    Carne asada fries

Jersey City, NJ // This place has been open for years but I just recently stumbled upon it. Husband and I even googled the address and never knew it was along a major JC street that we frequent. The carne asada fries was amazeballs. Tip: Ask for extra crema. Location: it's right across Dairy Queen

This is a local, no frills restaurant for authentic Mexican cuisine. It was pretty empty on a Saturday around 3pm. The decor inside is not much and the floor and salsa bottles could have been cleaner, but the service was great. They have an extensive menu with all the popular options you'd expect. We noticed that the employees were also eating dishes from the restaurant on their breaks which is a good sign that they truly enjoy the food. To start, I ordered the fried mushroom quesadilla. The menu listed this dish for $3.75, which is a great price, but they charged us $4.25, maybe because we got the fried version. However, the menu didn't specify there would be an upcharge. Despite this issue, the quesadilla was delicious. The fried dough was crispy and ever so slightly sweet. The cheese and lettuce on top were nice complements. For my main, I had the enchiladas. I swapped the chicken for potatoes since I'm vegetarian. It was a very generous portion size and I couldn't finish it all. It came with refried beans, rice, lettuce, and tomatoes. The beans were a bit cold. I did not care for the mole sauce on the enchiladas but I think it was a very traditional preparation so it's a great dish for those who enjoy the distinct flavor. My boyfriend ordered the chicken torta and chicken burrito and said both were awesome. The burrito was quite large and he ended up taking half of it home. For the table, they provide green and red salsa. Neither were spicy, but they do offer a hot sauce that you can pay extra for. Overall, worth a try to support a local, small business!

Stuffed to the brim with mostly rice, not much meat. Nice sized though and plenty flavorful.

I've seen this one specific location change into a million different restaurants. This is one that I genuinely hope that sticks around. I used to drive downtown to taqueria all the time for my taco fix, but this place gives you more bang for your buck. The tacos are much bigger and I find that they have more flavor. Their menu has an overwhelming amount of options, but the tacos and carne asada fries are so worth it. Their quesadillas aren't made with the flat tortillas like every other place and I think even their plain quesadilla is fine without any dipping sauce. Also, BYOB. I subtracted one star because they're closed on taco tuesday.

Cuisine: 7 Service: 7 Decor: 5 Value: 8 Overall: 7 Stumbled upon this little restaurant the other day. Ordered some guacamole & chips, a few tacos, and corn. Everything tasted good, and the prices were great for a sit down restaurant. Though nothing I would travel more than 10 minutes for, it's a decent neighborhood spot when craving Mexican.

We took a long walk here on a cold but sunny Saturday afternoon. The place was empty except for a couple pick up orders. Clean and colorful paint, few tables and chairs, spacious and looks like can hold up to 30 people. We ordered the chicken soup, corn and tacos. Food came out quickly. Soup was large and well made, enough for one meal. Tacos were just ok, meat was a dry, sort of re-fried. Corn was also ok. Service was quick and lady taking the orders was accommodating. Good spot for your Mexican food hit. Support local.

This place has been a go-to to for some authentic Mexican. I've ordered takeout a bunch now and dined in a few times before covid. Haven't had a complaint yet and even with delivery, the quality was still just as good as dining in. Things to definitely get: - Any of the tacos really. I've tried the steak, barbacoa, chorizo, and pollo de milanesa (breaded chicken cutlet) and they're all delicious. Most come with just the meat, onions, and cilantro so I always add on some cheese or rice - Choripapas aka chorizo fries is one of my boyfriend's favorites and definitely more than enough to share between 2 people The only thing I've tried that I wasn't a big fan of was the chicken enchiladas. The chicken lacked a lot of flavor but had a decent amount of verdes sauce. Service is always prompt and those working here are very kind. Great value for delicious food. Definitely recommend when you need your taco fix in this area and don't wanna go downtown!

Quesadilla de Pollo and Tacos del Pastor, I put them together. Both oh so good.

Ordered for the first time -Uber Eats. Delicious. I ordered- Tacos Al Pastor, Quesadilla de Pollo Tinga, Taco de Res (Steak), Taco de Pollo (Fried Chicken) .. all SO Good! I also ordered Tamales de Rajas but they ran out so they gave me a call and offered me Tamales de Verde, I was hesitant at first because I've tried them in the past and was not a fan, I LOVED THEM! This place is awesome, I can't wait to try them again. The food was delicious, they were super friendly when they called and it was all delivered under 30 mins.

WOW WOW WOW this food is flipping amazing super fresh and you can taste every ingredient. I had a glass of the freshest orchata, followed by the most velvety tamale, followed by these amazing quesadillas. Forget everything you thought you knew about Mexican food and come here and get a real taste of authentic Mexican cuisine.

Good Mexican food. Not authentic, but more like Tex mex which also a good blend. Employees seems nice.

El Rancho Taqueria fits the bill. Placed an order for takeout and trekked 10 mins (in timbs lol) to pickup the food and eat it in the comforts of home. This fit my nearly 6 year craving to the T. The melted queso and heat of the verde sauce was perfect. The rice and beans were plentiful, but not too much. Enchiladas were cooked well. Couldn't ask for more - I found my spot! I ordered a chicken burrito bowl and steak tacos. I took the food to go but it definitely was cozy in there. Plenty of people were having dinner I saw a couple enjoying some guacamole and chips, a friend group having some churros and another table eating fajitas. My order was taken immediately and not long after it came out to go. The tacos were delicious I loved the raw onion and the orange sauce that came on the side. They were wrapped with two tortillas and the steak had a nice juicy flavor. The burrito bowl had beans, chicken, yellow rice, cheese and a salad mix. Both meals were delicious but I enjoyed the tacos a bit more. This place left me full and satisfied.

