amazing! The campground is very clean with beautiful views! They have water and electric hook ups, cute farm animals, game/corn hole, super clean bathrooms/shower and a garden (we could pick veggies and get fresh eggs). We will be back. Plus they do quite a business with their fresh ice cream!

Forgive me for not remembering the gentleman's name- We did not make a reservation and needed a place to setup for the night. When we called to check availability and the gentleman was very welcoming and accommodating. ***Very friendly and helpful staff- new park- very clean, spacious, great price and beautiful mountain views. Highly recommend, we will definitely return when we visit this area again. We had the opportunity to make a friend-- thank you for having us!! Best of luck and May God Bless you.

This RV park is a true gem and slightly off the beaten path. The facility is brand new and they have the cleanest, most updated bathrooms, showers, and laundry room we have seen. We felt very safe here. Jordan and his Mom were so welcoming, as were all those who stayed here or came for the delicious ice cream made by BYU. We can't wait to see what the future holds for this RV park because it's already amazing. We hear they are planning on a petting zoo in the future. We will be back!

Owner was very respectful and nice. Out of all the places we stayed on the way from Vegas to Colorado. This spot is by far the best.

I read all…read moreabout the hot springs and location on their website beforehand so I knew what I was getting into. The little shop in the main building check in area was very cute and had a lot of fun things to look at and buy! We stayed one night in a tent camp spot. There are restrooms attached to the main building with showers, toilets, and sink/mirrors. There's also a dish washing space for longer stays. The camp site had decent shade and grass area to put your tent on. There were a couple picnic tables for use as well. There are free-roaming peacocks that are beautiful but are definitely loud in the morning! We went in July which is really hot for the hot springs, but it was nice since it wasn't busy! We had our soak time from 8-10pm which was great to view the sunset and soak while the air cooled off. It's such a unique hot spring location with bathtubs and larger pools. The owner walked around and made sure everyone was comfortable and was super friendly. I liked that they weren't sulfur hot springs so you didn't stink after! The negative reviews here seem like they didn't read the website that explained what to expect. I appreciate the websites honesty in keeping this location rustic and authentic, while acknowledging there are things they could improve. Knowing you're not going to a five-star location would be beneficial. The small business aspect played a huge role, in having great hospitality and a very friendly atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, thank you!

They are small but they come with great hot and or cold water if needed with great water pressure. There is a dog wash in the back of the building. They also have a small dog pen for your dogs to run around in off leash. Ichose one of their small cabins. They are full stocked if needed (sheets / blankets and such). Each location has a deck, outside table, and fire pit. Some cabins come with more or less, just depends on what you choose. It would be nice if they had a few more tense spots. In all, Camp Host - does a great job in keeping location very clean and presentable. Job well done !!

Then the BATHROOM WAS CLOSED! That means no shower, no bathroom, and no one to complain to for a refund. Why does KOA allow them to still rent spots without some reference to this being a simple parking spot without any amenities? We would have been much better off to go and stay at a local hotel for the same price. If you are in a van or smaller RV avoid this place! Many of the sites are occupied by full time residences so it is more of a mobile home park rather than a camping spot. People driving in and out at all hours, heading to or coming home from work. Lot's of noise and again, no body around to request another spot, or to open the bath.

As part of our quest to visit all 63 U.S. national parks, we set off on a six week road trip. I…read morehave a personal rule: I only count a national park as "visited" if I actually spend time there, hike or walk through it, and truly experience it. On this trip, we visited 14 national parks, and Capitol Reef National Park became one of the most beautiful surprises of the entire journey. The drive from Death Valley to Capitol Reef was already an adventure, with constantly changing landscapes along the way. But nothing prepared us for the moment we arrived. Suddenly, the desert opened up into an incredible world of red rock formations, towering cliffs, and colors that seemed almost impossible. It was breathtaking. Capitol Reef is a smaller national park compared to some of the giants we visited, but it has a beauty and personality all its own. In fact, it became my husband's favorite park of the entire trip. There is something about the combination of landscapes, colors, history, and peacefulness that makes this park truly special. The scenery changes dramatically throughout the park. One area is filled with the famous red rock formations, cliffs, and sandstone walls that look like they were painted by nature. Then, as you explore other areas, the landscape changes into lighter limestone formations, with shades of yellow, cream, and gray. Everywhere you look there is a different view, a different texture, and a different color. One of the unique things about Capitol Reef is the historic Fruita area, where early settlers planted orchards along the Fremont River. Today, visitors can still see these beautiful fruit groves, which feel almost magical surrounded by the desert landscape. There is also a historic building in the Fruita area where they sell homemade fruit pies, and it is incredibly popular for a reason. The pies are absolutely delicious. We could not resist and enjoyed having pie and ice cream one morning for breakfast. When you are traveling, sometimes breakfast rules become a little more flexible! The park also has fascinating history, including ancient petroglyphs left by the Fremont people. Seeing these markings carved into the rock walls was a powerful reminder that people have been connected to this landscape for thousands of years. The hiking was another highlight. I especially enjoyed hiking through the Narrows, where I was able to explore on my own and experience the beauty and quiet of the canyon. Walking through the towering walls, surrounded by the colors and textures of the desert, was unforgettable. Capitol Reef feels like nature's own painting. The reds, oranges, yellows, blues, turquoise, and greens all come together to create a landscape that is constantly changing depending on the light. It is a park that invites you to slow down, look around, and appreciate the incredible creativity of the natural world. Capitol Reef may not always get the same attention as Utah's more famous parks, but it deserves it. It is beautiful, peaceful, full of history, and absolutely worth the visit.

If you're super fit and want to do hikes, good for you as there's plenty of strenuous hikes! If you aren't as active or use a mobility assistive device, you can travel on the very, very scenic drive and also learn about the ghost town of Fruita (although the NPS employees live there). If you time your visit right, you can even pick fruits from the orchards. I combined the Rim Overlook trail with the trail to Hickman Bridge to get amazing views, as well as hiked the Cassidy Arch trail. The trails weren't too crowded, so it was a great place to listen to nature and focus on hiking. You're rewarded with amazing views. Definitely hit up Gifford Homestead for fruit pies. They often sell out in the afternoon.

There's no water feature here but we had stunning mountain views all around us and lots of shade. It was in the upper 80s but the temperature here (at 6000 ft elevation) was not overwhelmingly hot. Sites are not close to each other and we scored on a corner spot complete with trees, a fire ring, picnic table and a doggie doo station. We had a ton of space! There's a dog run and two Kamp K9s; one is shaded and one is not. There's a short nature trail my dogs were enthusiastic about too. They were very happy here! The hardest thing for them was that even the driving paths were covered in rocks... they got sore paws trying to be nosy. My husband said this location has the absolute easiest and best wifi to connect to of all the KOAs we have visited. We enjoyed this one so much we stayed until checkout time just like we did at the Newton Iowa KOA. Pros: - a few miles off the highway; very quiet - lots of trees and beautiful views - very dog friendly; lots of poo stations - lots of amenities (game room, disc golf, pool, basketball, playground, volleyball court, etc) - lots of picnic tables - no codes for restrooms - huge shower stalls in the Women's Restroom (best showers so far!) - can do dishes in the laundry room or large sink outside - able to have two vehicles (only one at most locations, great for off-roading) Cons: - hard to navigate ourselves to our site (even the driving paths are covered in rocks) - not many trash cans around (but it's picturesque without em)
