Hands down. Miss Kassie. The. BEST. We've been coming here for 2 years now. My son usually cries when he gets a haircut but she knows how to put a smile on his face every single time. read more

My baby needed a haircut and we wanted to be professionally done this time before his birthday in a few days. The application was made online weeks ahead. My boyfriend took our baby there and he came out looking more handsome. Its pricey $35, but my boyfriend don't mind and he can afford it so why not. Our baby didn't really cry. They have cute chairs for children and due to Covid-19, not many people are allowed and by appointment only. He got a certificate of his first professional haircut and attached a little mini ziploc bag with some of his hair as a memory. read more

I brought my two littles ones to get a hair cut with Melissa and I must say she was amazing! She was quick, friendly and her customer service was excellent. I'll definitely be bringing my kids back to Monkey Dooz. read more

Walked in and noticed it was busy, and asked if they only took appointments, and heavy set Latina looking woman employee, by the register said "yes" . Mind you, I had called about 20 minutes earlier to ask what time they closed (Yelp says 6pm and the lady that answered the phone specifically said "We close at 6 but take our last WALK IN at 4" never mentioned to make an appointment or that they were booked/busy.. as a matter of fact it could have been the courteous thing to do. She then asked what number did we call her from to fact check us, what was the reason for that? Then she looked at the time and said it was 30 minutes from the time we called.. so making it seem like we were too late or something.. idk it was embarrassing the way she was talking to us infront of others there, we aren't even from Riverside, we came down from Santa Monica to visit family and figured we can get a quick trim to even out our son's hair. read more

The first time I came here, I was really unhappy. The woman that cut my sons hair had no patience, wasn't friendly and didn't do a good job at all. Then we found Tara. Not only is she adorable, but she talked to my son the entire time and gave him toys and kept him distracted to give him the most perfect haircut I've ever seen!! If you go, definitely ask for or wait for Tara. She was made to do what she does and she does a wonderful job at it. I can't recommend her enough. She's wonderful. read more

Would give zero stars if I could. They have sign in log at the front but do not even take it into consideration. Checked in and waited over an hour and saw new people come and go and still waited and noticed they took the sign in log off the table that I had signed in on and by then still had not called for my kids names. Then they proceeded to only use an appointment only log on the counter without checking first if we had been helped after waiting over an hour from signing in. I ended up walking out because no child needs to wait that long to have their hair cut or be ignored. One other thing is they do not acknowledge anyone who walks in. Really poor customer service. Seems cute with the animal themes but I honestly had a better experience after at a different salon to get their hair cuts taken care of. I would not recommend this place and I will not be returning. They will waste ur time and ignore you especially if you go in as a walk-in if your spending time at the mall. Also not sure if they follow general guidelines for sanitation to keep clean tools at all times because one stylist dropped clipper guards on the floor while cutting another child's hair and proceeded to pick it up and still use it which is considered contaminated and which I know is a huge no with the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. read more

Melissa Thompson cut my sons hair for his first haircut ever. She was fantastic! No wait. She got to know my kid first to see how he was before she started. He was scared and cried the entire time but she was so accommodating and very friendly. I highly recommend making an appointment with her! I will be back! read more

It has been 8 years since I have stepped foot in here due to a bad experience when my older son was little. My now almost 2 year old needed a haircut and this was the only place that had an available appointment. I was a bit hesitant just because I had a bad experience a long time ago but today was wonderful. I unfortunately didn't catch the name of the girl who cut my sons hair but she did such a great job and was so friendly and kind. I think it has changed my mind about this place and we will be back:) read more

We've been taking my son here for a couple years now. They always do a great job. The first couple times we took my son here, He completely freaked out and cried through the entire haircut. They did a fantastic job and got him over his fear of his haircut. Now he loves going in there to see all the monkeys on the walls. Tara is fantastic with my son. She genuinely seems to care about my little guy and can make him laugh even before he sits down. He especially likes the suckers at the end. read more

Will not be returning. I scheduled an appointment for my daughter to get her haircut. I figured I'd spend the extra money for the "experience" and also keeping in mind this place typically cuts specifically children's hair so I was going in expecting a friendly professional. Definitely not. Did she cut my daughters hair how I asked? Yes. Does it look good? Yes? However, Carmela put no effort in trying to make my daughters experience comfortable or even at least seem the slightest friendly towards her and constantly asked to keep her head still. (I do not mind helping but she was not even trying to work with my daughter and almost seemed annoyed to do the cut before she even started it.) overall I will not return and will be in the market for a new FRIENDLY stylist that my daughter will enjoy visiting. read more

