My apologies this is a long post, but if you have a PERMANET FAULT CODE P0442 and FAILED Smog, you may want to read.... I originally came in with NO check engine light or battery issues. He tested my 2016 car with 130,000 miles and found a "Permanent Fault Code P0442 - Evap System Leak (small leak)." He said this caused my vehicle to fail the Smog Test. He did not charge me for the test which was gracious. This reinforces perhaps this is not being done intentionally. My mechanic fixed the car prior to the test. Due to a large number of people clearing their fault codes to pass smog, this regulation was added in 2019 where permanent fault codes (meaning no current issues but past) remains in your vehicle computer system until 15-specific drive cycles and 200 miles have been driven where the system checks the fault and then removes the code. If after completing the 15 drive cycles/200 miles, the permanent fault code remains, the Smog Machine should "ignore" the code and pass the vehicle. I am not mechanically inclined, but I had to learn about this to solve the issue. When my mechanic confirmed the car had 15 cycles and over 200 miles, he said I should be good to have it retested. I returned to Mom's and he scanned my car and said the permanent code remains and the car will fail. I literally "begged" him to smog my car adding I would pay if it failed. He refused. At the time, I thought you had to return to the same smog check company to have it retested. Since he refused, I had no choice but to try somewhere else. I took it to another test only site and it PASSED!!!! The Smog machine WILL indeed "ignore" the code if the drive cycles are done. There are so many cars with expired tags. I used to look down on their irresponsibility and now I wonder if they went to Mom's or similar and were told incorrect information and have been frantic like me driving all over town and up and down the freeway. Mom's needs to do more research on the Permanent Fault Codes and not be too proud to insist they are right at the expense of others. Kyle is always helpful, kind, and has quick service! I always take my car to Mom smog.

Service was great. I did go at 930am. But there was another car before me but still in and out less then 30 mins. Customer service was great. He welcome we at the door. Price is average but it's a flat price. I did call ahead and requested a quote and it was the same price when I arrived. No tom fullery. The only thing I feel they can do is clean up the waiting room but other then that it was great. read more

Okay so yes the place is pretty dirty but when it comes to auto services I've rarely seen an impeccably clean one. They're not serving food so no harm! The reason for my high star rating is the treatment I had when we took the car to get it smogged. I had a minimal wait but a 3 year old in tow.. the guy put on cartoons just for him. I was very impressed with how this one guy handled things when others started coming in while he was still working on my car. He didn't put my smog on hold and help everyone else while I waited but he also didn't make them wait. The balance was great. I will be going here again for my next smog. read more

Drop off of U-Haul went well but not without a hitch. The young man was doing his job but U-Haul in Fontana didn't explain the miles they calculated were from Fontana U-Haul to our rental in apple valley. They can't calculate me driving from Fontana to Cucamonga, loading the U-Haul, Cucamonga to apple valley and then to Moms which is another 5 or 6 miles away to turn in the van. So it cost an extra $19. read more

I chose to go to Moms because it's close to my house and it had good reviews on yelp. First of all I'm a woman and I hate dealing with most mechanics because they can be very dismissive or overly flirtatious. When I got out of my car to walk to the entrance there was a group of men standing outside discussing politics very loudly which was weird to me. Inside the lobby is very messy old steel chairs there were 2 people sitting in the lobby and no one at the front desk. I waited a few minutes no one even acknowledged my presence not even to say we'll be right with you after waiting a few more minutes I decided to leave and go to G&M automotive which my experience was night and day. read more
