He built out a full basement for us which included bedroom, bathroom, laundry room, utility room, closets and even a real cedar closet with actual cedar planks including the ceiling. He has replaced every window in the house with Andersen windows and even added French doors, sliding doors and a box window. He changed every door in the house to solid six panel doors and assisted in the family room and office built in by installing them. He build the most incredible custom walk in closet converting a bedroom into a spectacular use of space. He has renovated 3 bathrooms and kept them updated as needed most recently replacing a honed marble threshold in the shower and reinstalling the custom glass doors. The most recent improvement was the replacement of our gas water heaters since the old ones were starting to leak. He not only upgraded what we had, had the new ones delivered and installed all in one day in order to get us back up and running with little inconvenience. He has installed whole house water filtration, added instant hot and a garbage disposal making sure we have all the modern conveniences a home should have. He treats our home as if it is his own. On a personal note he has seen my children grow up and we have seen his son join his business and grow and learn from the best. Tony and the Functional Spaces team worked with me to completely gut and renovate an entire house…read more We removed and installed new walls, steel beams were installed, 3 complete bathroom were redone, a full kitchen renovation, a bedroom was turned into the main walk in closet with custom built ins, new AC, new heated engineered wood floors, a full redo of the electrical system and lighting plan for the entire house, new staircase, windows and siding plus so much more was done to make this home stunning! The team worked seamlessly with the architect and the inspectors to make sure the permits were all in place. Tony was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. He was patient in answering my numerous questions and concerns along the way. Gus (the main carpenter) was incredible in installing custom built in shelves in various areas. He is a true artist!! The whole team of guys were pleasant and knowledgeable and fun to work with. I actually missed seeing them everyday when the house was complete! When my husband and I first started discussing expanding our house in 2020 we were not sure who to contact. I saw a number of houses in our neighborhood with. Murphy Construction sign so decided to give a call. Skip called me back within 24 hours and was over a few days later to speak about what we would like done. He was very honest in terms of the cost of the extension as well as the time frame on when he could start work (we expected a wait time since everyone is redoing their house right now!). He was true to his word on both which we were very thankful for. We we're also extremely thankful that Skip and team were understanding when we said we had a baby on the way to ensure everything was done prior to his arrival (which it was - HUGE THANK YOU!). In terms of work, Skip, Marvin and his team demolished our sunroom and previous bathroom and added on a new hallway, linen closets, bathroom, additional bedroom and family room. They also redid our floors upstairs, finished the attic, provided new windows in a previous bedroom, installed wall air conditioners in 4 rooms and created a covered patio area outside off of our new family room. Our smallish 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom house has truly been transformed into something we couldn't imagine. We are beyond happy with the way everything turned out and could not be more thankful. The whole team was extremely courteous, kind and responsive. My husband and I both work from home so we literally were around to watch the house transform around us. The team showed up diligently on time, every single day and quickly and efficiently worked to get the job done with a few short months. We even made some changes as work was progressing and they were more than accommodating to ensure the job was done to our liking and to what we wanted. Laura, one of Skips office managers was also wonderful in ensuring any extras we added on our changes were relayed to Skip and team. Overall, the whole process was seamless and we fully recommend them to anyone who is looking to remodel. All of the sub-contractors (plumber, electrician, tile, floor, foundation, etc) they used were also truly wonderful so it was comforting to know that we had people we could trust at our house. We will definitely be using Murphy construction in the future when it comes time to redo our kitchen :) To say we're beyond happy is an understatement !!
