The ice cream from Big Dipper is just fine. There is nothing wrong about it, it's just... average…read more It feels like the same ice cream that you could get from any other location. The inside of Big Dipper is also alright. It's a little small, but that doesn't matter, because you will only be going inside for ordering. Eating takes place outside on wooden picnic tables that aren't in the best condition, but are still serviceable. Because Big Dipper is located right next to a busy highway and we live in a country obsessed with cars, eating outside is kind of loud. It's not too bad, but still not the best experience.

I grew up in Kalamazoo until I moved away at 25 years old, and though I knew of this store, I don't…read moreremember ever going into it before I moved. I very well may have as a child but wouldn't remember. Once I moved, going home came a very big deal to me and embraced Michigan, and more importantly, Kalamazoo became so much of a bigger deal to me. Each time I have been home since 2007, I have stopped into The Spirit of Kalamazoo to check out what new items they may have that I feel I "need." I have gotten things over the years that now I wished I got two of, specially the "Just Another Animal in the Zoo" cup that I bought in pink, but broke and I cannot find anywhere online to replace. The store has lots of odds and end art pieces from local artist, some of which I pick up as I go for when I can make an amazing room filled with things from home and sports, especially since I am a die hard Michigan sports fan. The staff are always friendly and helpful but also let you shop without hovering over you. I am very glad that I can help this local business each time I am home, as it has become part of my journey now.

The ice cream itself is incredible, with a wide variety of flavors that taste so fresh and creamy. The pricing is super reasonable and won't break your wallet, which makes it an easy stop for families or anyone looking for a sweet treat. If you're in Paw Paw or just passing through, The Scoop Shop is a must-visit!
