My friend ordered the Empanadas and a Cuban sandwich. I didn't get a picture of the Cuban sandwich but it looked amazing. She said both were great. Our server did an excellent job checking on us regularly but not too much. She kept our water filled when she noticed they were getting empty. The environment is cozy, with festive lights on the window between the main room and the closed in patio. I haven't been here in a while. we went on mother's day. we got the pollo tostones which are always good. the calamari was really good with fried olives. I got a Pina colada. it was ok but not too strong. my wife got a mojito and she loved it. my wife ordered the vaca frita which she really enjoyed. I ordered the seafood stew which came with shrimp, calamari, whitefish but substituted for extra shrimp because I don't eat swai. swai is cheap, tasteless, Vietnamese catfish. that came with totones, rice and beans. my son ordered the minature paella. he really liked it. they gave my son a complimentary dessert for his birthday. everything was wonderful!!!! we also got the empanadas and they're always good. read more

I think I have to describe the food as heavenly. Everything is very flavorful and I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. Our group shared the hummus appetizer and they even offered to bring us extra pita. For dinner I had the short rib flatbread and it was pretty much perfection. Our waiter was quick and helpful. This is my absolute favorite restaurant in the city. I've been so many times as you can tell from all my photos. The restaurant is pretty small, but they have lots of tables and can usually get you in pretty quickly. Their mojitos are delish, but my favorite drink of theirs is the Cuba Colada. It's the best pina colada I've ever had. You must try it! When people ask them what my favorite dish is in the city, I tell them about table de chimichurri! The steak is always cooked perfectly. The chimichurri has so much flavor, paired with the crunchy potato strips and creamy mashed potatoes--it's one of the best meals you will ever eat. Some other dishes I love: stuffed dates, all sandwiches, manchego, guacamole, queso, sweet potato fries, gratinado de setas. I have been wanting to try Mojito Tapas for some time. It always seemed I/we were headed someplace else as we drove by. So, this Saturday afternoon, I wanted something different. I have my go tos but had a desire to eat at a restaurant that I have never been to before.... Then Mojito Tapas popped up in my Yelp search... I texted my wife and told her to meet me there.... After waiting for her to finish her errands, I met her at 12:30. We walked in, loved the décor, we were seated quickly and we perused the menu... I settled on a Tropical Mojito with coconut, and my wife ordered an Original Cuban Mojito. Both drinks were very favorable and if it had not been lunch, I would have ordered another. For our entrees, my wife ordered the Cubano and I followed up with a Havana Rumba. With both had Congri Rice as our side. Both sandwiches had great taste, except for one thing. My wife and I agreed that they needed more mustard. Not a big deal, just a personal preference. We had a great server, but again, my wife and I felt that they were understaffed. Our server seemed to be covering the entire restaurant as well as making drinks in the bar. They had one young man running out orders, but we did not see any additional servers. Since the young lady was running around trying to take care of all the customers, we did not ask for more mustard. With the size of the sandwiches, neither one of us could finish the whole thing, so we took our leftovers home. Monday for lunch, I fixed myself some black beans and rice, added some mustard to my sandwich and it was perfect. We will be back for sure. read more

My boyfriend and I wanted a nice dinner but we weren't too hungry. This place had excellent reviews and had tapas-style dishes so it was perfect. He started out with a mojito. It was really yummy, and we both liked chewing on the sugar cane garnish in it. For our food we got the zarzuela de mariscos and the tabla de chimichurri. These were both good. My boyfriend noted some inconsistency with the quality in the clams and mussels for the zarzuela de mariscos, but everything I tried in it I enjoyed. I wish we would've come more hungry, I wanted to try more things on the menu. Overall it was a really good experience. You quite literally cannot go wrong with ANYTHING on their menu. Such a fun place to go and share some food with anyone! Although they don't take reservations, they are always great about getting us into a table that can accommodate our size. (For reference, we typically bring 10 to 13 people.) Rice soup was more like a porridge. Filled with a lot of rice, pieces of chicken and chorizo. Very flavorful. It came hot and fresh. Empanadas were so delicious, especially the chicken one! I was full by the time I got to the dates. Dates: they were only okay for me. They cooked it well and has this creamy cheese but it was just too much for my taste. Nothing against how they cook it. If I had to pick one I would choose the Valencia because it was more diverse and had chorizo, chorizo is never a bad pick. We also ordered the bacon wrapped stuffed dates which is almost like a desert if you use the honey sauce that comes with it. There's also a spicy red sauce included which is the one I prefer. Really the only thing that prevented a 5 star review is that, like everything else, they've cut down on the portions but increased the price. It was over $113 and the paella trays weren't full, as the used to be. Also, the dates used to come four to an order and now there's only three. The tenderloin also deserves a special mention, it comes on a skewer and it's a lot of food on top of mashed potatoes... So delicious. I also like the bacon wrapped dates for an appetizer. They're sweet and savory with a little bit of a hot sauce and honey. Wow! They also have a hearty soup here that is amazing with shrimp, rice, chorizo and chicken. It's sort of like Paella in a bowl. Sometimes I get some just to take home. I highly recommend coming here, it is one of my favorite places in Louisville. Dinner at Mojitos was fabulous as always! They have a tent area in the parking lot with a heater and was sufficient for the evening weather. I try never to get the same thing twice here, as I have never tried anything I didn't like! From their shrimp scampi (YUM!) to their plantains and guacamole (must try), grilled tenderloin to their short ribs, and Mediterranean salad, nothing is a mistake to order.
