This review is not about Dr. Shah. It is about the LYNWOOD location she practices at and only the front desk staff member Kendra. My husband recently had major surgery and was referred for a procedure with Dr. Shah. He was unable to make the call himself, so I called to make the appointment for him, with him on the line. Kendra answered and it was disgusting how rude she was. My husband verified his identity and gave verbal consent for me to set the appointment for him. Kendra cut me off every time I spoke and would only speak to my husband, not to me. I asked for the address, because my husband was under the influence of prescribed medication and Kendra refused to give me that information, which is not even private. It is an embarrassment to the office and doctor how ignorant and unprofessional Kendra is and the lack of communication skills she has for a job working directly with the public. Kendra has no respect for patients and her attitude is gross. Kendra: under HIPAA, an authorized personal representative has the same rights as the patient to access Protected Health Information. I am an authorized personal representative and your nasty attitude saved us from a visit there and probably more undeserved mistreatment. Potential patients, I would definitely recommend looking for another provider. The front desk staff usually gives you an idea of how your experience and care will be. It's so sad that such a great doctor is represented with such a poor front office staff. No one ever answers the phone; no one returns calls in a timely matter. If Dr Shah is referring me to specific doctor those orders should be faxed to said Dr in a timely manner.I shouldn't have to call over and over to have my records sent. The front desk staff , when I ask a question they always respond rudely to me with an attitude and make me feel like I was nothing especially front staff Maria. The absolute worst medical experience that I have ever had to endure! This woman is so unbelievably unprofessional that, I am dumbfounded how she is still in practice???? Her bedside manner is atrocious and she belittles her patients at every opportunity. She does not return calls and doesn't seem to be truly interested in their wellbeing. She charges your medical and or Medicare for treatments that the patient has never received. When you go to your doctors appointment, you will wait a min 1 hour to be seen. She will waste your time and when you call her out on it, her famous reply is......... "well Do you have somewhere else better you need to be?" Why yes I do. I have a life other than sitting in your waiting room waiting for you! Absolutely despicable to treat humans this way, especially when we pay for your life and your practice. Dr. Shah's facility rivals full hospital services! Three office managers on the front desk keep appointments moving in promptly. Lexus checks vitals; Meegan recorded notes; Pamela did the Ultrasound, and Lexus did the blood test and EKG. Those needing testing receive top service: a skilled team of seven use advanced instrumentation. Dr. Shaw's concern for the patient is tops. My wife and I just visited the office where she received a blood test, EKG(heart) and Ultrasound(lung/organs). Instruments are tied to their computer system for follow-up. Dr. Mona Shah is to be commended on building such a great medical team and office! I was assigned this doctors office by Medi-Cal insurance. It's ironic that they claim to do chronic illness management, but that is the farthest thing from the truth. They have absolutely no understanding of chronic illnesses. I was assigned physicians assistant Kimberly Hua within this office. She had no understanding of my sleeping disorders and abruptly took me off of the sleeping pill that I had been on for many years, and desperately needed to be able to have basic function in life. She didn't even wean me off of it slowly, she just abruptly stopped it and it triggered an even worse new sleeping disorder. When I found my next doctor, he was appalled that she had forced me off of a medication that was working so well for me for so long at a stable dose, and done permanent damage to me. My new doctor had to not only put me back on the original sleeping pill but raise the dosage incrementallu, higher and higher until we could get me stable again so I could regain the ability to sleep, and to be awake, to bathe, and be able to do basic functions like prepare food for myself instead of languishing in bed in a state of misery, unable to care for myself. My née doctor had to compensate for the newest sleeping disorder that was triggered by Kimberly Hua taking me off of my sleeping pill. I was stable for MANY YEARS on 1.5 mg of my sleeper, and after she abruptly stop the medication I needed, I developed Irregular sleep wake rhythm disorder, which was terrible. I was never awake and never sleep and always in a state of being half awake and half asleep. I couldn't drive I couldn't function or do anything to try to find a new doctor. It was a brutal time. My new doctor had to put me back on that 1.5 mg and keep on increasing it a little at a time ntil we found a dosage that could control the irregular sleep wake rhythm that she triggered- and I now I'm stuck taking a much higher dose of 4 mg instead of 1.5 mg, due to the newest and worse sleeping disorder. I never would've had to go up so much if it wasn't for her taking me off of the 1.5mg so quickly, instead of slowly weaning me down. read more

