I recently went to Molly Blooms for a quick lunch with friends. The environment is laid back and casual, just what one would expect for a bar/grill. Menu is standard with great options for everything from fries to nachos to burgers. We got a platter with deep fried pickles, onion rings, chicken, and home fries. By and large the food tasted great and fresh, but the home fries were extremely greasy and cut too thinly. Service was friendly but a little inattentive given the slower hours of the late afternoon when we had lunch. Overall a good experience and I wouldn't mind going back to try something different when the place is a bit busier. read more

It's pretty much a standard pub. They have different specials everyday and I usually come for the wing special. I came on Friday where they have $8.50 triples or $3.00 singles. I decided to get a rum and coke, pretty standard drink. The food is average pub food. I got the fish and chips which they also had a special for, $11 for 1 piece. The portions are really big since the 1 piece I got was huge. Though the food quality isn't really the best, it was somewhat cold and the fish was really chewy. I enjoy coming for the cheap Stellas on Thursday's with friends! Pretty much everyone gets Stellas and we share some pub food (fries, etc). The music here is usually way too loud that I have to yell across the table so that others can hear me. It's also a little cold inside here so don't recommend sitting by the door in winter. read more

Went their recently with a group of friends. Small and homey, waitress was polite and asked us often if we needed anything. The food was disappointing though, and mediocre at best. I had the fish and chips which was quite small portions, I was still hungry after that. My friend also got the fish and chips but the filet was bigger and they had more fries and they had so much more food than me that they couldn't finish it! The fish filet was also dry and I've had better. This place is not even that cheap. In conclusion, I probably wouldn't return unless there were free events held at Molly's. Some obvious feedback is make portions equal and try to prepare our food a bit faster. Pub food took longer than we all expected for it to come out. read more

I love how close to place is to campus, makes it super convenient to go there with friends/classmates. They have daily deals which is awesome (ie $5 wings with purchase of a drink on Tuesdays, $12 domestic pitchers on Wednesday, $3.50 Stellas on Thursday and my personal fav $8 triples on Fridays) as well as $5 apps after 9pm. I also LOVE the live music during the weekends, so nice to chill there and grab a beer. I really wanted to give this place a 4/5 but honestly, the service here is really inconsistent. Sometimes the servers can be extremely rude and impatient and typically, the service is quite slow. One of the servers accused my friend of being drunk immediately when he came in and was talking smack about him when we could clearly hear her. My friend doesn't even drink and her attitude was super uncalled for. read more

It's a solid 3.5 stars. The atmosphere is decent. Beer and food are priced reasonably. If you just order the specials, you can get away with a fairly low bill. It's a small to medium sized place, but there are a lot of chairs. TV's are conveniently located, but they all seem relatively small and old. There's even a CRT TV up in a corner. A good place to go to if you live in the area (I frequented when I lived on UW's campus). The beer selection has a lot to be desired, with only the mainstream beers present (Keith's, Guinness, Mill's). The food makes up for it though. Group of 4 of us (3 guys, one with his daughter), walked into the bar at approx 11pm. After patiently waiting 15 mins without being acknowledged as staff delivered food and settled tabs all around us, the girl serving finally came up to us and indicated that the kitchen had closed and more surprisingly that they had already called last call for beers, an hour before closing time!! While we indicated that we just wanted a quick drink and would be finished long before closing time, she refused to serve us. When we indicated that last call an hour before closing is ridiculous, she became aggressively sarcastic "Well do you want a beer now you've shouted at me" (I wasn't shouting! My friends had left but she was partially blocking my exit), Me: "Well are you going to serve me a beer?" Her: "No". I believe that the bar was already too busy for her and her fellow server and that she didn't want to deal with new customers and wasn't bother about the loss of business. read more

This is a really great place to grab a beer with friends/coworkers after work and is conveniently located right at the university plaza. Furthermore they have good deals for engineering students at University of Waterloo especially. However, during the busy nights, there is one or two occasions where the server would mix up orders and I was the unlucky one to experience the order mix up. However, the server was nice to apologize and she brought the right order in the quickest time possible, even though the quickest she could get my right order to me was within 15mins. The food is typical of a pub, there is nothing special in there that you should order. It's always a safe choice to pick between spinach dip or nachos for the appetizers. Got the nachos and they took forever, weird considering only the veeery top layer of nachos were covered in any cheese/olives/jalapeños. It was 10 bucks and didn't salsa and sour cream refills were extra...hard to swallow when you are sitting in front of 20 tortilla chips not covered in any garnish or cheese, just plain. Pub's employees and security was overall disrespectful to customers. Went with a group of friends and they had to check our IDs, which was expected, but the security's actions towards us was unfriendly. Next, one of the workers there kicked our friend out for not ordering, but how she approached it was sassy and hostile. Most of us thought it was unnecessary as the food could have been shared between all of us and our friend wasn't taking up much space in the pub anyways. Went for half price wings, the usual buy a drink for half off wings deal. Pretty good wings, they don't cheap out. Only downside is they don't give take out containers for half priced wings (I guess for fear that people may order a lot just to take home). Have yet to go on a regular night.
