Face/Eyebrow Wax: I was in town for a conference and forgot to get this done before I came. Jeslesa was my spa technician and she did an amazing job. Very personable and bright. While she was doing my eye brows she said sometimes eyebrows are sisters and they need to look like twins. It felt like it took longer than usual, but the results were perfect. This is our 2nd time coming and we will be back.... We enjoyed our 1st visit so much we decided to book another spa day during our weekend getaway. This time there was a hiccup with the massage we booked and the therapist (only finding out about it the night before our service). She unfortunately had an emergency and could not provide the massage. However, the manager Roxanne and front desk/Bree were super apologetic and accommodating. They offered different services at a discounted rate to make up for it. As disappointing as it was to have our massage therapist cancel, we completely understand that things/life happens. The important thing is that Mokara Spa & staff did right by us by deeply caring and making sure we were happy and taken care of. They really did go above and beyond and we really appreciated all they did. We decided to have 3 pedi's at the same time so that was fun being all together drinking mamosa's. In fact, during procedure it turned out that I have a blueberry body treatment that is more expensive and takes longer time. Well, OK then. Wendy was extremely nice and made her job great. I like spas, but I don't like hoity-toity spas. It's not relaxing. I had a good feeling when I walked into Mokara in Las Colinas. Some spas have soft lighting because they figure making you sleepy is the same thing as relaxing you. The Mokara lobby in Irving has gigantic windows with tranquil views of Lake Carolyn. The natural light is so inviting, especially after sitting under fluorescent lights at work all the time. The nail lounge also has a large window with a view, which you face as you get your nails done. I highly recommend Gloria who gave me a pedicure. The foot rub was GREAT. (If only I could train my husband to do that.) And she was precise about her work. She actually put on reading glasses to put on the polish, which was perfectly applied. I needed a last minute root touch-up after my regular hair stylist at another place canceled on me with no notice so I decided to give Mokara a try. They were able to get me in and were SO nice. It's always scary to go to a new stylist for color but she was very diligent about trying to find the perfect shade. I love this place. I've been coming here to get my hair done from the same hairstylist since before it was bought out by the Omni Hotel. I went there the other day and purchased some hair styling products. To my dismay, the sprayer on the bottle of Kevin.Murphy Shimmer Shine stopped working the third time I used it (as luck would have it, I was heading out for an evening engagement when it stopped working). :-( Anyhow, I called the store and they said they would replace it, no problem, but I had to use up my lunch hour and gas driving from downtown Dallas all the way out to Las Colinas. The Mokara Spa is beautiful, natural light floods the salon and you can watch the gondolas float by as the spa is directly adjacent to Lake Carolyn. Friendliest spa staff ever! Everyone here is so genuine and sweet! There are so many talented ladies, I recommend Debbie for a fabulous cut and color, Anna for a thorough and relaxing facial, and Barbara for a delightful mani pedi! This spa also sells aveda products, which is a big plus! This is a great place to celebrate anniversaries and host bridal showers/bachelorette parties. We were staying at the Omni at Las Colinas and came in for a pedicure. They set me set me up with Barbara who was very sweet and attentive. The pedicure (as expected) was pricey and though there wasn't much of a massage, she took her time. My feet were very smooth and the polish, cuticles, and nail shaping were perfect. I would have preferred a spa that had a direct access from the hotel (you have to walk outside and around the front of the street or down the stairs on the outside). I also didn't expect (nor like) gratuity to automatically be added at 20%. The set up of the spa itself is strange as she services are set up on the ground floor and you have to walk up stairs to check out. Not sure I would return, but overall it was pleasant. read more

Horrible!!! I live locally and have gone here before. I took my wife in here this past Saturday to get a couple swedish massage for our anniversary, They have you fill out this paperwork before you go in for how you want things, etc. Apparently they never look at the sheet because I spent 300 dollars on the massages only to have the woman put stuff all over my face when it asked clearly on the sheet if I wanted my face touched. I specifically asked to focus on my hands as I'm in I.T. She never touched them. 300 dollars and an Anniversary!!! The only thing they asked was if I was staying at the hotel, as if that had anything to do with it. Seriously, the massage therapist needs to be fired, it didn't even seem like she was a real massage therapist. Never again will I spend money at this place. Barbara was amazing. Last night, I received a pedicure with 30-minutes of reflexology. I was really touched by how dedicated and loyal Barbara came across. She oozed with appreciation and love for working at Mokara, which poured into a really great customer experience. She shared how much she loved her boss, who had been with Mokara for a very long time 20+ years. She raved about the business owner, and how well he treats employees; as well as how he extends himself on a philanthropic level. She herself had a tremendous amount of tenure. I felt I was supporting a great business that genuinely aims to make a great experience for employees and customers alike. My pedicure was phenomenal. Barbara had a very healing touch and worked on me with a servant's heart mentality. Roxanne was polite, patient and provided very good customer care. In particular, she explained the types of massages available which helped with the best choice for us. Alan provided the service and my wife thought him to be attentive and was very conscious of what could bring discomfort. He was well informed, skillful, and experienced. I've been coming here for years! Beautiful place and very clean. The salon is 2 stories with a gorgeous view of the lake. Debbie has been cutting, coloring, highlighting my hair for years - she's wonderful and has good ideas for cuts and color. All the stylists are very experienced and do wonderful hair. The salon also does nails, makeup and massages. I've had my nails done once and loved the experience - the nail tech did an excellent job and it was very relaxing. AVOID! I was staying at the hotel and called for a blowout 2 hours in advance of my appointment. I was told they could fit me in no problem. Getting to the salon was a feat itself because you have to walk outside, behind the parking garage and there are no signs or directional markers. I walked in the door and there was no check in to be seen. A girl came down the stairs halfway and assumed I was there for a pedicure. No. She checked me in and told me to wait on the couch that had brown dye or something on the pillows. Gross. I waited for 20 minutes before anyone even approached me to tell me my person would be with me soon. No wine, no communication, nothing. After 30 minutes, the girl came to get me. She was nice enough but made several awkward comments that left me feeling uncomfortable. At the end of the appointment, I had been there for 1.5 hours and had ZERO curl in my hair and uneven volume that I had to go back and fix in my hotel room. No one told me where to check out so I assumed upstairs and had to ask the lady at the desk if that was where I pay. $45 dollars and a hour and half later, this was the worst salon experience I have had ever. Save your money and go to Drybar or anywhere else. read more

Beautiful views of lake Carolyn ...sure! But this is an outdated salon with subpar accommodations and terrible management. This is not a spa by any stretch of imagination ... no wet area, etc. It has rooms for massages and facials - similar to massage envy. Parking is always a nightmare, the place is always empty and overall lackluster. The director and assistant manager are rude and seem to be on a power trip, together.