Half the time you are connected with the answering service and never get a call back. Have to call several times a day to remind them you have called several times. Very unprofessional. I've been a patient of Dr Shah for many years. She is a very good doctor. She is thorough and considerate and takes good care of my health. Her office team has improved over the years, so it's pretty easy to get medication refills approved. And I never have to wait a horrible time to make an appointment. I try to make my appointments for the morning hours, and I don't usually have much office wait time either. But I still feel she takes her time with me. My husband recently switched doctors to start seeing one of the male doctors with this group too. The one thing, I've found her specialist referrals to be only so-so. Over the decade plus I've really only liked one, and thought the others were just ok, and I Didn't even want to make an appointment with the last one. So if you need a referral, discuss options with her first. Her office has a lot of equipment on site like X-ray, so that's convenient too. read more

I am appalled that this woman is able to still practice medicine! My mother came home in tears after seeing her for the first, and only time. She was verbally abusive, combative, condescending, hurtful and just plain rude. She scolded my mother for another doctor's mistake and wanted to change ALL of her medications at once. Good doctors practice with compassion and NEVER change everything all at once because you will never know what works and what doesn't that way. Not to mention the side effects of not properly titrating off of certain meds. I have never in my life heard of a doctor treating patients like this. If she wanted to be abused she would go to the boxing ring, not the doctor! Dr Sliskovich, please rethink this partnership! You are a good man with a good heart and she is ruining your practice! Definitely not a review for Dr. Shah but the office. Nice and short:it's a disaster. My family member works in the ED. We asked for documentation stating that due to his age and comorbidities, they should recommend he be moved or temporary not work. The practice manager, which I assume is Dr. Shah's husband, rudely called me back 3 days later asking why I needed the paper and state she was too busy to get that done. I explained to him that I called 3 days ago and he said if I wanted to I could take my family member elsewhere. And I did. Will be reporting it to Insurance. I understand we're under so much stress but that was u acceptable. 3 days of my dad being exposed. He had time. They chose not to either relay the message or took his time to get back to me. PATIENTS BEWARE!!! I scheduled an annual physical at this office. The facilities are nice, but unfortunately this gives an undeserved feeling of comfort. I never met with a doctor, and was only seen by a PA and a nurse. The PA was a young lady who was clearly out of her depth. She was nervous and wasn't confident about anything she said. I should have listened to myself and left at that point, but I don't have a lot of time for doctor's visits and I just wanted to get my check up and be done. I also requested blood tests to check my cholesterol. This was scheduled for the next morning. What I wasn't told was that they ordered a ton of tests I didn't ask for, some of which were not covered by my insurance. So with a platinum plan that covers everything I was stuck with a $580 lab bill for tests that were unnecessary. I went into the office thinking this would easily be resolved. Unfortunately, I was met by a portly man who identified himself as a decision maker who promptly laid the blame at my feet for not calling the insurance company myself on tests they never told me would be requested. When I asked him if he felt any responsibility for his patients costs he said he slept well at night doing business this way. I was met by another patient in the parking lot, who shared a similar experience. THIS IS HOW THEY OPERATE. THEY CARE ABOUT YOUR MONEY WAY MORE THAN BEING TRANSPARENT WITH THEIR PATIENTS. read more

