Downtown needs more bars like Momo. Huge outdoor patios? Yes! Moody indoor space? Absolutely! I recently came to Momo for the first time ever, which is shocking considering how many friends live nearby. The streetscape gives away nothing, with dark windows and paint colors enticing you to enter the large main doors. Upon entry, you'll notice the ample bar with several friendly bartenders. Definitely take a menu and order here, since, there is no table service. Drinks are well priced, and there are options for everyone. The food options seem ideal for a bar, too, with several items that I would happily engorge if needed. We ordered a few cocktails and made our way back to the patio. Tables are a plenty, and the shaded spaces with hints of the cityscape above make this a unique space. I am sure that nighttime crowds are a vibe, and they better have live music. We just happened to be here when a large bachelor party showed up, and thankfully we left soon after. Because of the massive walls surrounding the patio, noise reverberates well, so I would recommend that the ownership plants a few trees and shrubs to add some noise-dampening support for moments when loud men come in. Get the Mac and Cheese! Seriously, so good! Our friend know's a local and they recommended this spot and the mac and cheese and it was awesome. This spot gives dive bar feels, we ended up here during a quiet time and found a spot outside to sip some beers and enjoy our food. There was a lot of space and you wouldn't know there was an outdoor area from the outside. The staff was friendly and we were able to just hang out and talk for a couple hours before heading to our next stop of the day. Our local friend wanted to keep this spot under the radar so it doesn't get overrun by tourists, but I had to share so you can enjoy the mac and cheese too. read more

So glad they reopened! Heard rave reviews about the place (and their nachos) so been meaning to try for awhile and they certainly didn't disappoint. Huge nachos with generous toppings smothered in cheese was great with their drinks. It wasn't "gourmet" by any means but really hit the spot. The drinks were also super well-made at $8 a pop. Friendly bartenders! Alcohol had no official menu. I got a red wine to go with my Mac and cheese. It was ok for a dive bar; $11 per glass but a good generous portion. I wish I tried their cocktails but I wasn't in the mood for any liquor. As for the Mac and cheese, it tasted just like stouffer's haha and they give 2 garlic breads that taste like Texas toast. Late night place, with a non-descript exterior but a nice outdoor patio and kind of retro interior decor. You order at the bar, and honestly the patrons are typically much younger and cooler than me plus some business types during the week but they make an excellent cocktail and the bartenders are true professionals who keep things moving expertly when there is [often] a rush on drink orders. And the food is good if not fancy, I definitely recommend the grilled cheese which is always a late night favorite of mine and they can also make a mean Manhattan or Old Fashioned. My boyfriend and I went here last night and we got yelled at for literally using the restroom. We simply were on our way out of the bar and I asked him to come into the restroom to hold my stuff. That was all. There is no rule that more than one person can go in at a time? If it was another girl they wouldn't have cared. Eh, large shots, terrible food, ok service. Would recommend for anyone looking to just drink, wouldn't recommend if you're hungry.

My husband and I stopped here two nights in a row during our Portland stay. The first night it was extremely busy. We ordered at the bar a beer and a cider. We ended up sitting in the front area of the indoor portion of the bar in these huge chairs that are hard to get out. Lol or maybe it was because I had a decent amount to drink before hanging out in the chair? Overall a fun night and enjoyed this dive bar. The second night it wasn't as busy. We both ordered a vodka with club soda. We got our drinks and enjoyed them outside in the outdoor patio. The night was great until we saw a huge rat running through the outdoor patio area. Nope!!! We immediately finished our drinks and left. It's outside so not blaming the bar on the rat we saw. Also note, there is a sign for the patio area that says to keep noise level at a minimum after 10pm since people live right above. Not sure if this was a joke or not but I found it amusing as drunk people are not quiet even when they try to be. read more

Momo's was disappointing. We went there to check out the patio and enjoy a cool beverage yesterday. Turns out, they have no mint, so, no Mojito. They have no blender, no Margarita. Fine, I'll have a damn Corona. It was a warm afternoon after all. We were hungry but the food menu was very limited, the kind of stuff I would expect at a truck stop and I wasn't in a honky-tonk gastronomic place at the time. Came here on a Saturday night after doing some buzzed golfing at Glowing Greens with some friends, which is walking distance away. We wanted to keep drinking so we googled the closest bar and it was Momo. Walked in, it's a divey but chill bar (there's a patio, some booths/ tables to sit at, an extra room with some arcade games, a pool table some fratty guys were playing at), overall, very chill. Granted it was Memorial Day Weekend so maybe all of downtown was emptier than usual - but there was literally only like 30 people here, and 10 of them were this big group of Asians all here for the same birthday party haha. I like the emptiness to some extent though because it's easy to get drinks - I would recommend getting beer or shots here, because the mixed drinks are just okay (makes sense, I don't think the bartenders are like mixologists or whatever...) The service was okay, the bouncer at the front checking IDs gave us weird semi-creepy vibes. The 1-2 bathrooms they have were kinda dirty, but I guess it's a divey bar so that's to be expected. They had chill 90s music playing, which was fun, and it was a good place for me and my girl friends to just chill (I've used the word chill like 10 times already in this review, are you getting the vibe?) Sitting around having a beer, and the beers weren't too expensive either ($6-7) The crowd looked like early-late twenties, all the strangers I got into conversation with were super nice and had great recommendations for Portland nightlife. The sign out front is super subtle (if you're not looking carefully or haven't been her before, it's super easy to miss, especially if it's not poppin' inside). Overall, I wouldn't intentionally seek out a night to be like "LET'S FREAKING GO TO MOMO," but if it was close to where I happened to be and I wanted a drink, I wouldn't mind coming here again. read more

Momo's, you unassuming little minx. Lacking a huge sign, sometimes it's easy to forget about you until you're right there - and then - hey let's go there. It has plenty of places to sit your butt down for a drink. Two rooms on the inside and a spacious patio on the outside for those nice summer (or spring, whatever) nights that merit basking in the rare warmth. There's also pinball for fun and TV. Drinks aren't too pricey but mixed drinks can be fairly weak - depends on the bartender. They do have a good selection of beer so there's that. They have food too - never tried it - but seems like your normal bar fare. Service is perfunctory yet acceptable. read more
