They gave excellent recommendations, checked in at all the right times without ever making us feel rushed, and brought such genuine, upbeat energy to the table. You can tell they truly care about making guests feel welcomed and taken care of. The food and atmosphere at Buddakan were already incredible, but Anja and Beau elevated the entire evening. If you're dining at Buddakan, ask for Anja and Beau if you can--you'll be in the best hands. Easily some of the best service I've had in New York. 10/10.

They made sure we were comfortable and well taken care of throughout our entire visit, and their energy was amazing. They even surprised my boyfriend with a little birthday treat, which was such a thoughtful and sweet gesture. We appreciated it more than they probably realize, and it made his birthday feel extra special. Thank you, Anja and Beau, for making our experience so wonderful! You both deserve all the recognition, and we'll definitely remember the kindness you showed us. We'll definitely be back for them!

We went a second time because our first experience was so good that we wanted to try their other dishes, and now after the second time, we can't wait to return for a third. We definitely need to return with a bigger group the next time we go so that we can try more of their dishes! Our second time there, we had the "Night Market Chow Fun" and the "Chongqing Braised Beef." Both were excellent! Probably my favorite Chow fun now and the Chongqing braised beef was so tender and had all the szechuan tingly spices that open up your taste buds and sensories. We LOVED both dishes. It had the 3 chili pepper sign and the server warned us that it was very spicy, and IT WAS -- in all the good ways. May not be for the faint, though, so be careful. Not sure if they can adjust the spiciness. We enjoy their "film set" ambiance, giving it a cooler dining experience than your normal authentic casual space -- adds some flare for a date night or for friends. MUST RETURN FOR MORE!

Solid place to try out if you are in the mood for chinese food!

Stumbled across this Indo- Chinese fusion restaurant while heading west. The restaurant was…read morerelatively empty for lunch. Most of the patrons were South Asian. The staff were very nice. They have a great lunch special. My wife and I both ordered thali. She got chicken tikka masala and I got rogan josh. They were accompanied by rice, three vegetables, a samosa, papadum and hot naan. Everything was excellent. Great deal for lunch and would definitely come back for dinner to try the more Chinese leaning part of the menu.

When we were looking at the menu, we literally had to use the flashlight on our phones to see what we were ordering, which was kind of funny. We ordered a bunch of different appetizers to share, including samosas, garlic naan, chicken bites, and a few other things. For our main dishes, most people went with the usual Indian dishes like chicken tikka masala, while I ordered the salmon. I wish it came with its own rice bowl but that's something you need to order separately. Overall, I thought the food was ok, but honestly nothing blew me away. I think it's a decent spot for a work dinner, especially if you want somewhere that's not super loud and you can actually have a conversation. The restaurant isn't usually full either so I anticipate you can just do walk ins.

I have been a returning customer at your restaurant and have always enjoyed both the food and the…read moreservice in the past. However, during my most recent visit, I experienced several significant issues regarding service clarity, safety, and customer support. Previously, staff prepared and grilled the meat at the table. On recent visits, the service model shifted to self-service without clear communication to guests. During my latest meal, after waiting without guidance, I began grilling the meat myself, only for a staff member to step in midway through. Subsequently, staff placed food on the grill but left it unattended for extended periods, causing it to smoke heavily. Shortly after, a severe flare-up occurred when grease caused large flames and heavy smoke to erupt from the grill, splattering hot grease onto me. Three staff members responded, and when one opened the cabinet beneath the table, a cloud of trapped smoke escaped into the dining room. Rather than addressing the hazard, staff inaccurately accused me of pouring oil onto the grill. The smoke eventually triggered the building's fire alarm, resulting in the response of the FDNY and prematurely ending our meal. When I raised these concerns with the manager, the only resolution offered was a $4 discount on the bill. Given the physical hazard, poor communication, and inappropriate handling of the situation by the staff, this response was deeply disappointing. I hope management takes these safety and service concerns seriously to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Orders are one per person and must be dine in only. Time frame for deal is 12pm-4pm. Happened to be in K-town and was looking for something on the lighter side to eat & saw the ad on the window. I was seated at the front of the restaurant and ordered. The noodles come with a side of daikon radish and kimchi. Noodles are not a heavy meal, it won't leave you completely full, but that's just what I wanted. Ensure you mix the sauce and noodles well to get flavor and add the side dishes and it was good. This is a great deal. There is also a full menu of other items as well. Make sure you tip the staff. They were quite attentive. Cash for this deal only.

We walked into a casual space with a mix of indoor and outdoor seating, the kind of place that works as a convenient spot for a relaxed meal, especially if you are looking for a late-night option in the area. The dining room had a practical, laid-back energy with a layout that accommodated both small groups and larger parties, and the outdoor seating added a nice touch when the weather was comfortable, giving the restaurant a more lively neighborhood feel. The menu covers many of the classic dishes you would expect from this style of restaurant. We ordered a few items and found the jjajangmyun and jjampong popular choices, offering the combination of noodles, rich sauces, and bold flavors that make these dishes so comforting. The jjajangmyun had a savory black bean sauce that coated the noodles evenly, and the jjampong brought a spicy, seafood-forward broth that warmed the palate. Portions were generous, and the food came out hot and quickly, making it a solid option when we were craving Korean-Chinese food. While the flavors were enjoyable and satisfying, the dishes were more about comfort and familiarity rather than being something that stood out as exceptional. The restaurant also had a good variety of other options including dumplings, tangsuyuk, bibimbap, japchae, and a selection of drinks, with the tangsuyuk offering a crispy exterior and a sweet and sour sauce that added a nice contrast to the noodle dishes. The service was efficient and the atmosphere had a casual, laid-back feel. The location made it a convenient choice when other restaurants in Koreatown were busy or when we were looking for somewhere open later. The outdoor seating gave the restaurant a more open, neighborhood feel, and the staff moved through the room with efficiency, keeping the pacing of the meal comfortable. Overall, Shanghai Mong is a decent spot for Korean-Chinese comfort food. It may not be the place we would go specifically for the best version of these dishes, but it delivers satisfying portions, quick service, and a convenient location. If you are in the mood for jjajangmyun, jjampong, or a late-night meal in Koreatown, it is a reliable option.
