My sis and I stopped here on the way to San Antonio. It is not a fancy place but the food was delicious and authentic. The tortillas were hand made and I know this for a fact because they looked like the ones my grandmas used to make and tasted just as good! Beans were fresh and the carne guisada was like my dad use to make. It was a real treat and a good find! The prices were fair and the waitresses were very sweet!! I wish them well! I was just passing thru on a road trip from California to Florida last month with my mom. We ended up in Luling for the night. The next morning we needed to find some coffee before we got back on the I-10 to head out East. I'm so happy that we found Mom's front porch. Even though with the whole Covid thing going on, we were still able to get very friendly service. Gretchen brought our drinks out to us and was so personable & friendly. She told us all about how she got started with the business, and what a great community Luling is, and all the wonderful local support she has received during the pandemic crisis. It was really nice to just visit with her as if we had known each other for years. She also has really comfy rocking chairs to sit on, & my iced latte was great! I'm obsessed with Texas & hope to live there someday. If I'm ever back in Luling, I'll be sure to visit again. read more

Quaint little nook with lots of nostalgia and hometown feel. We tried the chicken salad on someone else here's recommendation and it was so good on their homemade wheat bread- so soft. Touting a local ice creamery - we had to try the ice cream too, it was great too. Although tempting by the amazing smell - we didn't try the numerous baked items. The young woman who waited on us was charming. We had to jump off main hwy 10 but it was worth the slight detour and we were able to jump back our way to San Antonio. read more

One of my favorite places. Dine inside or on porch. Serving sizes just right. I love fried oysters over a salad. I don't drink alcohol but my friend said there is a nice choice. I haven't eaten here, so I can't say anything about that. I have gotten coffee here and it is great! I usually get an iced caramel macchiato. They use frozen coffee ice cubes, your coffee doesn't get watered down. I love the quality and they are less expensive than starbucks. read more

What a pleasant little surprise stumbling across this place on our drive from Galveston to Canyon Lake. We knew we needed to make a pit stop and grab a quick bite, and this felt more like stopping at Grandma's house than anything. The bread, oh my the bread! On my drive back to Austin from Victoria, I decided to stop for lunch, and I'm glad I did. The service here is fantastic. I was able to have a conversation with the owner and cashier about what to get, ultimately deciding on the ham salad sandwich and soup. The food was absolutely delicious and fresh! If you ever watched a Hallmark movie, this is the friendly, warm and extremely cozy restaurant that is always depicted, with one exception. All the food is prepared right there. This place was great for lunch and sweet treats. All three of our sandwiches were tasty, and even my young and picky eater gobbled hers up when we weren't looking. Staying at Palmetto State Park and celebrating my birthday, hubby decided to take me in to Lulling for lunch. We came across a gem, Mom's Front Porch. I had the half sandwich and soup. My chicken salad had the right amount of sweetness to it and the broccoli soup was absolutely wonderful. It was thick and filling not watery . My husband had the ham salad sandwich a true man size sandwich. Because I mentioned we saw them on Yelp we were given a free cookie and to top it all since it was my birthday a free cup of ice cream of my choosing. Staff was friendly and helpful.
