I was diagnosed with TMJ several years ago, and it took a lot of online research to connect all of the dots - my back pain, neck pain, and ear issues were all connected to the TMJ. This place is life changing. Truly! I bought some Groupons and missed that it was NRT. I thought it was a massage, but I am so happy I bought them. I went in first and starting seeing Alex. He's one of the kindest and coolest people I've ever met. We immediately addressed a catch in my neck. Since my 1st visit, I have had more movement in my neck than ever. Even after years of constant massage, chiropractic, cupping and acupuncture. It has only continued to improve with more sessions. I go about 1-2x a month and wish I could go 1-2x a week to really stomp out my imbalances. The method is placing pressure on muscles to release, renew them and draw blood to stagnant areas. It's so helpful. Nothing is going to miraculously heal you after, one or so visits. We still fall back into our old habits, so I use this to help facilitate the change. I still get massages to help relax all of my tense muscles. Then I got my husband to go in. (He was beyond skeptical, even though I was telling him how helpful it was). I purchased a Groupon for Mojo Physio thinking it was a massage but I was wrong and I am so glad I was wrong. Some things are just meant to be. I ended up scheduling as appointment after I experienced a rotator cuff injury. I literally couldn't move my arm in much of any direction without anguishing pain. I went to their website and started reading on the therapy which sounded like it would be helpful. They are located in the Scottsdale Airpark area around Scottsdale and Thunderbird. I had my first appointment with Laura. She is a nice, pleasant, and incredibly interesting person. She did an initial assessment and then asked me a serious of questions about how I was feeling overall, my injury, etc. And then away she went. I noticed a significant improvement after my first treatment and have been in 3 others times: twice with Laura and once in their downtown location with Alex who is also excellent. I met Paul when he came to my place work, a dental office, to teach us about how TMJ issues can cause pain in other areas of the body. It was quite interesting! As a dental hygienist, I have been struggling with back pain for several years now and it is getting progressively worse. My therapist Alex has been phenomenal. 8 weeks out from rotator cuff surgery, my surgeon said I needed to work quickly on regaining my range of motion. I realized PT by itself was not enough and went to Mojo. I felt the difference after the first visit, though it took me 6 -8 visits to get the full effect. Shortly after that I was suffering from knee pain and in one visit in which Alex treated my knee, I felt the joint click into place experienced an 80% drop in pain. Paul came as a recommendation from a physician friend of mine. As a dentist, I am fully aware of what clenching and grinding can do to your teeth, but not how to stop it completely or naturally. As a result of clenching or grinding, most patients will often experience TMJ pain and severe migraines on top of wearing down their irreplaceable enamel or fracturing a tooth. I'm accustomed to treating these patients with a night guard which protects the teeth though it really doesn't get rid of the habit which is the source of the issue. I know as I am one of those patients myself. When I started seeing Paul, I was religious about wearing my night guard though I was still having severe pain in my jaw on a daily basis, even just driving down the road. Since I've started seeing Paul to work on my TMJ pain, I'm pain free for the first time in years and it feels soooo good! Don't mistaken this for a temporary feel good massage, it is precise treatment with real lasting results. What he does is he retrains your brain to not take so much stress out on your body. Reading the prior reviews, I think I must have visited the wrong place. I was assigned Alex, who seemed unable to find any trigger points to help to relieve my shoulder. In the past a therapist has moved my arm in order to diagnose where the issue is, He proceeded to use one hand and lazily pinch my shoulders, for a half hour, never getting to an area that would cause release of pain. Similarly he seemed not to deal with my neuropathy, He asked few questions. When my hour was up, I felt the same as when I came in, took all my pains with me. I have chronic pain as a result of a very serious medical condition. For months, my team of doctors at Mayo Clinic provided the maximum number of trigger point injections allowable. They provided little relief. They also prescribed opioids to help me get through the day. I simply had to find an alternative. I actually came across Mojo Physio on Groupon. Rolinda "Ro" is truly gifted. After 5 sessions with her my pain level went from 10 to 4. I was finally able to sleep, work, drive and even sit with relative comfort. Ten more sessions and my level level has reduced to a 2. I am able to go 7-10 days between sessions and I believe each subsequent session will provide a greater duration of time between sessions. The massage is targeted and focuses on nerve paths and the release of tightened muscles. To say Mojo Physio has been a God-send is an understatement. I recommend to anyone with chronic pain.