Stopped by while we were at the mall for a haircut for my son. I was told the soonest appointment was 2 hours away which was fine since we had some shopping to do. At first it was all around a great experience, my 13 month old has been getting his hair cut since he was 7 months so he's pretty use to the sounds and buzz noises. I did ask for a 1 on his hair and he was calm for the cut UP UNTIL the woman who cut his hair nipped his ear. He started crying and she didn't even realize it. I had to tell her she cut him, he did start bleeding right away, she ran and got him Neosporin. She did apologize a few times and crossed out the portion of the "tip" on the receipt. In the end I wouldn't return to this location for a cut. I hope my son isn't afraid from now on due to the woman cutting his ear. read more

Great place friendly staff and accommodating. Nice haircut on my toddler. Took him here for his first cut at 13 months and a new cut at his 18 months. He was moving around alot & the stylist was still able to get a nice cut read more

I come with Sylvia , she's sooo fast and really good with children haircuts!! She cuts my son's hair in literally 7mins .. he's 13 months .. it's such a cute fade and really nice ! Don't do walk ins... don't be late for appts .. book on Vargaro and very easy to be seen:) read more

Absolutely unprofessional. No clear communication or consistency between their employees. Traveled in person earlier in the week to book the appt for hair straightening. Showed up today and the lady who checked us in stated they did not do that service. She worked there for 5 years and never had done it. Mind you I have taken my daughter there over 10 times to get her hair straightened, so it was like she was calling me a liar. I mean didn't you go to cosmetology school and know how to work a straightner? Not only did she not have any clear customer service she looked like she just rolled out of bed. Will NEVER be back and do not recommend you take your kids to such a place. read more

So great for a toddler hair cut experience! I was looking for somewhere to take my one year old a couple months ago when he desperately needed a hair cut. This place was great! They were so quick, able to work with a squirmy toddler and the haircut turned out great. We have already been back once since and it was just as great. read more

I scheduled an appointment for my son's haircut who is 3 yrs old and the cashier took it upon herself to cut my sons hair disregarding the barber I chose. During his haircut my son was crying so I asked her to stop for a second so I can calm him down, the first time she said yea ok then the second time she got annoyed about it and told me if I keep stopping she's not going to finish. Right there showed me the lack of patience this employee had doing this job. She shouldn't even be cutting kids hair really rough to begin with so I do recommend if you do come here to verify if the correct barber will be cutting your hair and not a 5 minute rent-a-barber read more

Monkey Dooz - Good hairstylist for the kids . - Kids Hair Salons Near Me - Riverside, California

Monkey Dooz met all my son's needs to keep him entertained during his haircut. Carmen was awesome. It's really hard to find someone who's great with kids during their haircut even at a place strictly for kids. She was patient and talkative with him which made him super comfortable. No fuss, no issues, she was quick yet did a perfect job with his cut! I will be asking for her again when I go back! read more

First time giving my little guy a hair cut and the experience was wonderful. The girl that cut my sons hair did a great job and was very patient. Environment was well... "if your have kids you know the screams and tears" of not wanting to have your hair touched. Overall seems like every hairdresser was patient with all the kids. They had stuff animals on the side while you wait or use to have your kids play while getting a hair cut. Chairs that looks like cars and airplanes. And small TVs on each chair to have kids watch while they experience there hair cut. I don't think the channel can be changed since all the TV was stuck on the Disney channel. It's defiantly an inviting place to take your kids for a haircut. At the end too they give you a lollipop so yay for kids that love candy. However I wound recommend sugar free ones for the itty bitty babies. Cost for a hair cut is pricey so be prepared but hey it's the experience you pay for. If you pay and extra $2 you get a certificate and lock of hair for your very first haircut. Cons: I think one of the reviewers was right about the cleanliness of the place. I think they can do a better job of cleaning there chairs. I understand they are very busy but they can use alittle TLC especially when there is a slot fo kids. When I go there the girl did clean up but it was very brief so I had to tell her twice and to get in the nooks and cranny of things. Was the after result a great one... no not really because I think she could of still tidy up a bit more...and I understand it's hair but hair is also dirty and most Salon I got to really clean their stuff. Hair cut: although it was cute and nice the way I wanted it , she did nic my babies neck and the cut was pretty deep. I get that kids move a lot but man when you have my help my kiddo shouldn't be cut. She did put Vaseline after I asked her and apologized but my poor little man... To be honest IMO I don't think I would be back. Although the service was great base on the cleanliness of the chairs I think I'm gonna try and different place. But thank you for the first experience. read more

