With that being said... count your days El Águila Dorada! I ordered tacos Al Pastor and what I got in return was honey baked ham in a half cooked tortilla. Went to this restaurant located in Midtown Bay-onne. Love this little spot. The service is always friendly and they were observing Covid precautions with hand sanitizer at the door, everyone masked and gloved. Tables were socially distanced. Now, the food. Went with a friend and we had the same entrée, skirt steak with 2 jumbo stuffed shrimp. SO delicious. Steak was cooked as ordered (medium) and tender. The stuffing on the shrimp was crabmeat and very tasty. Also enjoyed the champagne Sangria!!! This is a lovely, unassuming spot with consistently good ,reasonably priced food. My initial review of El Aguila Dorada was way back when (2009), when this place was first an unassuming Mexican restaurant just finding its way. It says a lot about an establishment when 10 years later, not only are they still around doing business, but they're actually thriving. Everything in my initial review is still accurate - amazing food, quick/attentive service. They've also added a liquor license, so while you can't BYOB anymore, you can enjoy some really tasty margaritas or beer. I feel like their menu is constantly expanding, but everything I've ever tried is still a hit. Pozole (soup) is a good option in the winter, and the enchiladas have never steered me wrong. They've also opened another location farther downtown (20th and Broadway), which I'll have to check out sometime. Definitely one to visit! read more

Food is too good! I usually order the chicken enchilada with green sauce. I recently ventured out to shrimp tacos and they were pretty good as well. I love this place! It's pretty solid! The only thing is that usually have to wait 20 to 25 minutes before receiving your meal if you were placing an order through the phone. Little Mexican spot, easy to find, on-street parking. We visited here on a Sunday afternoon around lunch time and it wasn't too busy. There were two other tables of people besides us. Six page menu is huge with plenty of good choices. Upon seating they bring you complimentary tortilla chips and salsa. The salsa was very flavorful but soupy and hard to scoop and stick to the chip. When visiting Mexican restaurants, I typically opt for the same 'ol, same 'ol--being either a burrito, tacos or fajitas. But something on this menu really caught my eye -- the Alambres, which I never heard of before. You can choose either chicken, steak or shrimp (or all three, which is what I got--go big or go home!!!), which is then sautéed with onions, peppers, sliced jalapeños, bacon and ham and then topped with cheese. It is served with a side of refried beans and rice and some soft tortillas. Wow, was this good!! My boyfriend ordered a cheeseburger. A CHEESEBURGER--at a Mexican restaurant....the nerve....lol. But it was HUGE and he really enjoyed it. One star short because of service. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't that good either. Especially for the place not being too busy. Not my first time coming to this restaurant as I was taken to the old location a few years ago for my birthday, but this was my first time coming to the new location on Broadway. Came in a few weeks ago for an early dinner with my whole family. We ordered a bunch of appetizers for the table all of which were excellent. We got the chorizo queso which was by far my favorite of them all. It was so delicious and some of my favorite queso I've ever had. We also got the garlic shrimp, guacamole, and salsa. They came out with as many orders of chips as we wanted and each and every one felt and tasted like they were fresh batch. For my meal, I got the steak fajita. Typical steak burrito dish, served sizzling hot on the cast iron -- steak, peppers, onions and all the toppings/flour tortillas on the side. This meal also was very good, I just believe the steak was a little tough. All in all the service and everything was great and I will definitely be back in the future to try some other options in the menu! read more

Pretty good food, but relatively slow service, even when it's not super busy. Ordered a starter of nachos, which came out pretty quick. We had finished the nachos and waited 30 minutes for our food to come out. Wait staff is slow to refill water (you have to ask generally, it's not proactive). I've ordered take out from this place before and portions are the same as what you get in person, which is nice. read more
