Dr. Lo didn't even use the right tool to look at what was wrong with my eyes. He only used the irrigation needle to see if it was draining. But he didn't even use the dye and check to see if tear ducts are draining. If he did, he would have saw that nothing came through and mg tear duct narrowed. Thus, it was either he didn't care enough or he doesn't even have the right equipments. In that case, he should have never accepted my consultation and my consultation fee of $300! Because I clearly told them that i have tearing issue from the start. Thinking about this makes me so mad.

I cannot recommend this practice based on my experience…read more During my last visit, the physician did not perform an eye examination. A technician performed retinal imaging and a vision test and told me there were no changes from my previous visit, when I had been examined by a reputable retina specialist who no longer works at this practice. I was not examined by the physician, Dr. Benjamin, who was on site that day. Afterward, I obtained my medical record and found multiple diagnoses that are incorrect and would require an eye examination to diagnose. The chart also documented symptoms and conditions that I did not have. What alarmed me most was that I was provided with a tear duct scan that did not belong to me. The scan was timestamped after I had already left the office, and the patient's name appeared to be handwritten rather than printed by the imaging system. This raised serious concerns for me about the practice's recordkeeping, patient privacy, and the accuracy of my own medical record. The practice also refuses to produce the native imaging with patient PII embedded in the images.

Dr. Kandavel did a phenomenal job with my cataract surgery!…read more I had a complicated case: a very very dense, fibrotic cataract; a long axial length; and a small pupil. I was completely blind in one eye and had severe anxiety about the surgery, the possible complications, and wait times. Dr. Kandavel took my super emo, erratic behavior in stride and gave me an excellent outcome. I have sharp, clear vision with 0 complications. In fact, my vision is better than we both expected; I have 20/20 vision and can still read items on my cell phone. I had no pain or blurring after surgery, which is unusual since I experienced both during cataract surgery on my other eye (performed by a different surgeon). Even though he's an in demand surgeon, Dr. Kandavel has zero ego. He is as humble as can be. I'm sure my armchair expert attitude drove him batty, but he was very diplomatic, never condescending, and always sought to explain things for greater clarity. He asks questions and actually listens! He cares for his patients and how they feel and checks in with you to see how you are. Most people don't know this, but Dr. Kandavel's first name is Ganesha. In Hindu mythology, Ganesha is the remover of obstacles, bringer of good luck, and the God of new beginnings. Dr. Kandavel is the perfect embodiment of his name. The doctor knew I was working out with heavy weights - we had discussed it when I had my cataract surgery. He asked me if I was working out with heavy weights. I told him I was. As I am getting older I am trying to maintain my muscle mass. He told be to stop. I questioned his idea of lifting light weights for many reps. I told him that current studies said that was a waste of time. This is when he became nasty. "I obviously don't know what I'm talking about. I've only been doing this for 30 years." Ironically I injured my bicep just after that and had to take two months off from weight lifting and my eye didn't improve. I changed ophthalmologists. I went to see an associate at Dr. Colvard-Kandavel's office. A large, well run office. The doctor I saw there, as well as Dr. Colvard, said my weight lifting had nothing to do with it.

When the imaging center was being difficult scheduling my MRI, Dr. Ghiam's office immediately got me in elsewhere. He referred me to a fantastic neurosurgeon at Cedars after my results were in. The neurosurgeon's office literally called me to schedule five minutes after I got off the phone with Dr. Ghiam telling me he referred me. His front desk is so helpful and quick in responding to all my needs and questions. Incredible doctor, incredible practice.