We had an amazing experience with Tara on our sons first hair cut. It was very busy but the turn around was quick and only waited for 15min on a busy Saturday afternoon. I have been to this place many times, and have always had a great experience. My daughter was always nervous before haircuts, but the people here are so friendly, so reassuring that when it's time for a haircut, she's excited instead of freaked out. I love the set up- your child can pick the vehicle they would like to sit in and the movie or show they would like to see. After the haircut is over, they get asked if they want glitter in their hair (which for a kid is like...Heaven!). This is definitely my go-to kids haircut place! read more

What a great experience we had today at Monkey Dooz with Kassie! My two year old son usually does not do well with haircuts but Kassie was so fun and engaging! She talked to my son through the whole process, telling him where she was going, what she was doing, how much longer it would take and she even made car noises with him while he pretended to drive in the red car seat! It was actually much more relaxing than I could have ever imagined, I got to sit down and watch her cut his hair instead of having to sit him on my lap and hold him down. This place saved us after a home COVID haircut gave my toddler the worst bowl cut right before a planned vacation. The cut is not cheap but having tried using a regular stylist it is with it. They did a great job here at Monkey Dooz, patient with my infant and pretty fast too! Definitely recommend for little ones.

My son, who has Autism and Down Syndrome, received his third haircut from this location. His third haircut in 9 years and all three have been from here! That alone tells you how much he hates it and how much I need to prep him. Thank heavens for his curly hair because I used to cut it, one snip at a time, while he was in the bath. The lack of accuracy was hidden by his curls. Still, I wanted him to have a good cut so I tried this place. They are AMAZING! They encouraged him, spent the time it was needed throughout to give him moments to himself, and would put the clippers on his arm so he could get used to the feeling. Today was no exception. My son even walked into the salon without needing prodding. He smiled and sat for Sylvia the entire time. For some, knowing your child can sit still for a cut is a nice bonus. For me, this made my month. read more

My son is just shy of 3 years and came today for his very first haircut! To be completely honest, I was probably a million times more nervous than he was. I had my appointment booked with Sylvia at 1 and showed up early to get my son comfortable with the environment. He immediately showed interest in their little car and airplane seats! It wasn't overwhelmingly busy at all for a weekend. We waited maybe 15 minutes and even got seen a little earlier than the scheduled appointment time. I was so surprised at the way he allowed Sylvia to put the cover on him and knew he was comfortable. He sat through the entire undercut and taper process with no tears whatsoever! She got him comfortable to the clippers and he let her give him an amazing haircut! The entire process was fantastic and I definitely recommend Sylvia. I know we will be back for his clean ups! I've been here three times . Each time the hair cut is worse. I don't understand why . My son doesn't move, he's 5 so he is still when they it his hair. Yet every time they seem to do a worse job. This third time was the last for me. They don't know what feathering is either. And even though I told them to not round off the hair cut, they always do... So frustrating because I really wanted to like them! All three times I had a different stylist so I don't even know what to say... All three times I told them to keep it longer than the last but it always ends up too short. It's a boys haircut, how hard could it be!!!!? read more

I'd like to add another star from my previous review. I came here again with my son a few weeks ago. I tried to cut his hair at home, and lucky me, I gave him a botched hair job because I should have known how wiggly a 4 year old is. So, the next day I came to Monkey Dooz, hoping they could fix the bald spot I gave him since his birthday party was next week. I can't remember the stylist we saw, but she was awesome! She fixed my son's hair by giving him a fade and blending the bald spot in. THANK GOODNESS! She saved my son's hair and his birthday pictures =) Each time I've come here, my son and I have had a great experience. His favorite is the airplane seat and lollipops, not to mention the cartoons. Thanks again Monkey Dooz! read more
