After years of enjoying their mead "in the wild," I had my first chance to visit Monk's during Dragon Con 2025. From start to finish, everything was great. Allison at the bar was warm, friendly, and funny. She made it feel like I was visiting a friend at her home, and her thoughts and recommendations on some new meads to try were spot on. I ended up starting with a flight and shifting to a full pour of my favorite from the bunch (Savannah Heat). On top of wonderful staff and good drinks, if you're looking for something to eat, Monk's offers some tasty snacks to choose from including charcuterie, Bavarian style pretzels, girthy pickles, and a few other goodies. I snagged a pretzel to pair with my libations, and was happy with my choice. The visit and experience on Saturday was so good, I came back the next day for another round before dinner. So, whether this is your first time looking to try mead, or you've been someone who has enjoyed it for a while, Monk's is certainly worth a visit.

We came here on a Saturday afternoon right after they opened. The waiter was great and super helpful in explaining the menu and taking orders. Halloween decorations were all throughout and pretty fun. My partner and I got two flights and tried all the meads on the menu. My favorites were dragon's nectar, red wedding, and pink (bacchus blushed). I will definitely be back! The only thing I didn't like about this place was the drive down into the parking lot because it's at the bottom of a very steep hill so be careful driving in.

Has decent parking adjacent to the building. Food/Drink: Absolutely fantastic mead with a wide selection. Can get a sample of meads for $30. Bartender was warm and talkative. Gave us good recommendations based on our preferences.

What an amazing find and addition to the Atlanta scene! Monk's Meadery is Georgia's very first Meadery and is an all around amazing place to sip, sample and learn all about why Meade is the next best thing in the world of specialty booze! Monk's sits directly on N Highland Avenue diagonally across from Manuel's Tavern and sits on the downstairs backside of Java Vino. There is not much signage outside of a small building sign, but if you see Java Vino, then know you are mere feet from an amazing honey based beverage! The layout of Monk's is small with a three seat bar and about six high tops inside, but they also have a great tented outdoor space that easily holds 30+ folks comfortably. The night we visited was a little chilly, but it appears that they have a garage door that they open on good weather days to connect the inside and outside. Service was PHENOMENAL! Rae and Kat were the most pleasant, friendly, knowledgeable and all around amazing folks! They answered all questions we had, which were a lot as we knew nothing of Meade, gave us recommendations and legit even got to know us as patrons. It was an absolutely delightful time chatting with both of them! Now down to the Meade! They have a rolling menu of 12 house-made Meade's. You can get all of them in 3 or 10 ounce pours, or you can select 6 that you want in a flight! You can also get some as 4 packs of bottles if you wanted to take some home to enjoy! Given that we were novices, we opted for the flights. The flights are a great deal, as you get (6) three ounce pours for only $15! Another cool thing is the way they service it up, they allow you to number your choices on the menu from 1 - 6 and then they bring your flight back with your menu so you can follow along and know which exact one you are trying without getting lost amongst your Meade and the menu! My six tasty glasses of Meade-y goodness were... - Monks Meade - Peachin to the Choir - Dragon's Nectar - Belgian Brut - Orange Claudeous - Hazy Monk Hands down Dragon's Nectar was the winner of the night for me! It is a passion fruit, hibiscus and dragon fruit infused Meade and it was absolutely delish! The Peachin to the Choir and Hazy Monk were close runner ups! I will say the Hazy Monk was the most surprising of the night. The espresso flavor was so pronounced and perfectly balanced that I was equally shocked and impressed that they got so much robust flavor in such a smooth honey based drink! Overall, Monk's Meadery is a top spot for me and one that I will certainly visit again and that will definitely be on my recommendation list for all folks visiting Atlanta!

Stopped in here with a friend for a couple tasters of their mead. Wow. They have so many different things to try. The interior space is small-ish and cozy. The staff is super chill and was totally willing to help walk through the different flavors. There is cool art on the walls that is super unique, along with little "FYIs" about mead. Even the owner was walking around the tasting room and was totally available to chat. He clearly had a passion for his craft and a deep knowledge of the process and ingredients. You dont need to come here to get this good stuff either, "the official mead of DragonCon" can be found in most local stores and they also ship to 48 states. Go get some!

We stumbled across this place while walking around exploring Atlanta. The mead was delicious and the customer service was great! Most meads I've had have been pretty strong and mainly for sipping. They had a nice variety of lighter mead to more stronger mead. I loved the flavor variety! I would definitely return on a future visit!

I visited this place solo and must say the staff made me feel very welcomed! The owner and staff offered great explanations on the products as well as the history of how they came about. I did purchase a Groupon and was their first Groupon customer. This was a good way to sample everything. I left with a 4 pack and have been saving my last can until I can stop by again!

Absolutely awesome place to try several different types of mead. Highly recommend stopping in and getting a flight. The staff is super friendly and outgoing. They seemed to love pouring our mead as much as we enjoyed drinking it. Definitely grab a flight!

The next time in 2024 when I was in the area, they were closed for a remodel. Today was the day. The beer selection was fantastic and so was the food. I got the pork sandwich with greens on top. It was delicious, but it could've not had juices leaking so much? Maybe cheese below and above the meat to try to keep some of the juices off the bun or maybe more bun toasting? The fries were amazing and I should've gotten the aolie initially, but didn't get it until I saw another table with an order. It was delicious. The service was very good. The server had good knowledge of the beers, food, and was friendly. This is one of the best beer bars in the US. As for the food, I've really only ever tried their smokehouse burger, Asian-style loaded fries, and chocolate chip cookie skillet. I've tried the Asian-style loaded fries (pictured below) twice now, and I honestly don't recommend it unless you like your char siu pork to be drenched in salt. It was nearly inedible both times. As for the chocolate chip cookie skillet, it was delicious, I practically inhaled the whole thing! The thing that honestly keeps me coming back is just the overall vibe of the place! So I hit the x on the screen to close out of the other customers transaction, and the bartender rushed over and started berating me with "what are you doing you don't touch that" and even had the audacity to ask "you didn't put anything in did you?!??" At which point we explained and placed our order with drinks took the flag with the table number to go sit down After which, the bartender came to our table and was somehow even more of an asshole, and told us that "you're supposed to wait for these diet cokes I can't bring them to you" We were both quite angry. This person is awful. I don't know why anyone would behave this way with customers. It's not acceptable and reflects quite poorly on the establishment that this person works there. We wish everyone the best but will not be returning in the future. I don't recommend anyone eat here.

So make sure you have your IDs with you and are 21+. There's a bar area for drinks and a separate counter where you will order and pay for your food. (They make it pretty explicit that you can't get wings to-go.) Find a seat, and once your food is ready, they'll announce your name, and you pick up your food from the window. FOOD: We got wings in the flavors of lemon pepper (dry rub), sun-dried tomato (dry rub), buffalo lemon pepper (wet), and jerk buffalo (wet). I will say that I definitely preferred the wet wings to the dry wings. I found the dry wings to be a little too salty. In my opinion, the wings and the cook on them were just okay. I wasn't blown away or anything. Maybe the relatively cheap beer and the vibes help draw in all the appeal. TLDR// I don't think I had the greatest wings of all time here, but the vibes were really casual and pleasant. I'm glad I was able to try a place so beloved by locals.