A few of the front desk staff and the staff over the phone are super unprofessional, immature and rude. This is the location at 1366 7th Ave in San Pedro. Especially the gentleman that works there. They intentionally screen the calls by looking at the caller ID and either don't answer the phone or immediately place you on hold and never come to the line. Yesterday I called and was immediately placed on hold (this is the 3rd time that has happened). I used my husband cell phone and the jerk answered the phone in Spanish. Once he realized it was not a Spanish caller he stated, "oh, I thought you speak Spanish". What kind of racist nonsense is that? There's no point in filing an office complaint because the "office manager" doesn't return the calls or never receives the message. I was contacting my doctor for an urgent situation and was told that I have an appointment with her in a week. I had to visit another doctor to take care of a situation that could have caused a stroke. I will figure out how to file an official complaint outside of their office. The only reason that I go here is because my doctor of 25 years moved here. DO NOT GO HERE!!! read more

I don't even know where to start!!! The office staff is absolutely rude to patients and their family members as well as Dr. Mona Shaw! If you ask simple questions regarding anything they blow up at you and treat you like animals. I thought it was their job to answer questions regarding health issues. Dr. Shaw has refused to return any call for years now, even when the patient was hospitalized, she has no concern or regard for her patients and their family members. She is only concerned with making money off the patients by billing their insurance. She and her staff get offended when you ask any questions whatsoever, they take it as if you are questioning them as medical professionals, which is not the case at all. My family and I have had nothing but grief since Dr. Mona Shaw has been my mother's primary caregiver. As of today I was notified that the doctor has resigned as my mother's primary medical doctor for no reason what so ever and has left me and my family scrambling to find another primary care doctor during a pandemic. Absolutely no consideration for her patient who is suffering with pneumonia as we speak. How can anyone treat their patient this way. I was placed under this office's care due to a mistake when my doctor's office merged with hers. I did not know that I was scheduled with her until I came to my appt expecting to see my original doctor. My first encounter was fine but every encounter following was a nightmare. I had urgent questions and lab work that needed to be addressed and I was left hanging on every occasion. Messages left requesting for specialists were gone for no explainable reason (even though I did my due diligence and recalled the office to make sure my message were received twice). On another occasion I was told to call in two days after my labs to get results that was time sensitive. I called backed in two days in the morning and was told the results came in last night but the doctor will give me a call back later today to give me the results. No phone call the whole day. I call back around 4:30pm and was told she's not even in the office. And then the staff tried to blame shift and asked me when did I even get my labs done because it usually takes a week to get results. I stopped her in her tracks immediately and told her that someone already told me the results are already ready. Reconsider before booking an appointment at this office, office staff are rude and will not put in any extra effort to make their patients' lives any easier. read more

I would always come to monthly appointments simply for a rx refill for meds i had been on since middle school and she insisted on seeing me monthly to write this rx, which is annoying, but i understand. Anyways, i would always show up on time and would be forced to wait in the lobby for at least a half hour and then in the room anywhere from a half hour to an hour before seeing Dr. Shaw. The final time I went after waiting over an hour in the exam room i stuck my head out to ask if I'd be seen soon and was yelled at by dr. Shaw with things I would never say to anyone in a professional setting. I couldn't even believe what came out of her mouth. Went in there today to get a doctors note I can go back to school from my car accident and she said that she couldn't cause my wounds from my car accident look like I was picking at them and she thought I was doing meth which I've never done meth in my life and I told her to drug test me. Doctor Mona Shah is the best Doctor that I have ever had I love her bedside manner she is well educated contrary to what other people might think she listens and is concern about her patients just the time I have spent at that office I have never seen anything negative about the staff. Some patients might come in without a appointment and think that just because they are sick they deserve special privilege I never seen the staff turn a patient away they might half to wait longer because they did not have a scheduled appointment but they still get seen providing that someone has cancel their appointment or if there is not a over load on her schedule and offer if you would like to see another doctor but still get seen by the Doctor. Some Doctors don't get the credit that they deserve even though they make a difference is the world. read more
