What a startlingly abrupt and unpleasant experience I just had with Dr. Mellor's office! I called to establish care with her as a primary care physician since I'm new to the area, but when I began explaining my interest in scheduling an appointment I was met with a "LET ME STOP YOU THERE" interrupting me mid sentence. This was such a jarring and rude experience, I have never had someone treat me this poorly from a doctor's office. It was shocking. I don't even have an ailment, I'm simply shopping around to find a new doctor. I guess some of her patients have to die before this doctor would consider allowing anyone to book an appointment. Wow. Just go somewhere else for care like I'm going to, don't bother calling. read more

BE SUPER AWARE when you go to this Dr. If there was a 0 star catergory I would chose it. I went to see her to check my hormones as I felt like I was going through Menopause. She ordered a blood test and when I went in to get the results, she told me very coldly that I had a brain tumor. She said she would get me set up with a MRI, but that I DEFINITELY had one. She left the room quickly and I had to chase her down to ask her if the results could mean anything else. She said Emphatically..."NO". I went home crying and very scared. The MRI was scheduled but it was not for a few weeks. I couldnt wait so I took my blood test to a Endocronologist who took one look at my blood work and said "You don't have a brain tumor, you are in Menopause!" I felt such relief, but still had the MRI just in case. The test confirmed I did NOT have a tumor. I was relieved but very very mad at the false diagnosis and the lack of empathy Dr. Mallor showed when delivering the news. read more

Dr. Anna Mellor has been my general practitioner and my daughters for many years, and we couldn't be more appreciative for her tender loving and thorough care. As our health issues arise, Dr. Mellor is a great listener, communicator, and health advocate. Not only is Dr. Mellor and exceptional doctor, but her whole staff is professional and organized. Alexzandria was efficient and helpful with forms and records we needed , and nurse practitioner, Leah Robinson, has a gentle demeanor and is also a great listener. What a great primary care doctor! As a cancer surgeon and specialist, I personally have been working with her for more than 6 years. Her patients love her caring manner and the attention she gives them. When I see her patients, they are worked up thoroughly and properly. She refers patients to specialists when they need it and and never hesitates to call me with questions. The best part is that she follows up on her patients. Always an Uncomfortable Experience Although I have stayed loyal to the same doctor, in the past four years, they have moved twice. They are now off of the main drag, yet distant from their original location at the Little Company of Mary. Parking is FREE (the one star), but can take you up to 20 minutes to find a spot. I have never felt welcome here. The minute I walk into the waiting room, I feel like it's a cattle call. It's a large, unfriendly waiting room assigned to ten doctors, a number of their nurses, and staff. I usually arrive 10-15 minutes before my appointment and check-in with the desk immediately. However, I have never been called in on time. It is always another 15 minutes after my appointment time before they call me in. Once (and only once), I arrived 10 minutes late. I got a mean stare by the front desk. The lady behind the counter lifted an eyebrow and said," Do you know when your appointment is? You're late." However, it took them another 10 minutes before they called me. (Good grief!) Once inside, Dr. Mellor and her staff never remember me. The staff will ask questions like, what are you here for? (Even, if I were just there the week prior and she had asked me to make an appointment for a follow-up.) The nurse or aid will take my weight, temp, heart rate, etc. Then, it will take Dr. Mellor another 10-20 minutes before she enters my room. (At that point, I don't even remember why I'm there.) Dr. Mellor doesn't have an email address. All phone calls are filtered through a number of people (South Bay group first, then routed to Dr. Mellor's nurse) before you can get a question that you leave with the nurse or her answering machine, which will be in turn be forwarded to Dr. Mellor. Then, at her convenience, she will have someone call you with answer to your question. A reply will be given 2-48 hrs. Making an appointment is another ordeal. One plus months is usually the first available. Recently, I had some pain and requested for a same-day appointment. I couldn't get a hold of someone the first call at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. So, I called again an hour later and was able to speak to Dr. Mellor's nurse. She (the nurse) told me that I should go to the E.R. (Yes, she directed me to the ER!!!) I trustingly obliged, only to feel crushed when the E.R. doctor tells me that I'm young, healthy, and OK. I just had heartburn and my "regular" doctor could have handled it. Anyhow, that's it! I could expect this service, if I were on an HMO plan. However, as PPO member, obviously this isn't doing it for me. So, I'm in the market for a new doctor. read more