But…read moreit's because the food, the drinks and the vibes are so incredible that you kind of don't mind the wait. I've waited every time I've come but last weekend was by far the longest. We put our names down around 7:30, grabbed a few margaritas from the bar inside and waited outside on the sidewalk for about an hour and a half. A couple tips to make your wait bearable! -If you are staying close by, grab some margaritas at the bar and hang out. -If your wait time is expected to be over an hour, I promise it won't be less than that so you might as well walk around or grab drinks elsewhere and come back. After we finally got in, we were seated in the enclosed back patio space (it's still cold out, but this is usually a lovely spot for dinner during the warmer months). Get the guac! We got a medley of a bunch of different tacos but my favorite was the fish and the lengua. Loved everything and have declared every time that I leave that those are the best tacos in the area. Worth the wait (to an extent) but just go on a weeknight if ya can!

The moment we approached the host stand, the host outside was immediately rude and dismissive. We asked for a table and were told there were "no tables" and that they were "not taking any names for the rest of the night." We were told the only option was takeout and that we could eat outside. Fine, no problem. We got on the takeout line and politely asked if we were in the correct line since it was our first time there. One of the male hosts responded condescendingly, "It's here, buddy." First of all, who are you calling buddy? Completely unnecessary attitude for a simple question. We ordered 8 tacos and 2 margaritas. While ordering, there were TWO empty seats at the bar. My boyfriend asked if we could sit there and the woman taking our order flat out said no. Two minutes later, two guys came up speaking Spanish and asked for those exact seats. No only she interrupted me while ordering. She said, yes in Spanish. Still...it's fine. We proceeded with ordering. Still trying to enjoy our night, we waited quietly with our drinks while our food was being made. Then we watched another couple walk up and ask for a table. This time the hosts said YES and quoted them a 45 minute to 1 hour wait. Meanwhile, we had just been told they weren't taking ANY tables for the night. At that point, we genuinely looked at each other in disbelief. To make matters worse, the margaritas were awful. I went back inside to order sangrias instead and check on our food. Then suddenly the woman taking orders tells me we "can't eat or drink our takeout outside." That directly contradicted what the hostess originally told us -- which is the entire reason we agreed to order takeout in the first place. When I tried to clarify because I was genuinely confused, she responded rudely and said we'd have to finish our food and return the bag before ordering drinks. At this point, we don't even want to eat the food anymore because of how poorly we were treated throughout the entire experience. No meal is worth being made to feel unwelcome, dismissed, and disrespected from the second you walk in. This wasn't about price, waiting, or inconvenience. It was about the attitude, inconsistency, and complete lack of basic customer respect at every interaction. I have genuinely never experienced worse service than this. I'd rather eat shit than ever returning or giving this a second chance. Save your money and go somewhere that actually values customers.

Looking for a quick dinner, I decided to come here on a whim. Because it was raining pretty decently, I opted to eat inside. There's a small size dining area in the back, though the ordering area and hallway leading there is a bit narrow. Anyhow, for those who are new, the concept is similar to Chipotle, except that they create everything for you behind the scenes. I basically opted for the burrito bowl except with the vegan chorizo (Tacorizo). Before adding the sauces, the Tacorizo had a good amount of heat to it. I simply added the two mildest sauces and it was just enough. Bowl tasted great and it was obviously very filling. Good spot for a quick bite.

That being said, the habanero sweet orange sauce and the elite corn they have from the sides menu... Best things I ate there! I don't even know what that orange mayo like sauce was on that corn but it made me sad knowing I only had two cute baby corns to eat, I just wanted to keep getting kernels in my teeth for that cob. And the habanero sauce, was downright slurpable. I didn't bother drizzling when you can just take a shot of it after every bite of either taco, burrito, whatever you get. Had to separate this paragraph for the tacos I got. I got 4 tacos. A pollo pastor, a shredded chicken, regular pollo, and regular carne asada. Now pollo and carne asada, nothing too special. Standard but with the way they sauce it and present it, I can say solid taco. The pollo pastor...as someone who can't eat pork, this was a blast to eat. They use mini chunk pineapple and put a good amount of condiments to balance it all out. Chicken not dry and super flavorful. Also enjoy the single tortilla over double. Less carbs. Now that shredded chicken. While not dry, I don't know where that bite was taking me. I just wasn't feeling it and I can't pinpoint why. I don't know if it's the extra stuff on top of it, or the fact that the corn was my fave but the side sauces didn't help. I'd def come back for the other 3 but not that shredded one. That limonada was sooooo good and refreshing! I thought I'd get horchata when I had the chance but because that limonada was hitting right, didn't even bother. And the fact it's like unlimited refills if you get a drink, totally worth it! Overall, I appreciate the patience of the manager and cashier. They were really nice and helpful. The interior was sick too. Repurpose lockers for chairs. Baseball stadium chairs. Definitely tight but just right. I was struggling finding spots for Mexican food, I have a pretty high standard for it, but I'll give this a solid/perfection score lol