I never write reviews, but... I was referred with raving reviews to Dr Mellor by one of her patients. I checked Yelp and read the reviews and shared with my friend. She said 'yes' there is always a wait and 'yes' the front office staff are not friendly, but the Doctor is great. So I cautiously proceeded. I sent an online request for an appointment, but never heard back. A week later I called and left a message requesting an appointment, never heard back. A week later, I called and going through all the 'push this button if you want..." and finally got a live person. She asked me why I was calling and then who referred me and then very briskly told me the Doctor was not accepting new patients and did I want to see a different one. NO! Can someone recommend a female internist who specializes in women's health - over 50, is in tune with alternative medicine, is part of a larger practices so most of my test can be done at one place, is in the Redondo Beach, South Bay area affiliated with Little Company of Mary Hospital? read more

There were problems with this group a few years ago when they severed ties with a medical group. The doctors had to split and move to different locations until the locations were ready. There were problems obtaining an appointment, locating medical records, etc. after moving. Too many new patients and too few doctors. That is why Dr. Mellor , and others stopped accepting new patients and added more doctors. They also changed to electronic (computer) records for each patient. I love Dr. Mellor. She is kind, caring, honest, etc. She came in before seeing patients and stayed on her lunch hour to do pre op tests on me so I could be cleared for surgery. The group has a Saturday walk in clinic for their patients, which I utilized several times. I went to the clinic a few months ago when I woke with a lump protruding from my abdomen. The clinic doctor and her assistant, who never met me, were friendly, kind, caring and excellent. I was sent to ER since they lack staff to run tests on Saturday, but the doctor phoned me early Monday morning to follow up. This is plus in my book. Front office staff is very busy and not warm and fuzzy. Parking is difficult and attributed to there being so many medical buildings ay this location. It is easier to find parking certain days and times.. Every doctor's assistant asks what I am there for even if I am there for a follow up. That is how a doctor offices work. This group does blood and other tests at this location. The techs are friendly, warm, caring, etc. I love Dr. Mellor and other group doctors I have seen. read more

Dr. Mellor is an excellent doctor. She is competent and caring. Her staff is attentive and prompt. My mom and dad have been with her for many years and as their health has declined I have become more involved and am very impressed with all aspects of her practice. Dr. Mellor has been my doctor for over 20 years. She makes time to keep informed about my family, is warm and friendly outside of the medical setting, and is a compassionate human being. I'm writing this to say her office has finally gotten it together. In the past year, things have really improved in the office. I see her within minutes of my appointment times, everyone is bright, caring, and follows through. For example, I was called back regarding lab results and I mentioned a newly developed cough. I was called back and seen a few hours later. Because of her nurse's timely relaying of my new symptoms, my pneumonia was caught quickly and is being treated. The X-ray tech, nurses, assistants, etc made me so comfortable. Within an hour, test results were in and RXs were ready for pick up. Thanks so much. BTW I have a variety of complicated health concerns and Dr. Mellor seeks out specialists who will accept my insurance and non-prescription alternatives whenever possible. She does not prescribe antibiotics for sniffles. When she tells me I need a medication, I believe her. read more

Yes it is true that we all have to wait and I had to reschedule once, but every time I see Dr. Mellor, it is always a pleasure to see her, she is courteous and kind. I also agree that the front office staff needs a little training in customer service and could crack a smile at a patient instead of laughing with their coworkers. Dr. Mellor's back staff is always very nice! I completely disagree with Anne C. life is tuff and you need to have patience, slow down and you might not have chest pains! By the way, you call any doctor's office and tell them you are having chest pains, they are going to send you to the ER! I have recommended Dr. Mellor to many of my friends! I have been a patient of Dr: Mellor for a few years and about a year ago my husband became her patient as well. I read other reviews that were negative and I disagree with them. Yes there is usually a wait to see her but I usually figure that it is part of a visit to the doctor. They work hard and there are many things that are not predictable. Her nurse is always friendly and they always return phone calls. Both my husband and I are children of physicians so we are very picky. We both feel that Dr: Mellor is competent and attentive and basically takes good care of us. read more
